Neil Gaiman, I pick you! ‘M is for Mirrors you’ll stare in forever/ N is for Night and for Nothing and Never’ - taken from one of Neil Gaiman’s journal entries. I thought I would introduce something different to my blog this month. I was going to pick an author that I like and talk about some ...

Yagyu Ninja Scrolls - Volume One I am of course, talking about the new manga series The Yagyu Ninja Scrolls created by the authors of the awesome ‘Basilisk’ by Del Rey which I am reviewing at the moment. THIS book is AWESOME. It’s for mature audiences because it’s kind of violent and quite graphic in places ...

It?s all thanks to Buckethead?
2008-02-03 21:43:00
“Folks just call him Buckethead”… I had the biggest amount of hits on this site on Friday since I started this blog less than nine months ago. And it’s all because of Buckethead and his growing popularity. So I dedicate part of today’s post to Buckethead… may your popularity only continue to grow! And I am ...

Devil May Cry 4 baby and Top Shelf wraps up for January 2008
2008-01-29 23:02:00
Hmmm what cover should I use? One of the toughest decisions I have to make as a magazine editor is deciding what to put on the cover every month. Sure, that may not sound difficult in theory but it’s the cover - it’s the ’skin’ of the magazine, what people (potential readers) see first. Some may ...

We are Anonymous, Age of Conan and the Umbrella Academy
2008-01-29 09:42:00
Hello, Scientology… We Are Anonymous If I received a message like this from a group of hackers, I’d be really concerned. I wonder what the Church of Scientology is doing about it? Do you think they’ll contact Xenu and ask for protection I can’t admit to knowing any hackers (an ex boyfriend of mine that ...

Gamers - what do you read on the internet? RvB has another tourney?
2008-01-24 22:14:00
Gamers read, oh yah they do… but what do they read? It’s imperative to keep up with the times in my chosen field - I guess that’s the same for anyone who takes their livelihood seriously. You want to know what’s going on so you are more informed. But sadly, not all information is good information ...

2008-01-20 23:29:00
****Personal Rant # 3 - so you wanna be a writer?**** The other day I was informed about a thread in a gaming forum I frequent that was dissing my beloved magazine. Of course, it was pretty hard to NOT go entirely on the defensive, but I think I did OK. It’s hard when you know ...

NewType is no more?! RvB event was a goer and BHO has arrived!!
2008-01-15 04:51:00
What the? New Type USA is finished… According to this news source, New Type magazine USA is no more. Thank goodness I didn’t decide to subscribe (at almost $25.00 a pop here in New Zealand, New Type magazine isn’t exactly cheap). It’s sad to see a great magazine go. What I’d like to know is, what will be replacing it because there doesn’t seem to be alot of magazines out there (in print anyway) that cover as much as New Type USA did. Anime and manga fans around the globe must surely have something to say about it? Stink Thumbs down! But a big thumbs up to… The RvB Guitar Hero III tourney on Friday night! Well, I have to say that my own account of the face off between Danger and DarkJyn won’t do it justice because the competition was really intense. You kinda had to be there to witness just how intense but all in all, the event went off. I am sure the gamers and the organisers were very happy with the result. And congratulation...

Guitar Heroes - strum yourself to er… stardom? So RvB are having another Xbox 360 competition tomorrow night and this time it’s for Guitar Hero III. It’s for expert level competitors only so that counts me out (by a LONGGGG shot lol) but I’ll be there all the same. A few of my friends will be ...

Hellgate: London is anything but Hell?
2008-01-02 20:22:00
Hellgate ROCKS!! So I am back into my MMORPG mode of game play on the PC. I’ve been contemplating playing Hellgate: London for some time and when I first saw it, I knew it would be the kind of game that I’d like. Turns out my intuition was dead on again! I’ve been playing it non-stop ...

The King of Kong: Competitive Video Gaming like you?ve never seen it before
2007-12-28 04:09:00
All Gamers NEED to see this movie! King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is some of the best viewing I’ve seen in a while regarding video games and and competitive video gaming. An honour for Digital Otaku… Merry Xmas and bring on the New Year!
2007-12-27 00:21:00
Digital Otaku on Active Anime/Del Rey’s blog roll… I was blogging an entry on my other blog when I noticed an incoming link I hadn’t seen before. Curious, I clicked on the URL and it took me to Active Anime’s Del Rey blog! And they have me listed in their blog roll now which is totally awesome and such an honour. Considering my work isn’t that publicised, I can use all of the exposure I can get. I am not actively seeking it, which means that when someone is linking back to my site, it’s all the better. On top of that, I also received an email asking if someone could text advertise on the site. Usually, people have to seek out advertising for their site to make money. None of my sites generate any income at all from ads so it was quite surprising to receive an email asking to advertise. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve had a few people email me every now and then wanting to use the content from my site for their own blogs or websites but n...

2007-12-12 20:37:00
I only have eyes for Gears … I have been playing alot of Gears of War for the last six weeks or so. Recently, that has increased to pretty much every day. My goal is to get good enough to do something I’ve always wanted to do… compete at national level. Obviously this relies entirely on whether ...

My tribute to Buckethead
2007-11-06 22:01:00
For those of you who do not know me well, I love to write and I love to write poetry. I have written many poems, some of them rhyme, some of them don’t. Some of them make sense and some of them just find me lost within the meaning of the words. Either way, they ...

Orange Box goodness… Mmm, Orange Box. So I am not afraid to admit to the fact that I am not a Half Life junkie who is overdosing on HL2, HLEP1 and HLEP2 as part of the Orange Box bundle. I will however be open to admitting that Portal is ONE AWESOME game. I couldn’t stop ...

The WCG is over, the NZ team is coming home… So the WCG for 2007 is at an end. And this has been a really awful week for sport all round. Losing the Rugby in the World Cup kind of started the bad weekend of sport for us. Regardless though, our NZ Cyber athletes can hold ...

The face of Jericho, Crysis beta - first impressions, Manganovel website
2007-10-05 05:04:00
The face of ‘Jericho ’ isn’t that scary at all… It’s kinda funny when you see the faces behind the games. Clive Barker is no stranger to horror but he is a relatively ‘oldish newcomer’ to the video games industry, having penned the horrific yet extremely successful horror-fest ‘Undying‘ in 2001 only to return six years later ...

Buckethead Rocks MY WORLD?
2007-10-02 00:27:00
Death Cube K… is HOT I have discovered Buckethead. I have always had a penchant for the weird and whacky things in life. But I don’t see Buckethead (aka Brian Carroll) as weird. He wears a KFC bucket on his head, a Halloween mask (because he likes horror movies) and a wig but so what? If ...
