On my way from work last Friday, the radio played the song I will always love you by Whitney Houston (This is not a post about love, keep reading!). I have heard this song several times before. In fact, this was played at a wedding I recently attended. Come to think of it, for many wedding occasions this song is an obvious choice. I was confused?. Bittersweet memoriesthat is all I'm taking with me.So, goodbye. Please, don't cry.We both know I'm not what you, you need. And I will always love you.I will always love you. If one examines the lyrics, the chorus is all lovy, dovy. However, I wouldn?t consider other parts of the song, appropriate for a wedding. I sure won?t be playing this song at my wedding! This song is several years old. Yet, in 2008, I finally figured out what the song is really about. How many years did it really take? Why am I bringing up this song and its lyrics? Well, I believe that song lyrics,(like many things!) we don?t listen to, well enough. To the people arou...

The dictionary calls it good sense in every affairs; practical intelligence. Once again the key word is good. We are evidently supposed to just know what makes good common sense. Of course some of it is learned, but really the idea suggests that we may have a built in sense of right and wrong.Much has been written on the idea that we have a conscience or an intuition about good and bad, and I tend to agree. For example if someone decided to steal something from you or kill you, without asking your permission, is it safe to say that you instinctively feel these things are wrong? Common sense tells you killing and stealing are not good. I wish all questions of right and wrong were that easy! Nevertheless, the key to it is, if you aren?t absolute...

The Person I Long To Be
2008-01-14 10:51:00
By Victoria A. MogyorosiThe day light breaks againAnother day has begun. But still no sleep has come.My body is wearyMy mind overworked.I lie awake thinkingBut what I am unsure.I need to break free from the cycle I endure.Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tideUnable to break free from the everyday flow. This is not me I need to change, before time takes overAnd I am unable to change.I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinaryAnd become that person I have always longed for.Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake. Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.Make changes in my life and help those in need.I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive wayAnd leave my mark on society before I fade away.Related PostsIf I Had My Life To Live OverIt's The Journey That's Important...The Will To Win

Better Caring Helps You Take Care
2008-01-11 06:27:00
Among the many difficult decisions in life, there is one decision that practically everyone has to deal with? How do you take care of your loved ones in there old age or in time of critical ill health? The situation becomes harder and more complicated as sometimes you need to take care of them without loosing your life or your job. I really commend the people who sacrifice their time and energy to care of their loved ones themselves. There are others, who feel they are incapable of taking care of your loved ones by themselves and look for nursing homes. This post is for them. A few factors you would consider are ? Care Facilities? Location? State Law? Full time or part time care? Environment ? Medical staffBettercaring is a dedicated service formulated with the above in mind. Guard your time like a hawkI once read somewhere that its all about "stuff" and "time". We need to identify how ?stuff? robs us of space time and energy. Ultimately get rid of the things we don't really need and get at the absolute essentials. Before you know it we might be wishing 2008 goodbye. I have stopped counting how many people told me, ?My, I can?t believe another year has gone by so soon.?.So, make more time for the important stuff otherwise you will regret later.#2. 2007: Hold On To The Hallmark Moments
2007-12-31 17:23:00
The year 2007 began on a high note for me. No sooner followed a few setbacks. The choices were hard and the solutions seemed scarce. Time, friends and family kept the rhythm of life flowing. I don't have any regrets. It was indeed one of those life lessons. Perhaps I had to learn it the hard way. Given the same situation now, I probably would handle it differently.Mid year came, I had to make some deceive decisions relating to my career. It was a tough one to make at the time. Looking back at it now, I know I made the right choice. All in all, I have enough hallmark moments I can take away with me to the year 2008. I suppose at the end of it all, it really comes down to two things for me. * The people?. who left a foot print in my life. * The moments/memories?. that made me smile, happy and sad. As you might have realized, this year has been a mixed bag of experiences for me. Through it all, I am proud to say that I have learned, grown and matured!"Year?s end is neither an end no...

The Best Christmas Gift You Can Give Yourself
2007-12-22 05:36:00
It?s that time of the year ?The city is nicely lit with various breathtaking decorations. The roads are never a lonely sight. There are so many people walking about, one begins to wonder where they were all through the year!I bet you also did your round of shopping for your loved ones. Did you get something for yourself as well? Probably spent a few dollars on that as well huh?The gift I am proposing doesn?t cost you anything, in terms of any financial sense. If you thought this post was a way of using affiliate marketing? shame on you. :-)I can?t take any credit for this idea. The idea originated from one of my mother?s good friend?s. She is an UK citizen and came to Sri Lanka(that?s where I live!) for a short holiday. About a week before her flight, she discovered a small lump under her chin while washing her face. As days passed by she began to get a tingling pain and went to the doctor to get it checked. The doctor had given her medication and as a precautionary measure asked h...

Tame Your Temper; 6 Tips That Actually Work
2007-12-18 12:14:00
You don?t wake up in the morning thinking ?I am going to get mad today?. But it happens. There are moments in life where you get so annoyed, that you loose your temper and say and do things you might regret. The following excerpt from the book It?s ok to ask them to work sums it up pretty well. The madder you get, the dumber you areI never met a person who could make better decisions when angry than when calm. We even have a word for this:Irrational. Not rational. Not thinking.Who among us has not-in the heat of an argument-said and done things that we would have moved heaven and earth to un-say and un-do when we finally returned to out rational state. Our observations and our lived experience validate it. The madder we get, the dumber we are. Our challenge, then, is to manage ourselves in a way that we can avoid anger-at least the trembling anger that leaves us sputtering rather than speaking. Anger creates situations that rupture relationships, ruptured relationships lead to enemies...

Why Read Books When We Have Blogs?
2007-12-14 07:12:00
This was one of the lunch table topics yesterday. I know it?s a bit geeky for a lunch time conversation. But hey, I work for a software firm! Anyway, I thought I would take the discussion further by writing a post about it. Here are some thoughts by my fellow colleagues.* Most people who write books have blogs. They use the blog as a means of advertising for the book. In order to create an interest about the book, the blog entries revolve around book.* A blog post can be read and done with in quick time. It was argued that it is sometimes a summarized version of a book.* Blogs are free, books are not!My 2 cents on the matter* Book s are generally centered around one main goal or rather a central idea. Every chapter in book is structure in a manner to achieve that goal. (Generally speaking of course!)*Unless it?s a series of posts, blog entries are rarely inter-related. * Not everyone who has a blog write a book. In terms of sharing ideas, the possibilities are endless.* For novels/ f...
