2007-02-01 06:18:00
Source:Management CraftTry as I might, I did not get it doneI'm annoyed by others all smiles and fun.Tired, frazzled, unable to thinkDo I need a lobotomy or just a stiff drink?Oh well, oh overwhelm.Am I dense, am I slow, am I poor? Why is this work I loved such a bore?I hope for a cyclone to take it all awayThe stacks, the people, the bosses, the fray.Oh well, oh overwhelm. The problems number too manySane employees, are there any?I want to be good, want to do wellI’ve ended up in manager’s hell.Oh well, oh overwhelm. Now wait one cotton pickin’ momentMusn't allow this self-inflicted torment. It’s just a day and just a jobNot something deserving my sob.Oh well, oh overwhelm.I’ll shake it off, reject the funkSit in peace, chant like a monk. These thoughts of failure I’ll abandonSo bring it on, bring it on!Oh well, oh overwhelmI thought this poem relates well to my last post You HAVE TO Love What You DoRelated PostsQuarter Life CrisisWe Have TodayPeople Come Into Your Life Fo...

You HAVE TO Love What You Do
2007-01-28 16:47:00
Guy Kawasaki's post onTen questions with Donald Trump caught my eye over the week-end. I really liked the choice of questions raised by Kawasaki. I have to applaud Donald Trump's answer to the last question, Q:"TV is TV, real life is real life: What ’s the most important real-life advice you can give to an entrepreneur?"A: "You have to love what you do. Without passion, great success is hard to come by"…I agree, with Donald Trump whole heartedly on that one. Now, allow me to add my 2 cents to his answer.* Most people know what they don't like to do. But do they know what they love to do?* It is easy to say, "You have to love what you do". How many of us are quipped to do so? Real life is real life! Most of the time, you are surrounded by complicated practicalities, which prevent you from doing what you love to do. Is this true for you? * Does that mean everyone who isn't successful is not doing what they love? Please feel free to leave a comment with your 2 cents :-)Related Po...

Dale Carnegie Guide To A Happier YOU
2007-01-22 04:12:00
I didn't choose to write this post because I am a 100% happy person. Just like you, I too have my share of problems (or rather challenges!). Just like you, I have gone through many hardships to be where I am today.Over the years, many people have helped me "get out of bed in the morning, when I didn't want to!". I am going make public one such person; Mr. Dale Carnegie . I have never met him. I have never spoken to him. He never existed in my era! Yet, he is one of those people who has influenced me to be the person I am today.Oh well, if still don't know who he is…..Dale Carnegie was an American writer and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. In this post, I will share with you some of his inspirational truisms (along side my two cents!). I hope that it will guide you, to be a happier YOU.Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see a bird that has the blues? One reason why birds and horses ar...

Enhance Life: Link Nuggets (January 18, 2007)
2007-01-19 04:12:00
I decided to add some variation to my already varied blog! This new addition will include links to other useful and thought provoking posts, I stumble upon. Most of us want to loose weight (I can see you sigh!). May be reducing weight was a New Year resolution for some. Have you followed through? Well then, this link is for you. Rodger Constandse writes a post on Setting Realistic Weight Loss GoalsWhen you were young, you didn’t even understand the notion of risk. You just did. You ate paint chips off the wall, you tasted the handful of dirt you scooped up in your garden, you stuck your fingers wherever you wanted to, but as time passed and you grew older, you were slowly introduced and taught the notion of risk by others around you and it was as if a square marking your boundaries was slowly painted around you. Soon enough, you stopped risking….. Read the rest of the post on How To Take Risks by Brian Kim.This post my be a bit too late for my father. However, it could save your ...

Book Excerpt:The Heart Of A Leader By Ken Blanchard
2007-01-17 04:40:00
Positive thinkers get positive results because they are not afraid of problems.Ken Blanchard and Norman Vincent PealeThe Power of Ethical ManagementI know the minute you mention the word ‘problem’ the implication is that you are speaking negatively. But some don’t see it that way.People often asked Norman Vincent Peale, "Don’t you think life would be better if we had fewer problems?" Norman would answer that question by saying, "I’ll be happy to take you to Woodlawn Cemetery because the only people I know who don’t have any problems are dead."Norman felt it was possible that the more problems you have, the more alive you were. "If you have no problems at all," he would say "you’re in grave jeopardy!" In fact, if you really insisted that you had no problems, he would suggest that you immediately race home, go straight to your bedroom and slam the door. Then get down on your knees and pray: "What’s the matter, Lord? Don’t you trust me anymore? Give me some problems!"...
