The Incredible Shrinking Wardrobe: The Coat Closet
2007-06-05 23:10:00 In an effort to downsize my life, I decide to tackle my wardrobe first. It seems like a fitting place to start. Having quit my fancy-title-but-shit-pay job just last month, I've been enjoying the sartorial freedom that accompanies unemployment. I can lounge around in my knickers for the better part of the day; I can wear the same T-shirt and jeans two days in a row. Good times!An audit of my closet reveals nine coats/jackets. Considering that there are only three seasons that necesitate outerwear, this seems a little excessive to me.Purging clothing can be difficult, especially if you're the sentimental type ("But that's the dress the president came on!"). This is where common sense should kick in. Clothing is meant to be worn. If a piece of clothing is just taking up space in your closet, it's not serving its purpose.So back to my coat closet.
