The Weight Loss Drug ' Alli '

I'm sure you've probably seen the ads for Alli or at least heard of it. It's the weight loss drug that is currently being talked about by many wanting to lose weight. I would never take this drug.The side effects are horrible. You have oily/fatty stools, oily spotting, gas with oily discharge and my absolute favorite- inability to control bowel movements.Supposedly this drug helps you lose more weight then with diet and exercise alone (i.e. when you would normally lose 10 pounds, with this drug along with the program you would lose 15). It says that you have to follow a sensible low fat diet along with taking Alli to have the correct results.Here's my take on it. I would rather spend an extra day at the gym, throw in a few extra walks with my dog, cut out a few cookies and have more sex then take Alli. Why? Because I would much rather worry about doing all of those extra things to burn extra calories the fun way then have to worry about knowing where the bathroom is and making ...

Celebrities Involved In Steroids Trafficking?

Timbaland, Mary J. Blige, and Tyler Perry are just some of the celebrities named in an Atlanta based investigation of steroids trafficking. Now these charges are alleged, however, they are among a list of tens of thousands of names of people who may have used or received steroids and injectable human growth hormones. Law enforcement officials say that they have no evidence that these entertainers or any other violated any laws. They say that they are targeting doctors, pharmacists and anti-aging clinics.Now if they have no actual concrete proof that any wrong doing was done, shouldn't law officials have waited to release any names so that the scandal isn't associated with people who may not have done anything wrong?

Missing 'Boy' Turns Out To Be 33 Year Old Woman

This really is just strange. A 13 year old boy was reported missing from a children's home in Norway. Turns out he is actually a she- a 33 year old woman who post for 4 months as the boy in order to avoid giving testimony in a child abuse case. She even went back to school.

The Nasty Get Nastier

I don't understand it. I don't think I ever will. I don't get how you can sit there and try to have a conversation with someone and they just scream at you. You're not saying anything worth screaming at, they just feel the urge to do it anyway because they're in a bad mood or upset. People just seem to be getting nastier and you would think after everything that this world goes through that everyone would say "Hey life is too short to be mean and nasty" but no apparently it doesn't work that way. They may not even be screaming at you, they could just be mean and nasty. People need more patience and an attitude adjustment and realize that stupid things aren't worth fighting over.

4 Week Old Polar Bear Cub

At the Nuremberg Zoo in Germany, zookeepers are taking care of a 4 week old polar bear cub who was taken away from its mother in fear that the mother would eat it. Up until now the mother was taking perfect care of the cub, then recently started acting confused and picking up the cub then dropping it on its head. They are now taking care of the absolutely adorable little polar bear.

Australia Ends Use Of Plastic Bags In Supermarkets

Back in 2004 (wow already that long ago?!) it was stated that if plastic bags weren't voluntarily phased out in Australia by 2007 that the government would step in and make it mandatory. Well they've done it...sort of. The phase out will begin by the end of 2008. By the way, you think you're doing everything you can by recycling these plastic bags? Granted it's much better than throwing them away, however it still takes energy to process them in the first place then to recycle them.Now in my opinion, the only option is reusable bags. Not only are reusable bags eco-friendly but they are much more stylish then the ugly white or yellow ones that are given out by stores. Reusable bags are sturdy (i.e won't rip when you're halfway to the car spilling out a load of possibly embarrassing products for all to see) , usually washable and much better for the environment. Take a look at the picture from the article in 2004 where the turtle is ingesting a plastic bag- is that what you want...

In Mexico a boy glued his hand to his bed with industrial strength glue because he didn't want to go to school. After the mother couldn't unstick him from the bed, she called the authorities who got his hand free in time for school. Anyone else's mother would have cut out the piece their hand was glued on and sent them to school with a piece of mattress attached to their hand?In Idaho, a man cut off then microwaved his own hand because he believed he bore the "mark of the beast." He called 911 and was taken to the hospital.

Too Much Sex?

What exactly is considered too much sex? Is too much sex harmful? Now if you feel as though your sexual urges are turning into an addiction then that's obviously cause for a problem. If you have an absolutely insatiable appetite, are endangering yourself then chances are there are reasons behind your high sexual appetite that a professional would be best to speak with. I would think that losing sensation or having numbness, just like if a woman were to use a vibrator too often and/or in one spot for too long, then probably too much sex is being had. This article is a great opinion on this question. Here's another interesting article that poses the question Is Sex Necessary? The article also lists a slew of health benefits to frequent sex (yay!). Basically I would say a good amount is about 4 times a week (more or less depending on the couple) plus maybe a few varied other activities in addition.

St. Charles, MO is proposing a bill that would ban cursing, along with table dancing, drinking contests and profane music in area bars. Here's my opinions on the matter. They are saying that the area gets a little too rowdy on some nights. Wouldn't the smart thing to do be to incorporate more undercover offers into the scene, along with more officers on patrol in the area? More bouncers maybe? Since when are games illegal? Are they soon going to incorporate a 3 drink minimum? You can get just as rowdy downing a few drinks as you can during a drinking game. Granted adrenaline gets in the way sometimes, but I would think that would be where the bouncers come in. In regards to the cursing, c'mon really. Does that mean if you say "Oh, sh**" when you spill a drink on the table that they eject you or fine you? People should be responsible for what words come out of their own mouth, if the cursing gets out of hand (i.e. a verbal altercation that could turn into a physical fight) then ...

Britney Spears Loses Custody

So over the weekend Britney Spears lost visitation rights to her two children. I would say I feel sorry for her, but I don't. If her getting repeated warnings over losing her kids wasn't going to make her change her ways BEFORE she actually lost visitation, then obviously nothing will at this point. Now here's my question. There's obviously something mentally wrong with her to go from how she was years ago to what she has become now. Why isn't she being institutionalized (even for a few days for observation) considering she's clearly been a danger to her children and herself AND something has happened to her mentally?

New Cocaine Addiction Vaccine?

There are two researchers working on the first ever vaccine to treat people that are addicted to drugs. Now it's a great concept for people who want to quit, however, how is this drug going to be available? Do users have to pay for it? How often does the drug need to be given? Will addicts still have to go to treatment programs? Until I hear more information on it, I'm neither for nor against it. I'm not even sure how effective it would be in the first place.

Britney Spears In A Standoff

Apparently Britney Spears , under the influence (surprise, surprise) was in a three hour standoff that involved her children. I'm really thrilled that because Spears decides to act like a selfish intolerable moron, her poor children have to suffer. On top of that, her actions took a fire truck, six police cars, and two ambulances away from people who really needed it. Why she's even allowed to look at her children is beyond me. The only thing that her seeing them is doing is allowing them to grow up traumatized. If this wasn't a celebrity, chances are these children would have been taken away from her a long time ago.

If you're not married and you're not blood does that mean that that person is not family? Last time I checked, the definition of family isn't DNA or a marriage certificate. I have friends that I consider family, just as important as my family, that I actually call family. Anyway, basically the point that I'm getting at, is just because you're not married to someone and don't share the same blood doesn't mean that you're not family. Just a mini rant.

Well as you've noticed, I haven't been writing lately. Due to a personal issue, in addition to my being sick, I haven't been able to get any posts up. I will try to get some posts going soon, and I apologize. I hope everyone had an amazing New Year! I wish all of you much happiness, health, and wealth in 2008. Make this a year for the positive- positive thoughts, positive outlooks and positive changes.Btw, my boyfriend and I finally tried the Wii and it's great. Definitely worth the wait in line and the purchase. Plus, it seems to be a good workout as my shoulders were sore the next day.Off to bed I go. Check back I'll have something soon.

Yesterday I posted about New Years Promises, well one of mine for last year was to take Belly Dancing classes, which I did and I absolutely loved at a fantastic dance school in Manhattan. However, I had to commute ($7 round trip) and the classes were $16 a class, which factors out to quite a bit of money. Well I came across some free dance lessons online. Yes it sounds odd but its great for those that don't feel comfortable doing dances in front of other people or who don't , or would just rather not, spend the money so frequently to take the classes.The first site is learning2dance.com and the second is learntodance.com. There are also the option to pay for some classes also.

Promises Not Resolutions

With the New Year upon us, many are going to make resolutions and most of those people aren't going to complete them. Most of mine that I've made every year have crumbled within the first month. Why? Because we know how to lie to ourselves.We make excuses and boy do we believe them. I've never told myself a lie that I didn't believe- at least for a little while. Let me explain. Number one resolution most people make every year- To work out more and lose weight. People join a gym, go for a couple of weeks then slowly start to stop going. I decided to get my boyfriend and I a Wii for Christmas. I called Best Buy stores for three days trying to figure out when to go according to when they were getting their shipments. That produced zero results so I decided on another approach. Just go. I went up to the city and asked the manager of one store when they would get a shipment, he said they might get one about 4pm. They had only 9 hiding in the back and it was already called for by the first 9 people in the line. But, not bad, a 40 minute wait on a special designated "Wii Line." So 4pm comes and still no additional Wii systems. I still wait and kill time by listening to people tell me horror stories of how some had to wait hours in the snow for their first Wii systems, while others traveled to several stores and some even made multiple trips to the same store, only to not get a numbered ticket high enough for the current shipment.We get numbered tickets after the other 9 people got theirs, and I'm number 3. I still wait ...
