I, must get out, of here
2007-08-16 14:50:00 I think in another life I was a race car driver, or I was supposed to grow up to be one. Nothing calms me down more than driving fast down the highway with the windows down, the wind blowing my hair and the music super loud. When I was 16 and it was time to get my permit I was so excited, for obvious reasons. When my dad informed me I would be driving a standard and not an automatic I was even more excited. He however, was not when I kept grinding the clutch. When he taught me to change a tire and the oil I felt empowered, like I don't need a stupid guy to do this for me, I can do it on my own. I just like cars.Back to the point at hand. Last night I sent Mr. Ex an email, don't worry, it was good for me to do so. I am in my "karma cleaning" phase and I need to get rid of all my negative energy and that is exactly what I did. There was no blaming, there were no guilt trips, there was nothing bad. It was a chance for me to close that chapter in my life, to move forward and to get a ...
You know you are from NYC when.....
2007-08-15 14:50:00 1.You say "the city" and expect everyone to know that this means Manhattan.2.You have never been to the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building.3.You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park at 3:30 on the Friday before a long weekend, but can't find Wisconsin on a map.4.Hookers and the homeless are invisible.5.The subway makes sense.6.You believe that being able to swear at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual.7.You've considered stabbing someone just for saying "The Big Apple".8.The most frequently used part of your car is the horn.9.You call an 8' x 10' plot of patchy grass a yard.10.You consider Westchester "upstate".11.You think Central Park is "nature."12.You see nothing odd about the speed of an auctioneer's speaking.13.You're paying $1,200 for a studio the size of a walk-in closet and you think it's a "steal."14.You've been to New Jersey twice and got hopelessly lost both times.15.You pay more each...
Making things right
2007-08-13 18:58:00 So as you all know, I have recently begun to study Buddhism and take it's principles into my everyday life and I think it is working. I have seen a definite change in my behavior as well as my overall outlook. One of the things that I am working on is going back and making some things right with people and learning to say no to other people. When Mr.Ex and I broke up I was alone in California with no where else really to go, so I turned to a friend of my uncle's who lived there and I started staying with him. At that point in my life I was so messed up, emotionally and mentally. Things just weren't right in my head and the fact that I was using alcohol and other substances to make things feel better, probably wasn't good. I didn't want to work, I didn't want to eat, I didn't want to do anything and being that he lived right on the beach was a total bonus. I wouldn't say that I was mean to him, I just never really showed him or told him what his generosity meant to me. When I ... More About: Maki , Makin

2007-08-12 20:55:00 So let's talk about my weekend. Friday night I went to see Incu-fucking-bus and oh my god were they good. At around 5pm Friday night I got a call and was told to "hurry up and get dressed because I am picking you up in an hour". I was so frantic as I was out shopping and dropped everything and proceeded to run home and get ready. Oh my god the show was so good, sooooooo good. Brandon Boyd is yummy, but a little skinny, I think we could fit into the same size jeans and I think we may have had eye sex and I liked it. After the concert the fun continues and I venture down to the Jersey shore and that is where I proceeded to stay all weekend. Not exactly planned, but it works out.Last night I didn't go to bed until 3:30-ish and I slept outside on a couch on the beach. And no it wasn't because I drank too much (which I did) and passed out (which I did), there were like 10 of us out there on couches, it was crazy and awesome. I must recommend that. Now for the good stuff, I met a boy. :...
I am an asshole
2007-08-10 16:11:00 That should have been his license plate. While driving in yesterday I came across this assbag. I would like to say thank you to the assbag and his large Hummer for sucking up all the gas that my cousin is fighting for in Iraq. Thank you and thank you for adding insult to injury by adding matching red rims. I hope you get hemorrhoids, thanks! And another thing to file under the "I am an asshole" category, I just read the 50 cent and Kayne West will both be releasing their albums next month, on September 11th. Seriously? Are you kidding me? Show some respect to NYC and don't try to capitalize on that day. It is a tough day for us to get through and we don't need to hear about it from you two jerkoffs. I'm angry
2007-08-09 14:26:00 Ok, so I woke up this morning and checked my email inbox and I had an email from my cousin who is currently in Iraq. Should be a good surprise right? Well, yes I am excited to learn he is still alive but I was so angry when I read his email. Not for what he said, but for what he said it was like. My cousin, who went to fucking West Point is now living in a fucking shithole because some asshole wanted to go out and get revenge for his father. Yeah, I said it and I can because I live in the US and I can speak out against anything I possibly want to and I know some of you critics will come back with "Well that is why he is there, so you have the opportunity to do so." Well, no, no that is not why he is there. He is there because someone wanted to start a war. No one was encroaching on our freedom, no one had their ships lined up in the Atlantic ready to attack, no one was firing missiles at us. Someone however was being selfish and was willing to sacrifice billions and billions of doll... More About: Angry

My kindred spirit
2007-08-07 14:09:00 kin·dred spir·it (plural kin·dred spir·it)Definition: somebody like you in character: somebody who resembles somebody else in character, interests, and temperamentEver heard of kindred spirits? Well, I think I have found mine. When I met her it was a simple hello and a handshake but I had a feeling about her and I just knew. She is me, in 20 years. We met at a Red Cross benefit, we both make jewelery, although she is MUCH more successful at it than I am and we are both practicing Buddhists. I sent her an email yesterday morning and by mid-afternoon she had gotten back to me and signed it "big hugs". She was at a magazine getting ready to do a photo shoot with her necklaces. I've never really felt this way about someone I just met. It is NOT a romantic way at all, no, no, no, no, no. But it is a feeling of comfort and I feel like I can learn alot from her. Booked bitches
2007-08-03 14:30:00 In an effort to distract myself from realizing that I don't want to date anyone I have booked myself solid for the month of August. This weekend I have a haircut, a facial and a massage, sweet right?Next weekend I will be traveling to New Jersey for a drunk triathlon. I know how that sounds and yes, it is just as fun as it sounds. I will not be participating in the activities, but I will be refereeing, which means I get to drink more! It is basically a bunch of Wall Street guys, like these are the big Wall Street players who are letting loose. There is swimming in a lagoon, riding a bike with a costume on, and you have to run in flippers. Not your typical triathlon, but so much more fun. That should be an interesting blog post after that. The third weekend in August I will be traveling to NJ again for my godson's 2nd birthday party, which should be pretty sweet. I bought him a powerwheels jeep for his birthday, which will make me the winner of the presents, HANDS DOWN! I think he i... More About: Bitches
Dog park boyfriend
2007-08-02 15:00:00 Isn't it funny the kind of relationships we develop outside of our romantic ones? I'll admit, I do in fact have a boyfriend, a gay boyfriend mind you but still he is my dog park boyfriend. We bring each other coffees, sometimes bagels, we coordinate our times, we sit in "our" corner and gossip about the other dog parents, we are the bitchy ones at the Washington Square dog park. But we aren't the only ones, there are other "dog park daters" which I find hilarious. Hilarious that we cling to each other and something so simple as our dogs bring us together. A little being that most of us got for companionship really brought us together with actual people. We talk about the problems with our dogs, we show off the latest dog accessories and we give each other tips. I've never actually gone anywhere else with my dog park boyfriend, other than the confines of the fenced off dog park. I love it! I'm off to see my dog park boyfriend. More About: Boyfriend , Park
T-Mobile, you suck, but I love my phone
2007-07-31 20:43:00 On July 2, 2007 I became a T-Mobile customer. As I sat and waited for my Sidekick to arrive via UPS the excitement grew and on July 5th my Sidekick finally arrived. Since then however, there have been nothing but problems. For the first two weeks that I was a T-Mobile customer I was not able to receive text messages, which was one of the primary reasons I got a Sidekick. Finally, the problem was fixed, after I called every day to get status updates. Two days before the problem was fixed I was told “we don’t have a time frame for that”. I was supposed to also received 4 callbacks regarding this issue and none came. Also, I didn’t even know the problem was fixed until I figured it out on my own using my family’s cell phones to send myself text messages. But the problems do not end there. On July 23, 2007 my Sidekick battery alerted me that it needed to be charged. That is when a real problem developed. I went to plug my less than one month old Sidekick into the wall and it wo... Jazz Schmazz
2007-07-28 03:38:00 So last night as I sat at Arthur's Tavern (you should check it out, Grove St.) listening to fantastic jazz music, with a slight buzz and the arm of a super hot blonde soap opera actor around my shoulder, I could only think of one thing, him, the dreaded Mr. Ex. As I sat there and got more intoxicated the thoughts just kept coming. I thought about how much he would like that place and how much that place was "him". How he would love the music and how he would love the atmosphere of this place. I felt an urge to text him and tell him, but thank god I did not. I started to miss him alot, more than I should, considering I shouldn't at all. Here I was on a fantastic NYC date with a guy so frigen hot that everyone stared, and I could only think of the one person I shouldn't be thinking about. I seriously don't know what it is about him and why I can't and don't want to let go. We haven't spoken in a month and half, I have changed my phone number and my email address, my head is doin... Leave her a-lohan
2007-07-27 13:47:00 All I have to say today is this.... Matt Damon agrees with me, so there.... “I think there a lot of people who want to help her out, and it’s a very personal thing. Most people know someone in their lives that’s struggling with a disease like that, and the reality is you can only support them and it’s got to come from them - it’s her choice ultimately. I mean, look, she’s very young, she’s very talented; it’s easy to look from the outside and say, ‘Oh, you have this big opportunity.’ It’s really hard to know that when you’re in the middle of it, and to see life from any other perspective other than your own - particularly when you’re that young. She’s obviously hit a chord with people, because people are so fascinated with her, so everybody’s pulling for her, that’s for sure.”- Matt Damon on Lindsay Lohan More About: Leave

Asshole insect
2007-07-25 14:38:00 Dear flying insect that assaulted me yesterday,I want to thank you for really fucking up my day. I was merely walking my dog in the park, I was not bothering you, I did not swat at you, but you felt a need to assault me. You landed your black multi-sectioned body on my foot and stung me before I could get you. Yes, I took a swipe at you but only after you stung me. The intense pain I felt in my foot is like no other I have ever felt. I let out a big scream and people started looking at me. They thought I was crazy! I had to hobble home 3 blocks with my dog and with flip flops on, thanks alot asshole. My foot stung up until this morning and it even woke me up in the middle of the night, no really, thanks. In the end I win though. As I pulled your little stinger out of my foot, I thought to myself how wonderful it is that you can not sting another person and soon you will die. So you may have won this battle black insect, but I won the war!Still limping,*Red More About: Asshole

Look, you have alot of money, get a driver, will ya? Two DUI's in 3 months is a little excessive, don't you think? We have had a few interactions out and about in LA and NYC and I like you, I really do. I think you are a very sweet person, you are funny, you made me laugh, but please, knock it off. Seriously, stop crashing cars, lay off the blow and go back to your red hair. You are only 21 and as an older and wiser (not by much) redhead, I feel a need to give you this advice.Give me a call,*RedPS. It's raining men.....
2007-07-24 02:06:00 One of the greatest moments of my life happened earlier today, a hot man fell on top of me, let's call him Super Hot Man. Super Hot Man is 23 (yeah I know, 2 years younger) 6'2", blonde and an actor on a soap opera. Yeah I know that last part sounds retarded but he is soooo hot I don't give a shit. It is a total bonus that I can watch him on tv too. This little gem fell into my lap (literally). We were on the subway, the car jolted and SHM fell on top of me, I didn't mind. He apologized profusely and I was like no, no, it's ok, you can fall on me anytime. He said he would like to take me out for coffee to make up for it and I did not object, not at all. Besides being amazingly hot, he is super smart and we had a great conversation. Sounds too good to be true right? Well, he does have 1 flaw, he is a super bad speller on AIM, but we all can't be perfect right? Holy hell this guy is hot, I can't get over it. We have plans for this weekend. It may be raining like cats and dogs i... More About: Raining
This is why I loveeeee NYC
2007-07-22 16:43:00 Ok, so I have had a fantastic couple of days and I thought I would share with you some of the wonderful things in NYC, so that you may partake as well.1. Hairspray at the Neil Simon Theater. Fan-fucking-tastic. Oh my god, one of the best Broadway shows I have seen. The Neil Simon Theater is kind of small, but it works so well for this show. The music is amazing and Ashley Park Angel is a hottie. Yeah, I know I realized I just said a former member of O-Town was a hottie, but something about this show makes me have a little crush on him. Go see it!http://www.hairspraythemusical.com/hai rspray_home.php2.Tamago Skincare (13th and 2nd Ave.), probably the best facial I have ever had. I was literally drifting in a out of consciousness because it was so relaxing. It was only $50 too! How can you beat that? Go do it and ask for Akima, she is fantastic.http://www.tamago-skincare.com/ index.html3. Bondi Road (153 Rivington St between Clinton St & Suffolk St), such good food. All the waitress...
Meh, meh, meh, next
2007-07-19 15:00:00 Oh well so much for Mr. Brooklyn, he got really annoying, really fast. It got to the point where everything he did bugged the shit out of me, so I cut him loose. He is not from NY and he doesn't act like a NYer. Granted there are no real "rules" of being a NYer, but there are certain things you just don't do. Included on that list are talking SUPER loud on the subway, carrying a fucking backpack and making retarded noises on the sidewalk. In NY we tend to see ourselves as "chic" and most of us pull it off effortlessly, he however did not. He was so promising too, oh well, NEXTTTTT. On a brighter point, we went to The Delancy for drinks and it was fabulous, you'll have to go. Oh well, back to square one, or actually, I'm stepping off the squares and just hanging out with my dog for awhile.
List this bitch
2007-07-17 14:26:00 Fine, you want a list, here. Here is a short list of things I look for in a guy. Actually, this was kind of eye opening and I think it will be good to have this going forward. I sat in Starbucks and wrote this and was kind of surprised I could come up with things. But of course, I'm not going to pull out a piece of paper and go check-list style, but still, now I know and you do too.· Must know how to fix stuff.· Must be affectionate.· Forehead kisses (bonus points).· Must like red wine.· Must be technically savvy.· Must know how to text message, I like text messaging.· Taller than 5’10”, I’m 5’7” and I like to wear heels.· Must act like a gentleman, open doors, pull out my chair etc.· Must like to travel.· Must be able to be spontaneous.· Must be able to deal with a redhead, if you don’t know what that means, then I suggest you do some research. We are a tough bunch.· If we are on the sidewalk and there is a big crowd ahead of us, if you aren’t already hol... More About: List , Bitch
What do you look for in a guy?
2007-07-16 14:22:00 I hate that question and it seems like I am getting asked it alot these days. Well shit, I can't just come up with something on the spot. I mean yeah there are a few things I look for or that I am drawn to but I can't just spit them out when you ask me. So here, here is the answer to my question. I want a guy that does this for me........Or not even that necessarily. But someone who would be that romantic and creative to think something up like that. There, that is what I want.
BZZZZZ, time's up
More articles from this author:2007-07-14 19:38:00 So as I sit here on this lovely Saturday afternoon I have a tough decision ahead. My lease is up in September so to renew or not to renew? I just can't decide. I mean I want to see what else is out there but I like this place alot. At the same time though I want to see if I can save a little money and get a little more space maybe, sounds crazy right So as I peruse Craigslist I find myself saying $1400 for a studio in the village? Wow that is cheap! I suddenly realized how insane NYC property is. My brother pays $1200 a month for a 4 bedroom house with a yard in upstate NY. Well actually he only pays $300 a month because he splits it with 3 other people. So the moral of this story is, anyone know of a great apartment up for rent? :) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 |
