The Floating Stairs.What really got our attention here is the stairs, the floating stairs. Florence architect Guido Ciompi is the man responsible for the design project and has created an exclusive atmosphere with stylish spaces at The Gray Hotel, one of the most important 5 star hotels in Milan, Italy. The hotel is hidden away in a five-story building that used to house residences and businesses, a perfect location, tucked amidst all Milan's landmarks, the fashionable shopping streets and the financial district. Ciompi's work also included a light installation that bathes the walls, top to toe drapes and the lobby's black flagstones in an ever-changing number of colors and creates an exclusive atmosphere with stylish spaces characterized by soft tones of beige, orange and red. Guests will be surprised by the refined and sophisticated interiors, furnished in an elegant contemporary style. Light Installation.Lighting designer Bruce Munro has completed 'Field of Light' installation at the in Cornwall, England. The lighting installation situated on the grass roof of the visitors center, called the Link building, between the famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes. It's made of 6,000 acrylic stems, through which the fibre optic cables run and each is crowned with a glass sphere. The sculpture slowly changes color, transforming from blue to pink, yellow, green and back to white.When a miniature version was exhibited in the Pirelli Garden at the V&A in 2004, the sculpture first came to widespread public attention. The installation covers an area of 60 x 20 meters, using 24, 000 meters of fibre optic cable. Bahnhof Office .'Bahnhof Office' an interesting project at Stockholm, Sweden by Albert France-Lanord Architects. And what makes its so special is the location; its located 30 meters under the granite rocks of the Vita Berg in Stockholm. The client is an Internet provider and they have server halls and offices. The matches used for the construction are real and the construction of the calendar is absolutely safe. The credit for the unique and interesting idea goes to Yurko Gutsulyak who created this for V S Energy International (Financial industrial group). The beautiful concept which is a winner of quite a few awards was to create 'as unique a calendar so that the process of its presenting would become an outstanding event.' Faces In Places .Faces in Places - A collection of photos of faces found in everyday places. A really interesting concept that we learnt more than a decade back in marketing strategies, and it suits in here beautifully. Though we forgot the one who developed it, what's the name is, but still we remember the concept (hopefully). This comes from our college days when we were doing our Masters in Business Administration: our professor citing an example that if one wishes to buy a particular car or is considering buying it, then he/she starts observing those cars in public and over sometime, he/she will be surprised to see the number of similar cars they wish to purchase driving on the roads. But the fact will be the same, that the number of these cars are same as it were; its just because one wishes to buy or is considering to buy that particular car, then they start observing it and start finding them in their surroundings. Project Storyboard.Dutch designer J Van Hoof exhibited a wall made of books at the Design Academy Eindhoven graduation show as part of Dutch Design Week in the first week of November. Hoof has summed up this project beautifully: most of us have lots of books and the collection of which keeps growing. And as the collection keeps growing you need to make a choice as to which one will get a place on the bookshelf (unless you have huge bookshelves or got a library of your own in your mansion) and the rest have to go in a box on the attic. Artistic Trees .Yuken Teruya uses everyday objects and transforms them and their meanings to reflect on the contemporary lifestyle. It can be pizza boxes, bags, desserts, flags or toilet paper rolls; when they come into his hand they turn out to be intricate art works meticulously created. Illusion Sofa .In past we have seen quite a few illusions which really impressed us, and here we have a sofa by designer Rafael Simoes Miranda which takes these illusions a step further. He has beautifully created this sofa with an interesting theme. Rafael is a member of the ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) and has won some of the most prestigious design awards. In past, he has worked for about three year with a global conglomerate where he was the head of the design of consumer electronic products such as DVD cameras and others. Though in his beginning years he has completed an internship at Zuccon International Projects, and presently he design watches and jewels for some of the well-known names in the fashion industry.
