Grafton Crescent: The Extension Of A House.
2008-10-14 17:23:00 Grafton Crescent: The Extension Of A House .Grafton Crescent, a project to extend a house in Camden, London is just completed by Richard Shaw at the Crawford Partnership. The client required some extra space and this project includes replacing an existing small lean-to rear extension with a new glass extension at ground floor, and a new timber and glass addition accessed off the existing stair's half-landing. The height of the new rear extension is about 1m lesser than before, the walls of the small garden have been extended and the small rear garden was also excavated to match. Thus the design achieves an open kitchen/dining area on the ground floor, and the first floor extension can be used as a home office, play room and guest bedroom. Before - the small lean-to rear extension.Other Posts:Art From Above.Bubble Gum Walls.Upside Down Houses. Nest House.
2008-10-11 16:55:00 Nest House .Nest House is designed for the Neo-rural exhibition by Droog Design way back in 2005. It was built using simple metal and cable structures, and completed with natural materials such as leaves and branches. It can be put up from a tree and can be used as an observation point or as an essential habitat where one can spend the night. The concept and the idea behind the construction of this Nest House is quite interesting and makes a point: Housing which is a basic necessity is limited to once resources or how much one can afford. Birds settle into a place and use the nearest resources to make their nests, and the best part is they wont be paying any rent either. And learning from them, this Nest House was built. This collection of the hand jewelry is designed for those in metropolitan cities and is an effort to attract nature towards them as the nature being the presupposition of life.
