Yokohama Housing By Torafu Architects.

Yokohama Housing By Torafu Architects . Here we have an interesting architecture by Torafu Architects: Yokohama housing (tentative). Though no information is available about its design and architectural aspect or the source of its inspiration, but it does look interesting. And the design has given this building a unique and a different look that makes it stand out from the rest. Though the looks may not be appreciated by many, but interiors with the neat ends look quite interesting. And on the whole it looks like more of a combination with cubes & triangles. Smart Billboards.
2008-08-29 18:22:00
Smart Billboards .Marketers need to keep come up with new ways to convey the message which makes one feel its personalized and make them feel special.Billboard 'Whispers' At Passersby: BlueBlastMedia's JP Freeley incorporated sound with the Audio Spotlight system along with regular billboard. Using the Audio Spotlight technology, sound can be focused to only a specific area, and provide audio just to that small region - all the way from a rooftop. The system projects an isolated beam of sound down onto a focused area of the sidewalk and people who pass by the billboard are entertained by the sudden message, and their attention is directed to the billboard itself. The sound of a women's voice whispers, "Who's there? Who's There? ...It's not your imagination." Billboard: Tailor Made Digital Display: These are equipped with tiny cameras which gather the details about the passersby; their gender, approximate age and how long they looked at the billboard which are transmitted to a...

Icebergs Comes In Stripes.
2008-08-28 18:48:00
Icebergs Comes In Stripes .The Norwegian sailor Oyvind Tangen when on a research in the Antartic, came across unusual black lines striped through an iceberg.(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.)(Image credit: credit.)(Image: credit.)Most of them appear white due to the tiny bubbles within them that scatter light in all directions. When a crevice in the ice sheet or a part of an iceberg melts and quickly refreezes, then bubbles are not formed and it can appear blue.(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.)When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can form ice on its underside. If that is rich in algae, it can form a green stripes. Brown, black and yellow lines are formed by sediments, that might be picked up when the ice sheet is on its way downhill towards the sea.(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.)(Image: credit.) Solar Bags For Your Cell Phones And iPods.
2008-08-25 18:06:00
Solar Bags For Your Cell Phones And iPods. Here are interesting bags by Jane Palmer and Marianne Fairbanks of Noon Solar. With backgrounds in fibers and textiles, they graduated (MFA program) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and incorporated renewable energy into our daily lives by integrating solar panels into bags, which offer the convenience of portable power. The collections at Noon Solar are inspired by the need to rethink the way things are made, and what they are made of. These bags have paper thin flexible solar panel on the outside; and these bags are designed to be able to sit in a window in order to recharge. You can put it in your window at work, home, car, or while commuting on the train, and cell phones and iPods can be recharged day or night. The lithium-ion pack, weighs about 4oz, the output is 7.2 volts, 300 mA-400mA and the panel in the bag is water and weatherproof. It should be fully recharged on a sunny day in about 6-8 hours, and on a cloudy day, ...

Faces In Places.

Faces In Places .As its correctly said beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, perhaps its true how a thing is present and this project makes one perceive it in that particular way. We wouldn't have agreed to this, but it was only until we saw the photo of Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. We see this toy car most of the time when our son plays with it, but we never saw a face in it until we saw the photo of it. Motherboard Wall.
2008-08-23 18:30:00
Motherboard Wall .Chris Harrison (a Ph.D. student in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University) and Aubrey bought 150 lbs of motherboards from Ebay for $1.35 per lbs. And spent approximately 6 hours to assemble each motherboard wall. Though it looks cool and interesting, but one has to distribute the colors in an interesting way and apart from this, one has to take into account that dozens of different sized boards had to perfectly fit together and not overlap over the edges. It looks simple but it's not an easy task. And here is another similar work where art is created using computer parts. Tennis Ball Furniture .Tennis ball bench:Creative Dutch designer Tejo Remy and Rene Veenhuizen has found an interesting use for the bright yellow bouncy felt-and-rubber balls that could be enjoyed by the visitors at Rotterdam's Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Using the same material qualities that make tennis balls bright, bouncy and easy-to-spot, they used it to make the seating that is comfortable, sturdy, and extremely eye-catching. The seats are made from a steel frame and dozens of tennis balls. Tennis ball chair:The tennis ball chair is constructed with a chromed steel frame. Twenty-five tennis balls were fit inside the two layers and arranged in place. The tennis balls here are not glued in place; they are held in place by larger holes in the top and smaller holes in the bottom sheets of plywood so the balls don't push through when you sit on it. Tennis ball seat: The tennis ball seat from Charles Furniture. It has a stainless steel frame and legs; a total of 117 tennis bal...

Metal Wires Growing From Human Body.
2008-08-21 19:12:00
Metal Wires Growing From Human Body .In the past we have seen some Unique People but here is one person who is more different than anyone we came across. Her name is Noorsyaidah. A 40 years old kindergarten teacher from Sangatta, East Kutai. It started in 1991 when metal wires grew out of her chest and her stomach. Metal wires about 10-20 cm long. During the first week, they kept falling off and were gone, but a month later, they grew back again and from then on the wires never fell. They kept on growing. Its now 17 years and still she found no solution. Initial professional consultations revealed that the wires are also inside her body. There are more than 40 metal wires inside her and some of them are pushing out of her skin. They look like a living phenomenon. The wires are able, mobile and can change location at will. What would you think this could be?Watch the "Metal Wires Growing From Human Body" Video on YoutubeOther Posts:Bubble Gum Walls.Upside Down Houses.Creativity With...

Lilypad - A Floating Ecopolis.
2008-08-20 18:15:00
Lilypad - A Floating Ecopolis. The planet is warming, ice caps are melting, and water levels are rising and the international scientific community predicts that a temperature elevation of 1°C will lead to a water rise of 1 meter, resulting in massive land reduction and more than 50 million people will be affected by this change; imagine what would happen when it goes to 2 meters. Vincent Callebaut, a visionary Belgian architect has come up with his proposal 'Lilypad, A Floating Ecopolis' as a solution. Lilypad, a prototype of auto-sufficient amphibious city is a true amphibian - half aquatic and half terrestrial city. It will be able to accommodate 50,000 inhabitants. The floating structure of the Ecopolis is directly inspired by the highly ribbed leaf of the great lilypad of Amazonia Victoria Regia. The goal is to create a harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, exploring new modes of crosscultural aquatic living. Source: 1, 2, 3, 4.Other Posts:Glass Floor.Face Painting.Toot...
