Blogging Blank
2007-12-06 20:20:00
I'm suffering from what I call a blogging blank. Been some days since the last time I've updated my blog (this is not really a post BTW). Nothing is striking me as "blogable" recently. That's saying something, because I usually blog on any crap I see passing my way. Of course good stuff are happening in my life but I just feel like living them for now and leaving my camera aside. You know like living for once without trying to be a star! Yeah I'm going to get killed for saying it. Anyway, noticed that my pic is no more on my blog? This is certainly a change. It's the holiday season dudettes and dudes and I feel this end of year is gonna be crazy. But before I go, here's something I wanna say.I've got BRAINS! I'm Einstein!OK that was 2 things but who cares? Duh! Been a while I've said duh! Duh!Cya'll dudettes and dudes and my confused aliens.

Eliminating Poverty Locally
2007-12-02 15:37:00
I have always said and still maintain that education can help solve almost every problem. For instance knowledge on pollution and on the importance of a clean environment can help solve the problem of pollution. The power of education is such that it can elevate a person socially. The fact that education is the reason behind the prosperity of many is not new to anyone. Of course intelligence plays an important role too but the prime factor remains education and most importantly, an opportunity to education.I live in a small village called Petit Raffray where most of its inhabitants earn a living from agriculture, be it sugarcane or vegetable plantation or cattle rearing. My family is one of the rare ones to be educated and to live quite comfortably all this thanks to my parents' hard work and to our inherited property. However, not all families are that lucky and I am conscious of it. And most families have several kids in secondary schools and cannot even afford the minimum, that ...

conspiracy theories
2007-11-29 16:18:00
Do you believe in conspiracy theories? I don't! Why? Because I don't want to. It's too much of a waste of time and waste of resources without forgetting waste of mind. But then when something become so obvious that you cannot ignore them, then, well, you cannot ignore them. One of those things is the weird fire spree that takes place every year around the same date near my house. Yeah! Today we noticed a huge fire in the forest, it was really weird and since my mum was scared that it burns down our electric pole, we called 115 and the firemen took a whole 45 minutes to find the place. I thought after all these years the guys working there knew our address by heart! Anyway, after half an hour of firefighting the fire was under control. My point is, last year, on the 26th of November, something similar happened, the sugarcane field in front of my house caught fire. I had even blogged about it! Oh God! I was so stupid then, finding a fire something fun! Now it's not. I remember in 20...

Vermilion part 2 - Slipknot
2007-11-27 18:20:00
I discovered the album Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and consequently this song back in 2004. Yeah I did not know about Slipknot before that, my knowledge of Slipknot was limited to those designs on freaky black t-shirts I saw guys wear near Rose-Hill's bus station. I might as well say I had a huge prejudice against those guys and Slipknot! Come to think of it, I still have a huge prejudice against those guys but not against Slipknot! Anyway, coming back to the song, I was impressed when I first listened to it because of the title itself and of its lyrics. Here they are:She seemed dressed in all of me, stretched across my shame. All the torment and the painLeaked through and covered meI'd do anything to have her to myselfJust to have her for myselfNow I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do when she makes me sane. She is everything to meThe unrequited dreamA song that no one singsThe unattainable, Shes a myth that I have to believe inAll I need to make it real is one mo...

Tired...
2007-11-25 17:15:00
Too tired to "construct" a post. I just wanna express some feelings. Hope I'll be relieved after that!I've got so much stuff to do that I feel like I'm gonna crack. Too much stress, too much work load, been a while I've lived life like I used to some weeks ago. For someone like me, not having fun is like hell! Yeah I wanna be carefree! I feel like I've grown up all of a sudden. Having to take care of this, take care of that! This is so damn ruining me. The worst thing is that I'm rude to the people I love because I just can't handle stress. I tried to calm down last night I couldn't. The good thing is that this will be over soon. Once the vacations are here I can be happy and care free again! Thanks for listening to me dudettes and dudes! You're my therapists! :DBy the way, got something funny to narrate. Today on MBB's forum someone told me that my blog looks like a cauliflower (chou-fleur)! hihi Am I the only one thinking he's never seen a cauliflower? Sorry can't he...

Online Communities
2007-11-23 16:14:00
The existence of online communities can be explained by the human kind's need to communicate. As the famous quote from John Donne goes, No man is an island. People spend so much time online, on the web that they start building a community there, sharing conversations with people having common interests and hobbies. And as the web connects people from all countries and cultures, this permits people to learn and share experiences from all around the globe. It is not only limited to one's physical neighbourhood or group of friends. During the past decades online communities have tremendously developed and have become part of our socio-cultural reality for some of us, at least. For instance, I have an offline life which is very much complementary with my online life. Often at dinners at relatives' place, I'm asked, "so how is your blog doing?" or when I try to take a picture of someone, I get the following response: "I hope this is not gonna be on your blog!" Ten years ago I don't ...

Pretentious me
2007-11-22 16:40:00
Yet another blogging award given to the pretentious me! Oh yes I am pretentious and I'm glad I am, cause let's face it, I've got great reasons to be! Just kidding people! So I've got this wonderful blogging award from Lord Manila Stone. I must say that I'm really honored firstly because of the award itself and secondly because of the person who awarded it to me. He is one of my favourite blog authors and I really think his writing is awesome. Thanks so much! ;)So I'd like to pass on this award to wonderful dudettes and dudes whom I think really make a difference in my own little blogging world. So here goes... *drum rolls*Jevin - for being the "metalest" guy around Keli, Rooch and Adi - for being great blogging babes and so true to themselvesbbZush and Sayuka - for being so good in what they do MBB team - for the superb job done!Manico - for being a superbly wonderful writerEmperor Ropi - for being the best historian in the making I know of Aargh I'm superbly mega tired. Tagotag
2007-11-18 07:26:00
Ok, first thing, don't mind the title! I'm in a very very jovial mood today! I woke up late late (round 8 a.m) and guess what I saw? This! A cactus in a lovely orange pot! It's like those flowers and stuff you receive on Facebook, but this one is real! My dad says it's gonna grow super big. Anyway, I love it. What a better gift than a cactus for someone like me?! hehe!Anyway, I've been tagged by Koonul some days back and luckily BbZush's post reminded me of the tag! :PSo here goes:Top 5 quotes/lines:- Liberty is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. (Eric Blair)- The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. (Albert Einstein)- I don't wanna be an Angel, I just wanna be God! - krodhad bhavati sammodah sammohat smritivibhramah (Gita 2-63) From anger comes delusion; from delusion loss of memory- Flower Power!5 Things I'd love to do before I die:- Own a large grape plantation- Live a simple, h...
Before - After
2007-11-16 19:50:00
This is a picture I took some months ago while going home in the bus. I used to admire this tree everyday, it was huge, unique and very fascinating. This is what it has become now.
Can't believe I missed it!
2007-11-14 08:00:00
Anyway, it's been a year since I did my first post, that is pom pom, hihi. I won't go into a total review of my blog by posting visits and comments stats and such things, else people will come and shout funny stuff on my shoutbox! (wink @ "Rob", the guy who found my stats, annoying). Oh and by the way, Rob, next time you have some free time in a UOM lab, do something more meaningful! You gave me the impression that I make you angry and that I'm terribly important to you and I so totally hate this feeling :D So much bitterness is not good for you and consequently for me.Ah! I'm relieved! lolAnyway, coming back to the original subject, 1 year of blogging has been a wonderful experience. Sometimes, it has been addictive, sometimes not, most of the time fun and rewarding and it has remained a wonderful hobby. The thing is, I'm quite out of inspiration lately. So I hope I'll be posting something meaningful real soon.Have fun dudettes and dudes and my happy aliens and thank you all f...
I've been negatively reviewed!
2007-11-12 13:13:00
Hiya dudettes and dudes! A lot has happened since the last time I've talked about the Mauritian blogging community. MBB has started something called the MBB challenge on its forum and I'm quite addicted to these. LOL! Luckily, it's posted only once a day. Moreover, one of the reviewers at MBB has revealed her identity on the forum and to my extreme surprise, another blog offering reviews for Mauritians has surfaced. It's called Anti blog. I guess the blogger is against blogs, might never know. Anyway! he's doing negative reviews. Quoting the author's words:i wanted to create a blog where you will come to know about only the flaws of your blog and go out crying. sounds fun! Anyway, I was reviewed and I must say that it's not as bad as I expected! He sure found out that I'm terribly narcissic! :PI hope to read the reviews of other blogs on his "bash list" soon! lol! Yeah and he gave weird names to each of the bloggers on his list. Mine is "self-centred star" and my fave is Waz...
3 things to die for and my top musical picks.
2007-11-10 17:13:00
Hiya dudettes and dudes. Been a while! lol. I've been tagged by the wonderfully sweet Meghna and I gotta talk about the 3 things that I'd die for and my top musical picks! Sounds fun enough! :DThe 3 things that I'd die for would be:1. A room the size of my home.2. Google.com3. My brain when I was 11 years old.OK! all these things are to be taken lightly, except no. 3! hihi.Ah! and now my top musical picks!!Now now! I did blog about those as my crush of the month. So it's time for some posts digging.hmm, apart from those, I totally love movie soundtracks, especially those which feature some kinda unknown music bands. So here goes dudettes and dudes, a tag that was not really well answered. I'm off for some sleep. But before I go, here's the name of the people I'm tagging. Jevin, Keli, Rooch, BbZush, Roushdat, Adi, Waz, Manico, Lord Manila.I won't mind if you don't do it! lol! Diwali, the festival of lights
2007-11-08 17:37:00
Tomorrow we'll be celebrating Diwali , the festival of lights. To me, this festival represents joy, merriment and lights but most of all it represents the victory of good over evil by taking its sources in the story of Rama and Ravana found in the Ramayana. However Divali was more fun to me when I was a kid. I remember the huge prayer that was held in the middle of our family property in Goodlands on the eve of the festivals. My grandfathers, who were all pandits, used to tell my cousins and me stories taken from the holy scriptures. There were so much children living close by that it was easy to have fun, especially on the day of the festival. We used to go together to distribute cakes among relatives and neighbours.Ever since we came to live here, things have somewhat changed. Anyway, we still send cakes to our relatives but the fun is not as great as it was before. Part of me wishes to be a child again. Ah well! To fill this lacuna, I've made some round lanterns today. Nothing to...

summer's finally here!
2007-11-04 15:02:00
woooh! summer's here dudettes and dudes! OK, I know that's not the first time I'm saying it this year but this time it's really true! Today I went to attend a wedding ceremony and we were literally melting! Luckily my family decided to go home before the ceremony ended. So, on reaching home I went gardening and it was then that I've realised how much I loved summer cause that's the best season for gardening. Moreover, this summer is the first time that my coconut tree has produced coconuts and my palm trees have produced those lovely red seeds which my dad calls "supay" or "supari" and which are used in prayers when dried. And oh! we've got a new-comer on the earth patch near the kiosk, I totally love this white flower, though I don't know it's name.Oh, something else, I got this from BbZush:The designer of this award gave it out to 10 people with this in mind: “I wanted to create something special for the top ten people who have inspired me through their blogging; the s...

Hello Ween...
2007-10-31 09:55:00
Booh! Hello dudettes and dudes. What's up? Did you know that today's Halloween? Yup yup it is! I've decorated some places of the house accordingly. I've made fake spider webs out of plain paper. I've used mostly some orange and black fabric, black ribbons, orange and black bristol papers, some chandeliers, candles and some fake petals for the decoration.Since no one is celebrating Halloween in my neighborhood, I'm gonna opt for the next best alternative, which is watching all the Halloween movies and series on Disney Channel. hehe. So long buddies!

The Secrets of the Brethren
2007-10-28 07:03:00
The secrets of the brethren are not yet out and it's been almost one month since the MBB blog has been up. Those who regularly visit or know about the Mauritian Blog Brethren already know that the secret of the identity of the MBB team has not yet been disclosed to the Mauritian blogging population, though various attempts have been made on the MBB forum to know something about them! :P Many speculations have been made and some even believe that the MBB team are a bunch of UOM lecturers! This is very possible I guess. Especially, since the last review I've read is of a lecturer's blog.Several blogs have been reviewed so far and one of them is mine! :D Cool huh!I don't know to what extent MBB has attained its aim at promoting Mauritian blogs and bloggers but personally, I've got to discover new blogs, make new friends and it has also helped me "break the ice" by going forward and participating in other blogs. I've also got to discover the blogs of old friends and I've bonded b...

Wassup with me?
2007-10-27 19:24:00
Nothing's up with me. OK, let's pretend you were asking. So, I went to the concert with Jev on Wednesday. It ended at 9 and a half PM dudettes and dudes! No need to say I was really panicked. Anyway, I hope I haven't been that much of a spoilsport. You can read Jev's recount of the event here. The next day, Thursday, I was sick! I caught the cold, cough and fever package from Quatres Bornes' sublime climate! Duh!Friday, still sick with a bad mood to top it all.Saturday, also known as today, I'm better. This might be due to the fact that I slept as a log all day, this is saying something cause I don't ever sleep in the day.Anyway, I'm fit enough to type right now and then off to bed again.P.S: I know I've had flues too much lately. Weird huh?

The Bleeding - Five Finger Death Punch
2007-10-23 18:31:00
Dudettes and dudes, at last the time has come for me to talk about my crush of the month. OK, I'll cut the crap and stop being pompous! hihi, the song is called The Bleeding and it's sung by a band named Five Finger Death Punch .The story behind my discovery of this song is a quite interesting one. In fact I was pressuring Jevin to look for a song with which I could fall in love and ultimately blog about as my crush of the month. So after some days he made me listen to The Bleeding. We were in the bus but I could still hear some damn things and I fell in love with the solo (Jevin wanted to immortalise the moment with a photo. Thank God I did not let him take it). Then I wasn't really in love with the lyrics; I absolutely hate songs that talk about love and relationships. But then dudettes and dudes, came this part: As wicked as you are, you're beautiful to me You're the darkest burning star, you're my perfect diseaseAnd it made me think of someone I really love and he is...Noush...

The surprise was not disclised! Yeaah! :P and well we had fun except that I wasn't very well. Argh! Wrong time of the month. Better luck this Saturday I hope! We changed the color code to yellow and red cause we were all very much uncomfortable with only yellow. I wonder why.And we made our egg-less cake because we are all fasting but the cake was yummy as usual! :D There was also peach ice-cream and jelly.I'm awfully tired dudettes and dudes. That's it for the post. I'm off for some good sleep! Yawns.

Think Green!
2007-10-14 15:08:00
I've registered for Blog Action Day some weeks ago and I was supposed to be writing something on the environment for tomorrow, the 15th of October. It's not that I'm giving an excuse, but I'm really out of inspiration right now and I feel that to solve environmental issues words are not really much of a help and we rather need some action. It's really easy to be sitting in front of your PC and then finding some images and information on Google and bang! You got a post ready! People will read it and say wow! And what about when you get out? Did the situation change? Did people stop cutting down forests or littering on beaches? Did the ozone layer mend itself by magic all because of these words?Yeah it didn't and it won't! What we actually need is education; educating the mass about pollution can be a better way to prevent it. Most Mauritians who have access to the net already know about the implications of pollution. By blogging about it, considerable changes cannot be brought....

Something Yellow
2007-10-08 20:09:00
Dudettes and dudes, can you keep a secret? Well I hope you can because this one is a really heavy one; my mother and I are planning a birthday surprise for my sister Loona. Yes Yes a true surprise because most of the time surprises tend to be disclosed 3 weeks or so before the birthday but this time we've done things correctly. The birthday is going to take place in the basement and the color scheme/dress code will be yellow, yeah her favourite color is yellow. I remember for my birthday everything was supposed to be pink and green and we got the cyclone Gamede as a nice gift. So we celebrated my birthday by candlelights in our plain clothes, just the four of us at home with our doggies and a terrible cyclone. But this time dudettes and dudes, this time it will be a nice yellow birthday surprise with lots of flowers (as usual) hihi, some candles and the terribly wonderful drape that my mum has removed from the archives for the occasion (just don't try to understand). Lol.I've got ...

summer, where art thou?
2007-10-06 14:45:00
Ah, at last a post from me. Now you'll ask me where I was. I was around people but I was sick. So sick that all the Kohl on my eyes faded away and for one day in the whole of my life (except when I was a kid, but who cares?). So for one whole day of my life I did not have kohl around my eyes. Aaaaaaaaah, can you imagine it? Don't run away, I will not dare show a picture of that. I admire Jev's courage of looking at me straight in the face after this. hihi.So I slept early last night and woke up in my upstairs room. I did not sleep in my basement. I have not been sleeping there for a while actually. And that's because winter is freaking still here!Well anyway, never mind this, at least the summer blossoms are in bloom and I've got some new bougainvilleas that are waiting to be planted.Yeah I know another flower post! But this is mostly a gardening blog among others dudettes and dudes. You'll know what comes of these flowers later and oh, I bought some seeds to be sown too!Take...

Yes yes ladies and gents, the time has come! We'll once again head to the Raised Plaza to vote. I don't know about you, but I just totally love the pre-election days and all the colors and banners! My all-time favourites are the various speeches. I mean how can you look at people straight in the face while making all these promises? But I'm not here to judge.Sorry for these crappy pictures, I was taking them undercover! I'm not sure I'm even allowed to post them here! I love controversies!Oh and about the slogans, for God's sake they could have been a lot more original!Nah, I'm not complaining but I think that if you're hoping to be elected in an institution like UoM some intelligence and originality need to be put in use! What the hell am I talking about? All you have to do is win a singing competition! Duh!

Random Thoughts

Has it ever happened to you? That you're sitting around scratching your leg and some thought occur to you and you actually wish to share it but never can. Well it happens to me all the time! For instance, recently I've been thinking that the song Doorie of Atif Aslam should be banned on tv and radio. I just can't bear it any longer. Really! I thought it had stopped until I heard it today on tv.Then, don't you think that if there was less (not to say zero) romantic movies and songs, breaking up would have been easier for people? Hell! We could ever have decreased the level of suicide per year.Love songs are really misleading; they either give the listener the impression that he/she is in love or they depress the person to the extent of resorting to desperate measures.Let's face it people, you don't need to tell the one you love that he/she looks like a rose, PC, chocolate, [insert nice word here] to let the person know that you actually care. Yeah love is complicated! It is made...
