Killed by the rain
2008-03-26 17:40:00
So the situation is such; there were torrential rains, you know the kind of rain which causes schools to be closed and kids to remain cozily at home. The only problem was that schools were not closed and kids did not remain at home. People went to work as usual and kids tried to go to school. Some were lucky enough to reach school, others came back home and one of them got killed, I don't know in what circumstances, but my guess is by drowning. It's not a real pleasure to blame institutions and organizations but hell this time I totally blame the ministry of education and the meteorological service of Mauritius. Oh yeah it's easy to blame, I know. But this time I'll also tell you why:Today was the fifth day of non-stop torrential rain. Let's forget the official water level and such things, it could be SEEN that the situation in the streets and bus stations was not appropriate for kids to go out. But then very important persons do not have the time too look out and SEE whether ch...

About the rain
2008-03-25 12:47:00
It's still here. Yeah! Mightier than ever and I'm wondering from where the clouds are getting so much water to throw at us. But I must admit that it feels cozy to sit inside and watch the rain fall while having some cups of hot beverages.Below, some random pictures of the day. I've gone through some Egyptian art books and magazines to seek inspiration for my room's decoration. I've finally opted for a modern but Egyptian touch for the deco. Let's cross fingers and hope it works fine. The rain can be inspiring after all. :D I'll leave you on this note dudettes and dudes and my inspired aliens. Take good care of yourselves.

Rainy sunday
2008-03-23 14:10:00
Rainy days make me wanna sleep or take baths or drink lots of water cause I can't stand humidity. Humidity is boring, it lacks peps and it makes everyone look gloomy and that's how I am right now, gloomy... I went to see my grandma today, brought flowers and stuff, got pissed off at people for being people and returned home wishing the rain could stop and that damned sun could come out, because the day is called Sunday for a reason right? About my room, I bought paint and accessories yesterday. I haven't found the time to paint and decorate though. I chose the most inappropriate time to want a change in my room. I think the change will come later, when I have like 24 hours of liberty per day, now that can be fun!Right now I'm off to cook some fettuccine with a sauce I very much adore. Damn! I wish I could be cheerful right now.
Moving towards the elegant...
2008-03-21 05:12:00
I've been watching so much home improvement and interior decoration shows on TV that they gave me this really powerful need to change the layout of my room and find a way to make everything fit together like they've been made to be here. My room now as it is, has a really childish decoration, with the flower power "mural". Now I want it to be elegant, perhaps that's maturity. I'm feeling really responsible lately, might be that! hihi...So I'm gonna devote my week-end to making my room look more elegant. Won't be an easy task, I can be sure about it. But hey, I gotta find a way. So if you dudettes and dudes and my elegant aliens have some suggestions, let me know. It'll be of a great help! :D

So long dudettes and dudes and my impatient aliens, I'll leave you with those pictures. I'm totally tired and I need a real night's sleep.

Independence Day, our way...
2008-03-12 17:09:00
Yesterday was awesome, everything went as planned. I can say with full assurance that it was the best Independence Day I've ever had! OK, for those who haven't understood what it's all about, we had a sort of picnic yesterday, was at Baie du Tombeau, somewhere near a tree, rocks and the sea. The event had been planned some weeks ago but I was fearing that it would never occur. But it did! :PI was supposed to cook something but since I was kind of taken up the previous day I made some sort of tortillas with chicken and mushrooms. The other foods were awesome. OK, this is sounding more and more like a kid's essay. To end this I'd say that it was a totally crazy day, the kind of day you wish could come everyday! hihi! I haven't got photos of the day but you can check out at Rooch and Keli's place for pics.So long dudettes and dudes and my independent aliens. I'm looking forward to the next independence day! Yayy!

You worship your imagination...
2008-03-09 17:58:00
The title says it all. No, I am not opening war with all those who believe in God but sometimes I'm just pissed off, especially when I see those around me who pray day and night and have tremendous respect for the great beyond and at the same time treat fellow human beings like slaves or meaningless fungi.

Oh great! It won't ever stop...
2008-03-08 11:18:00
About that thing that I did yesterday, I can't tell you now. It'll be out in a week or so, maybe less than that, so you'll definitely get to know. All I gotta say was that it went great and I was quite comfortable with the questions. Right now I'm having a terrible screen problem. My laptop screen is dimming and my monitor is omitting reds, that is I'm seeing the world in blues and greens only from my PC screen. This reminds you of a song? Oh well! I gotta fix that problem soon, cause my not so fabulous eyes won't be able to handle that for long.Aah! so much for a boring Saturday dudettes and dudes and my anxious aliens. I gotta pimp my screens! Yayy!

There's nothing better than an appointment with unknown people to make you feel conscious as hell. Like what if I have a bad hair day? Or what if I look all sweaty? What if they decide that I'm not the right one for this? Or what if what I write is not good enough?Aargh, so much thoughts are nagging me these days. I've even lied down with potato slices on my eyes during the day. I'll never be able to make it, really. But if I did... IF I did, I'll let you know about it and you can be happy for me or mad at me for not telling you about it. Whichever the case it'll be great if it happened.Oh yeah I know, whatever I said does not make sense now. It'll be in the near future. You'll know about it. And for now, so much for my secrets dudettes and dudes and my curious aliens. Now that I've told you guys about it, I'm feeling much better. Hihi... Now I understand why some call this therapy. Realisations break in.
2008-03-03 20:02:00
The zeal is gone and I caught myself watching TV for more hours than what's good for me. I realised that Half Light, the movie, sucks... big time. Believe in the beyond, yeah really... Who the hell were they trying to kid when they made that movie? Hmm, that kid in the movie maybe? OK, I agree some parts of the movie were freaky, I was almost tempted to be scared but then when the ghosts started being friendly and helping out the main protagonist I knew that this movie was not meant for me. But I kept on watching, just in case... And the next thing I knew was that the movie was over and all's well that ends well. Crappy quote. And now I'm waiting for my weekly dose of séance interdite when I could watch a great B-series movie without suffering the worst disappointment of my life. And finally I've realised that a world without kohl is not a world for me to live in. I gotta buy an eyeliner real soon.So much for the realisations dudettes and dudes and my surprised aliens, my TV is f...

Holy Pilgrimage?
2008-03-01 11:30:00
It was close to that. We went to Grand Bassin today. Woke up early, bathed, dressed up, my mum prepared a picnic and we were there in one hour. Yeah! Ain't that awesome? So we reached Grand Bassin, had trouble to find a proper parking space. And minutes later we were praying down there at the edge of the lake. We completed all the rounds of deities and donations in less than one hour. While returning to the car I saw this wonderful purple flower and I could not resist. I managed to get one that has roots to it. Yeah holy pilgrimages are truly beneficial. But seriously, religions and religious festivals should not be taken too seriously as some people just might be taking advantage of that piety and god-fearing nature most people have. For instance I've noticed a serious seasonal inflation regarding the price of bananas, coconuts etc... Basically all those fruits and provisions usually used during this period of time.Plus they were actually selling bael leaves at the entrance of the...

Le bleu et le jaune
2008-02-29 04:03:00
I've got a crush on everything that is blue and yellow, combined or not. I've been inspired by Keli's post on primary colors to make up my own version with two primary colors I absolutely love. Of course the crappy cam-phone of mine did not capture well the colors. Aargh, never mind. The first picture is not from me, it is found on the box of a juice glasses set which I bought recently. I'm proud to say that the glasses are totally mine! hihi.So much for my yellow and blue crush dudettes and dudes and my yellowed and blued aliens. Cheerios.

That 70s show - season 1
2008-02-26 15:01:00
Dudettes and dudes the time has come once again for me to fulfill my MBBian duty and to give birth to a post on this week's theme, which is Season s. So I thought I'd write about the first season one of my favourite TV shows, That 70s Show .That 70s Show saw its birth in 1998 on American TVs. It was much later in 2005 that we Mauritians got the opportunity to view it on our national TV and that too I could not watch the show cause at the time that it was aired I was attending tuitions. Then two years later (last year) I got the whole of season 1 as a gift from Jevin. OK. So much for the background information. Now about the show (I'm talking of season 1 only here), it's truly awesome, trust me. The theme song rocks:Hanging out...down the streetthe same old thingwe did last weeknot a thing to dobut talk to youout in the streetsHello Wisconsin!!Well the theme song was approximately that, yeah I'm lazy to check. Then comes the clothes worn by the actors. The show is located in the y...

Sabotage everywhere
2008-02-25 15:52:00
Returning home today, I saw a lovely house being repainted into a really dull and boring hue of orange, if that isn't sabotage? Then I saw a lovely yellow gate being repainted black! Yeek... You should have seen that! Where are all those lovely and animated colour? Don't make your life lifeless! Dare to be colorful...Finally, there has been a sort of sabotage regarding the Maha Shivaratree festival. Some people are insisting that it should be on the 6th while we will be celebrating on the 5th. My dad's brother who is a pandit is really mad at this. He's saying that in India it'll be on the 6th. Dunno to what extent some people can go to manipulate our holidays. Anyway, so long dudettes and dudes and my sabotaged aliens. Thanks to mayotte-island.com and creativespotlite.com for the pictures.

Just when you start bragging about how life is peaceful and calm when you live surrounded by a forest and greeneries some things come up to just prove you wrong. One of them is this:A damn helicopter! This has been going on for years. I guess the place is uninhabited enough to practice aviation or whatever. Guess they did not think that some people might actually try to work on a Sunday afternoon!Damnit!Anyway, have an excellent Sunday (or what remains of it) dudettes and dudes and my pissed off aliens. I'm off to kick some serious helicopter ass in my mind!

It's the day
2008-02-23 06:47:00
Today is the day. I woke up to heavy rains and winds and thinking why the hell this always happened to me. Can't I have a normal, sunny day for my birthday. I mean please? It's not because I'm piscean that I'm supposed to love water. OK I do love water, but not the kind of water that gets everywhere and ruins birthday plans. Late at night in bed I was thinking that perhaps the forces above were angry at me for something. Yeah I know it's a ridiculous thought but hell don't ask me to think logically at 3 in the morning.Right now it's almost 10 a.m and I'm waiting for my nani (grandma) to wake up so that I could call her to hear her wishes! Aww she's cute!Right now I really wanna go to Mahebourg. That's where I was born! I wanna get back to the roots! Perhaps I'll pay the village a visit soon!Oh and this is Cookie and Kushie, seeing them behave nice towards each other is one of the best birthday gifts I've ever received.About the birthday food, there would be dhal pita, fr...
Gifts?
2008-02-21 19:54:00
When I was a kid I used to know what I wanted for my birthday. I had a list all planned and waited for my parents to ask me what to buy. Now it's different. I don't know what I want, or whether I should ask for something. This year, I'll just let them decide what they want to give me, for a change.Having said this, I think some flower plants would not be bad as gifts! The garden is a jungle already but I'm always longing for new plants. It's just the gardening craze! I just hope I get over it soon.Ah so much for today dudettes and dudes and my crazy aliens. I think it's high time I get some real sleep.

How NOT to be me, in some easy lessons
2008-02-20 16:15:00
Are you one of those people who have been here and gone out wondering how the hell I could be like that and then dreading the possibility that you become like me at some point in your life? Fear no more! I have a solution for you, it's called how not to be me, in some easy lessons.First thing you should know: I have always been like that. And I can actually hear relieved sighs. Yeah I'm happy I cleared out this doubt. But then you'll ask me, what's "that"?. Well that is THAT! That, the way I am, duh! I can't explain further...Let's move on, shall we?Second thing you should know: That photo you see on my blog is the best I can ever look. It's so different from the real me than when I meet people they hardly recognize me! So my advice to you, if you don't want to be like me is to paste an ugly photo of yourself on your blog. Or better yet, don't paste anything at all.Third thing: Never try to do everything by yourself. Trust others. Others can be intelligent and talented too. I...

It's this:Click here for a larger versionSounds like a great event; the rock concert especially and the skating! If you happen to pass by Curepipe on Saturday, bounce in. You'll get to see some great bands live and be able to do a little good action by donating your blood! 2008-02-17 05:00:00
Freedom for me is all about watching the clear blue sky undisturbed. It's about lying on the couch watching cuisine TV without anyone around. It's about worrying for my dogs without anyone telling me I should not worry. It's about crying out loud and dancing on a metal song. It's about eating chocolate mousse without having to skip dinner. It's about not having to keep any secrets. In this sense, yes, I can be free... So tell me, are you free dudettes and dudes and my free aliens?

It's in 1 week
2008-02-15 16:15:00
Yeah it's in one week, the damned birthday; it's not that I don't want it to come but the fact that it will make me older is kind of disturbing. I mean who the hell wants to be 21? 20 was cool. I thought it would make me wiser but it turned out to be the same or worst. 20 made made me stupid, it turned me into a craft, art, garden and festivals lover. I can attest I was not like that. Those who've known me since last year can say, yeah I know Morina, that flower lover. And then someone who've known me for more than that will know of my poetry, Egyptology, literary, abstract art, song writing, singing, guitar playing, piercings, fitness, lemon trees, AIDS combating and benevolent periods. The good thing is that those periods have left in me great memories which I will always cherish and which surface from time to time giving me the opportunity to re-indulge in them. Recently I'm thinking of doing something good again but it will be revealed in due course, I only hope I succeed,...

You know how unexcited I am about the whole valentine thingy. But I got to know that the more you repress something, the more it comes chasing after you. That's what happened today when I was frying some chips. Here's a grease mark on kitchen paper:Yeah if you look closely it has the symbolic shape of a heart. But that's not all. That's really not all! That plant was not like that yesterday! It was freaking not like that! It was all green with just some tiny flowers and now it seems all read with huge, vibrantly red flowers!Ahemm and now if you tell me those are not signs I'll ask you to kindly swallow your socks. OK, I think I'm just going crazy!Anyway, take care dudettes and dudes and my crazy aliens. Happy valentine's day. Aargh.

Undecided - Fawkes
2008-02-12 20:25:00
I was supposed to start writing something about freedom and then I ended up watching a re re re run of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on TV. Yeah I know the books are far better than the movies. It's a universal truth, I won't disagree with that! But I really enjoyed the movie. Perhaps it was the clear image of the TV, might never know. Anyway, what I really like with Harry Potter movies is the music, it's enticing, I don't know how to describe that, it's really attractive and it keeps playing in my head hours and sometimes days after I've watched one of those movies. Hmmm... and now suddenly I've got the irrepressible urge to start reading each of those books all over again. So about the Chamber of Secrets, I think the one who did most of the dirty job and who deserves great praises is him:Image taken from here.Yeah Fawkes , the phoenix. He kicks ass. After all it's him who poked the eyes of the basilisk and brought the Sorting Hat for Harry. He was the one who heale...
Valentine's Day Horrors
2008-02-11 18:06:00
You wanna know what's horrible with all these? It's the fake flowers, the plastic gifts, the freaky plush toys. And these form part of original and romantic gifts? Duh! Double duh! Those horrible stuff have invaded almost everywhere you can set your eye on in Port Louis. I bet the situation is the same anywhere else in Mauritius.Whatever happened to original gifts? Romantic dinners or lunches and flowers? Real, fresh flowers? Huh? Well I guess it's only meant for those who can afford them. In 2006 a flower shop in Quatre Bornes was selling a single rose at 150 rupees. Can you actually imagine the price of a dozen? The flowers sold in the market nearby, still in Quatre Bornes cost lesser than that but then they are not of really great quality. Yeah blame the system or plant flowers!Anyway, my only advice, if ever I could ever give one to you dudettes and dudes and my aliens reading this is to get some damned originality and try to be creative with your valentine gifts.
Lovely Sunday...
2008-02-10 17:43:00
Today I had a lovely Sunday . Not too much things happened but just enough to make it another lovely Sunday. The most pleasant and surprising stuff that happened today is that I got this award (shown below) from Manictastic. It's for his short story contest in which I took part and I must say I'm really touched and really really excited about it! I even showed it to my mum and sister, just to tell you how much I'm happy about it.The short story I had written can be read here. Once again thanks a lot Manico! :DAnother great event in my personal blogosphere is MBB's fourth month anniversary. I wish them the best of luck and keep to the great work going dudettes and dudes at MBB! (sorry for leeching the logo :P )Apart from those, today I realised something really important, Valentine's Day is just some days away and I did not plan anything about it! Oh my God! The 1 word tag
2008-02-09 16:16:00
I've been tagged by Miranda and the tag consists of answering 4 questions with only one word for each question. Quoting Miranda:4 question! Only 4! Looks simple isn't it? The answer will have to be only 1 word. You can add a describtion or picture to explain your answer, but the answer itself will have to be 1 word.Sounds pretty easy and tough at the same time! So let me give it a try:1. What rocks? Mastodon. 2. What sucks? The difficulty of this question lies in the fact that I have to choose only 1 answer. It would be disorder. Disorder as in lack of organisation, order and cleanliness.3. What's awesome? This. 4. What's lame?Anger. So much for my 1 word tag dudettes and dudes and my wordless aliens. It wasn't so hard afterall.
