Affected?
2007-09-26 02:16:00 Oh yeah, somebody just messed up my vacation. I'm supposed to be enjoying the last few hours of this destination, but somebody just wouldn't STOP. Don't get me wrong, it's not my husband. It's somebody I know from way back, and I don't know why I ever got into this. The e-mails back and forth are disturbing and somehow, I don't know why this person is just determined to ruin my holiday.Well, this is what ENVY does to people. So, I got a message for you, you know who you are: EAT YOUR HEART OUT. STAY OUT OF MY LIFE AND SINCE YOU'RE DYING OF ENVY, TOO BAD. This is my life, and there's nothing you can do about it. You're just a pest lurking in my world, and your wayward behavior is gross and disgusting. I'm giving a period to this, you are not going to affect me. Just stay in your own sorry corner.
Last Day
2007-09-26 01:15:00 Today was a very leisurely day and there's nothing to do much but shop for souvenirs for friends, and of course, the daunting task of packing. We woke up whenever we wanted and head out for breakfast atThis bird caught my fancy while having breakfast. Isn't she cute? Here's one more peek at the country with the reputation as the Las Vegas of the Caribbean and with a population of only 70,000 people, 5,000 of which are Pinoys, I heard. This is it for today...in My World.

Aruba Day 7
2007-09-23 21:46:00 Today we took the 15 minutes boat ride to Renaissance Island. It's a private beach/island exclusive to guests of Renaissance Aruba Resort. The boat ride went well... Untill...Yes, Frank and another woman guest, gamely took turns to be at the helm. Scary but fun. I was soaked! The private island is complete with amenities. Just like you are still in the hotel, sans the hotel room of course. It's about 5:00 p.m. here in Aruba as I'm writing this post. I'm just dead tired...What's for dinner? I /we don't know yet. I'm really loving this life. It's really nice not having to worry what to prepare for the next meal. I must say, this is one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. There's no itinerary, we go as we want, no tour times to follow, we get up and retire for the night when we want. Ahhh... this is the good life. Wish it's like this everyday. Now, I say to myself - keep dreaming... This is it for today...in My World.
Aruba Day 6
2007-09-22 16:28:00 Room service for breakfast was the first order of the day, today. We opted for another light breakfast, just enough to rev up our morning. These was what I saw through the balcony of our room, enough to bring a wide smile on my face. Can't help but think about how life has been so good and I thank God for all of these...This is it for today...in My World. More About: Aruba
Yom Kippur
2007-09-22 00:07:00 Today, at sunset Jewish community all over the world will be celebrating Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement, known to be the holiest day of the year in the Jewish calendar.Fasting starts at sunset tonight and breaking of the fast will happen tomorrow also at sunset. Now, why am I even writing about this? Frank, who's Jewish is here in Aruba on vacation. That's the rebel in him. My in-laws must have been disgusted upon hearing of our vacation plans, as the schedule is right on the holiest day of the calendar of their religion.Oh well, they didn't say a word. So here we are ...
Aruba Day 5
2007-09-21 23:32:00 Our day started today with a light breakfast at the Cafe in Marketplace. We've been eating like there's no tomorrow the past few days, so we thought of going light today. This is how the homes of Indian settlers in Aruba looked like in the old days. Wrecked ship - still intact in the middle of the ocean Aruba is the place to be if you're longing for that nice blue sky everyday. Today was no exception. The sun shone brightly and a bit humid, but the strong ocean breeze compensated the heat. Dutch Colonial style buildings and homes painted in pastel colors abound...Simply mood lifting ... This is it for today...in My World.

Bon Bini
2007-09-20 03:39:00 Meaning, "welcome" in Papiamento, Aruba's creole language whose lexicon is drawn mostly from Spanish and Portuguese(60%) and from Dutch(25%). The remainder comes from West African languages and Arawak(the language the native inhabitants in Aruba spoke several hundred years ago). English, Dutch and Spanish are also spoken and that makes Aruba's inhabitants multi-lingual. Aruba, by the way, is part of the Dutch Kingdom.Been hearing the word a lot while here, as the Aruban's are pretty friendly. And guess what? We got free buffet breakfast vouchers from the Front Office Manager. Why? Yesterday, I brought to the attention of the front desk that the latch of the vault on the door be tightened. I was told, it will be done within the day, but when we came back to the hotel at about 10:00 p.m. it wasn't done. I was pretty mad and I picked up the phone to let them know I was disappointed. The F.O. Manager assured it was gonna be taken cared of early today, and offered to send us complime...
Aruba Day 2
2007-09-18 23:11:00 Just resting right now in our temporary abode while F is busy in the gym. Tonight will most likely be Casino night. Hope I'll get lucky because I just started...Shopping... And window shopping... and definitely going back for some stuff from these...The above stores are just in the mall here in the hotel and some of them are just around the corner. At Hing Nung Supermarket, I discovered these...Who would have thought I'll see them here. Hmmmm. Now, I'm thinking of even buying the above items. They're definitely hard to find in New York even in Filipino stores. In fact, from our dinner last night, our waitress was a fellow Pinoy and according from her, there's a growing community of Filipinos here.I definitely anticipated I was gonna shop. The extra duffle bag I've packed will be put to good use, as we are entitled to 5 luggages- 50 lbs. each. I can just imagine Frank's reaction to this and I'll cross the bridge when I get there... This is it today...in My World. More About: Aruba
Aruba Day 1
2007-09-18 06:30:00 We started our day sooo early because we needed to check in at 6:0o a.m. The flying time was about 5 hours, and we landed about 1:00 p.m. The ride to the hotel from the airport was only about 20 minutes.Currently, we are billeted here at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino (a property operated by Marriott). AAA has rated this hotel as 4 diamond so I think we will be comfortable in this place while we're away from home.At the hotel's atrium- this is the boat that takes Renaissance's guests to a private island and beach to spend a day there.Inside our room at the Marina Tower of the hotelThe island view from our balcony in the roomNow, I got a big secret I discovered while walking around. Shopping will be pure bliss. They have all my fave brands and nothing can be better than getting them tax free. Ssssh... Frank doesn't know this secret yet. He'll be sorry, he picked this destination...
Aruba Day 1
2007-09-18 06:17:00 We were so hungry but didn't want to get hotel food. We checked in about 2:00 p.m. and as soon as the Bellman dropped off our luggages in our room, we dashed out of the hotel to grab something to eat. The first place we saw was Gina's Caribbean Restaurant. The food was awesome... More About: Aruba
We remember
2007-09-11 22:40:00 Today, marks the 6th year anniversary of the day that changed the way we live. It was a somber day today, and if I recall it right, this is the first anniversary of 9/11 wherein the weather was really gloomy. In the silence of our room, I say a prayer remembering all the people whose lives were taken on that fateful day. To those left behind and still continue to struggle to cope with their loss, may they find comfort, peace, and forgiveness. God bless...
My world(part 3)
2007-09-10 23:43:00 Tour's almost over. Just walk with me, one last time... As you can see here, our bed is garbed for the season(summer). The rest of the year, as you very well know, the temps here in NY is always cold. So delightfully in the summer, I welcome the idea of being able to use quilts and summer blankets. Behind one of these doors is a walk-in closet(which I adore so much) and the other one is a regular closet More About: World , Part , Part 3

My world(part 1)
2007-09-09 01:16:00 Time goes by so fast. It feels like it was only yesterday, when I was so stressed out with the renovation and busy packing up to move in to our new place. Yes, it's been three years of domestic bliss in this place we call home.I take great pride on the hard work I have put into making this place really feel like home. On a day to day basis, I act like a soldier making sure everything is well kept. I am not taking all the credit though, because it would be unfair to my hubby, who of course made sure and continue to ensure we have enough, so I can get what I want for our home.F's previous apartment(his bachelor crib) would have been good enough for the two of us. The only reason we opted to look into getting a bigger place was that, the kitchen of the previous place was too small for someone that really cook. We didn't have to go far searching. We love the location, wide and tree-lined roadways and spacious open area/property and parks around the neighborhood. We sure do love the f... More About: World , Part
Alien
2007-09-08 00:23:00 I'm not referring to a foreign born resident in a country. I am referring to the "alien" in my kitchen.Seven years ago, after we got married and I finally moved in to F's place, he promised me that for our next place, I will do everything I wanted to do in terms of decorating and furnishing the place. That meant, whatever he had, stock lock and barrel when I moved in, they were gonna be there and the interiors were gonna be the same. I agreed to that, except for two things: I wanted a new refrigerator and a new bed. So, we did get both and we had the place re-painted, pulled up the wall to wall carpeting and had the wood floor re-finished.Almost three years ago, we got a new place, the place we're living in now. As promised, I had the biggest project ever in my life. We gutted the whole place and suddenly I had to deal with an Interior Designer and a Contractor, fabrics, building materials, etcetera. In the middle of all these, I was also planning a "wedding"(our renewal of vows ... More About: Alien
My lovely
2007-09-06 22:08:00 It's been a long day for me. I just came home from the city( Manhattan) to pick-up "my lovely". To those of you not aware of who "my lovely" is, you'll get to know her right now.I've had "lovely" eight years ago, and she needed to have her periodic cleaning, so I dutifully dropped her a week ago. Today, she's back and, I'm so loving her all the more. She's so precious to me(of course, hubby too), that "lovely" has to be insured and be a rider to our homeowners insurance. I'm with her everywhere, thus, the need for protection because I don't wanna just "keep" her. She's so simple and yet so striking(at least, to us), because as they say: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Lovely by her lonesomeLovely with my "original band" (06/28/2000)Lovely with "second band"(06/25/2005)Now, I hope you can pardon the appearance of my fingers. These are the fingers of a working housewife sans housekeepers. Need I say more?
Salt Pig
2007-09-05 23:59:00 Yes, you got it. It's a pig... a salt pig.Why they named it this name, I don't know why. All I know is that, it's very convenient for a wanna-be-chef like me. It comes with a nifty spoon that makes getting the amount of salt I want so conveniently and clean(no spills). Above all, while the "mouth" is wide open, it allows the salt to be exposed in open air which prevent the chances of forming clumps even if I store it inside my cupboard. I discovered it at Williams-Sonoma several years ago. Now, why don't you go and get yours? More About: Salt
Mundane Tuesday
2007-09-05 01:03:00 I woke up quite early (10:00 a.m.) today, considering that I wake up around 11:00 a.m. most days. I knew, today was my supermarket shopping day. I normally do it on a Monday but we woke up 12:00 noon yesterday and there was no way I was gonna go. It's good I managed to make my grocery list last night before turning in. Today, also marked the first day of school and I didn't want to get caught up in traffic by the time the kids are dismissed at around 3:00 p.m.Shopping was a breeze. Checking out was fast, as I checked-out on one of the self-check out machines. You get to pack your own grocery and you handle them the way you want.I'm just glad the day is almost over, as I get into the mode of being "alone again during the day" (taong bahay kasi) till Friday comes. Crystals
2007-09-03 23:42:00 I have always wanted to have a collection of Swarovski Crystals. Whenever I go to Fortunoff, I find myself gravitating towards the crystals area. I just love the sparkle and how intricate the designs are. They're fascinating! My sister must have known. So, on our anniversary in 2003, she gave us a Swarovski Crystal Society membership along with a beautiful school of fish for my first piece. It's been 4 years, and I'm not going anywhere with my collection. They are securely displayed in our curio. I'm stuck and I can't go ahead and buy more to add into these. The culprit? Blame my obsession with cleaning. I can't keep myself from handling them poorly by dusting them every so often. In my mind, the more I get, the more pieces to dust. How sick is that?
Backyard barbecue
2007-09-03 05:41:00 As mentioned yesterday, we went to a barbecue in Long Island. We just got home and we're just so exhausted not from the party, but from the monstrous traffic we had to go through. Going there took us about 2 hours, a ride that would have been 20 to 30 minutes. The ride home was the same thing and when you're behind the wheel as I was, you just can't help but say s----.Oh well, we did have a great time in the company of people we love. Long weekend
2007-09-02 00:27:00 Yesterday, major roadways and expressways were clogged. Commuters rushed to get out of New York for the long Labor Day weekend to celebrate and enjoy the last few days of the season. This day signals that summer is almost over. I wished it's not this soon.Tomorrow, we're heading out to Long Island for a barbecue party. I hope the good weather remain, so we'll have a fun time. With the crowd already in their destination, I also am hoping there'd be no major traffic on the Belt Parkway.Have a great Labor Day weekend, everyone! More About: Weekend
