The Husband Watch: Week 3

Well, we’ve reached the halfway mark and I’m proud to say that I haven’t threatened DH’s life even once! Now that’s an accomplishment! There were times when he definitely got on my nerves but he was always extra sensitive to how I was feeling and would usually leave me alone. I’m glad to say that his collar bone is healing nicely and even though he’s still in some pain, he has pretty much full use of his right arm again. This means that while I’ve been working my butt off (I’ve had to fly the last 6 days in a row!), he’s been at home doing the dishes, doing the laundry, and taking the girls to the park. In fact, when I got home yesterday, he took the girls shopping so that I could take a nap. The best part was the morning he got Girlie Girl ready for school and dropped her off so that I could sleep in. This was a miracle since all Mommies know that if you’re within a 500 foot radius, the kids will insist that you&rsqu...

This past weekend I was on a layover in Seattle, peacefully sleeping in my bed. All of a sudden, I heard a piercing noise. The fire alarm was going off! I looked out the window and saw poeple scrambling to the parking lot. This hotel is known for false alarms, however, to be on the safe side I decided to evacuate, too. The problem was, “Should I change clothes first?” I looked down at my Tinkerbell night shirt and wished that I had packed my Gap pjs instead. The only other clothes I had was my uniform or t-shirt & shorts. Did I mention it was in the lower 50s outside? I decided that the t-shirt was the best option especially since I was bound to see my other crew members down there and the last thing I wanted was to subject myself to unmerciless teasing. So, I ran downstairs in my tee & shrots, wrapped in a blanket, and clutching my laptop. I still got teased. Later we found out that the alarm was triggered by someone smoking in the stairwell.
