Just last week, my neighbour's husband passed away leaving her and their two small kids to fend for themselves. Fortunately, when the husband was alive he had taken up several life insurance policies and that would help the family through this difficult period. Although the amount was not that huge, at least it would suffice till the family decides what to do and adjust to their new circumstances. In our life, we place so much emphasis on daily living that we forgot sometimes that we don't live forever. To Join or Not to Join
2007-11-25 21:22:00 When I first got married, I heard lot of stories from married friends on managing finances. This is especially so when both parties are earning income and is already maintaining separate banking account be it a savings or a checking account. Some of them advised me to keep my personal finances personal and open up a separate joint account instead with my husband so that things don't get too messy in case something happens to the marriage. I find this totally baseless as what is a marriage based on an assumption that "something" might go wrong? What does it say about you as husband and wife? So we both talked about it and decided that best thing was both closed our individual account and opened both a savings and a current account together. A New TV for Mommy
