2007-12-09 11:16:00 How do you cook Filipino foods? It is easy, right? Among the main ingredients, in most dishes, are a little bit of garlic, onion and soy sauce. The procedure is always the same; you have to stir fry the spices, and then add all the rest of the ingredients in the pan.I am already tired the style of this cooking. I have changed some of the ingredients, but the taste is always the same. Asian stores, in the USA are not on every corner. Usually, you can find Asian store in a big city, when there are many Filipono residents. You cannot find Filipino foods in my kitchen, if there are, I only have few. If you cook in the same way you used to, the taste of your cooking is much less than expected, because of the lack of ingredients.I am not in my homeland anymore; so I need to adapt to the foods here and learn to love it. 2007-12-03 20:21:00 I have come to a new realization; never underestimate a child's understanding. I realize now,they are capable of so much more than we think they are. My daughter's generation is different, children learn fast. Maybe it is just because there are more opportunities for children to learn. If I am not wrong, I could have read at age six; though I know that each child is at a different level of their abilities to learn.About four months ago, I was worried about, what I thought was, my daughter's slow development. I felt that there were many things that she should have already learned or should be doing. From that time, I have been teaching a different lesson everyday. She has done pretty good; and now, I cannot help but to think that she is a smart girl for her age.She is only 2 1/2 years old, but she has started reading simple words now. Pre-K is not obligatory for you to enroll your children; but if you want to expose them to other kids and in preparation for Kindergarten, it is advisable to do so.Hubby and I have decided to enroll our daughter in Pre-K for the school year of August-May 2009. In preparation for this, I started introducing and teaching my daughter for Pre-K learning activities. As a mom-teacher, it is hard for me to teach a very young innocent child. My daughter cannot hold still and does not pay attention. Then I came up with different ideas, just to catch her attention. Everytime we played together, I was teaching her too; we were only playing, but she did not know that was already a part of her learning. 2007-11-17 20:40:00 Blogs are a source of income nowadays. I have observed; most of the blogs of my friends are already monetized. My favorite bloggers have their blogs commercialized too. When I was surfing and reading the blogs of others, it discouraged me; I lost interest in visiting their blogs, because of the many advertisements and commercials. I am still visiting their blogs and do comment on their personal entries. One instance, I left a comment on a monetized blog, and I felt that my comment had been neglected. I may be wrong, but that is how I feel. I think in a blog, too many adds would be a cause of taking for granted the comments of visitors. Not all have the same situation, but possibly, this is one of the reasons. From that time, I began to be picky and able to distinguish a professional blogger. Both of them are feeling better now, but I think, hubby is getting sick too. I am the only one who is not sick; I hope that I will not acquire this cold, because it will be a misery for me. We went to our Pediatrician; there were many children in the sick waiting area. Not all of them had the same type of illness, but they were all sick. I think, cold and flu season has come early this year. Be safe, cold and flu can last for a long time, and it is just around the corner. A virus is more active in the colder weather because of its ability to survive in less humid conditions. I cannot avoid recalling and comparing the two.While looking for information, I've read different kinds of books and looked up on the internet, about what to expect during the first year with my baby. It says, most newborn babies cry a lot; so, I was a bit prepared before my first child was born. During the first two months, she was a crying baby. It was hard for me to figure out what she was crying about; it seemed sometimes that she cried for no good reason. Drawing upon that experience, I was and am expecting the same thing with my second newborn baby. But, until now, I am wrong. The second baby tends to sleep a lot, during day or night. I've had a hard time for the first two weeks, that is, from a nursing point of view; because she didn't get enough milk. Potty Training Initiated
2007-10-13 16:45:00 About two months ago, I started training my eldest daughter to use the potty. I tried, maybe, for only two days, then I stopped. I know it takes a while to train a two year old child to use a potty; but, there are reasons why I wasn’t persistent enough to do the training. I was eight months pregnant; it was hard for me to bring my daughter in the bathroom to sit on her potty. She never had much interest, and it has been a long and difficult process for me to do this job. Also, I was focused on teaching her the alphabet and other child development tasks. It was hard for me to do two things at the same time, so I gave up on her potty training.I realized, since my husband is on leave for three months, I could leave this potty training responsibility for him. The Final Countdown
2007-10-04 15:09:00 Down there was supposed to be posted on September 30, 2007 at 3:12 a.m.; but something happened, and I could not think of anything except my hubby. Around 3:30 in the morning my amniotic fluid broke. Hubby was not there; but after one call, he arrived like in a blink of an eye. The contractions become more frequent and closer together, as the delivery of the baby is near. By the time the contractions reach 5 minutes apart, you need to get ready to go to the hospital. But, if the water breaks, you need to go to the hospital, no matter how far apart the contractions are! During my first pregnancy, I was told, by my certified nurses mid-wife and pregnancy class facilitator, that those are the signs of labor. I was looking for these sign, but with that in mind, I did not experience even one of them. My contractions were irregular, from between 30 minutes to 1 hour apart.
