Bowling A Div
2008-04-24 15:15:00 I don't think I should blog much about A Div much until it's over. After the prize presentation, Masters events and all. But here are some sneak peeks (: This is Chng Kiat. He has a LOW GAME of 191. You think his swing is big? I can use Javier's arms for the y-axis and x-axis to plot ... More About: Bowling
NS Medical Check Up
2008-04-23 19:44:00 Umm... NS Medical Check Up... Is pretty much like what Kok recounted it to be. Total 3.5 hour long for me. Got really impatient at the tests. Yeee-ea-ah. That should be it. ... ... ... Oh right. I'm PES A.
A Brand New Day Ahead
2008-04-21 17:24:00 Tomorrow’s quite a day. Dental check up. Boring. NS Medical check up. JEZUZ CRYST. So I’m skipping school. More importantly, it’s the start of Bowling ‘A’ Division. It’s just 4 days over the next week or so. I won’t be playing I guess. 19 boys, 12 school team bowlers. And we 7 just aren’t good enough. But that’s okay, ... More About: Brand , Ahead
To Each His Own
2008-04-21 17:09:00 Oh all divine beings, let me complete this entry without swearing. Today was physical fitness test trial for my class. For those who did well enough, the scores would just be taken as the real thing. And of course for boys, we’d have to run the 2.4 km after the 5 stations if we wanted it ...
Of the Past Week
2008-04-19 14:13:00 I know I owe this entry for quite some time already, but it’s only because it’s a Saturday that I managed to find some time. It’s still CCAs 5 days a week, not much improvement from last year despite no more research attachments, Olympiad trainings, chinese, PW… so quit complaining about this soon-to-be barren website. Ah, ... More About: Week , Past

The Best Name Evar?
2008-04-09 16:21:00 Let me tell you a story. Decades ago, before the death of Hitler and birth of George W Bush… my grandparents decided, for some reason I never had the chance to ask them, to do what would be the equivalent of finding a rusted needle in a haystack in the underwater wreckage of Titanic. Find a better ...
Astro Society Promotional Video
2008-04-08 17:58:00 Yet another epic win. This promotional video came really late because of all the delays that include Fun-O-Rama, Fun-O-Rama and Fun-O-Rama. And fully booked video slots for morning assembly. Took about a weekend of effort, plus a few nights of editing. Probably the most well received video I made so far, and I’m tempted to made sequels… if ... More About: Video , Society , Promotional Video , Astro , Promotional

Happy April Fool?s!
2008-04-01 16:49:00 It’s April Fool ’s Day once again, and we get to see how dry and humourless some people can get. But I did have my fair share of laughter today. In school, the Student Council proved that they have far too much free time on their hands. And they replaced the Principal and Vice-Principals at morning assembly with… plants. And ... Fun-O-Rama XIX
2008-03-30 11:41:00 EDIT: For ALL 167 photos I took, please visit http://gallery.helixated.com/thumbn ails.php?album=13 Quite a wonderful experience. To see the school turn into an epic havoc for once. And that’s just a quarter of the full scale of the event. The opening ceremony which everyone missed out on. My class had two booths: a game stall and a food stall. Naturally, most of ...
ACJC Fun-O-Rama XIX
2008-03-28 17:24:00 I had this original plan, for many months now, to turn this blog completely into a giant shameless advertisement for Fun-O-Rama XIX. I forgot. Oh well. It’s tomorrow. The supposed, Big Day. Our school will be $750,000 richer. YAY! ACJC will be holding our 19th biennial food and funfair, Fun-O-Rama 2008, on 29th March 2008. This event will last ...

Physical Fitness Test
2008-03-24 18:43:00 Being part of the bowling team entitles me to take my physical fitness test much earlier than the rest. After which, if I pass (silver), I’m allowed to skip the single-period conditioning PE. I did mine today. Being a physically fit Singaporean male teenager entitles me to enlist for National Service. I don’t wanna ever do it. So, anyway, ... More About: Fitness , Physical , Test , Physical Fitness

A*STAR Talent Search
2008-03-19 13:50:00 I happen to visit my blog from other computers, not because I’m that vain, but… y’know, just checking my tagboard and stuff. Realised that it takes frustratingly long just to load the main page. Didn’t really notice this problem with my MaxOnline 12000 connection, but the poor web designer in me fail to realise that there are other people with slower internet connection plans around >.< Ah well. I’ll find some free time to remove certain elements of the page. Gonna cut down on a lot of graphics. … So, today was A*STAR Talent Search . It’s just this competition affiliated to SSEF. The prize winners from SSEF were all shortlisted into it, provided that they’re Singaporeans and registered for it. There’s nothing much to say actually. You’re called into a room with a panel of judges, and you’re supposed to present your project within 3 minutes, instead of the 10-plus minutes allowed at SSEF. I rushed through everyt... Two Down
2008-03-18 17:44:00 Oh well. It’s like that. I didn’t make into the school bowling team for A Division. Of course I still get to participate as a reserve or as a pacer, but I don’t really get a proper opportunity to bowl for the school. But I’m not too upset at all. It was one of those I Saw ...
iSee
2008-03-17 17:38:00 A TUAW reader has managed to spot an iPod onboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, which is currently floating around in a giant vacuum. The hawk-eyed reader spotted the iPod from official NASA photos, which showed the device, barely visible, through a cabin window. Interestingly, iPods cannot be taken into space willy-nilly. In fact, the usual lithium ...
Week of Astronomy Competitions
2008-03-17 17:27:00 This comes really late, but oh well. The one week of holidays is also known for the ridiculous squeeze of two astronomy competitions in 4 days. A first in more than a decade of astronomy competitions. And the truth is, I believe most people would find it better this way. Look at it this way. After going through ... Back from Camp
2008-03-15 21:49:00 It’s going to be tediously difficult to do a detailed recount of Bowling Camp , and a painful bore for the people who read it. So I won’t do that this time. But Bowling Camp was awesome! Most of the bowlers currently have personal messages on WLM along the lines of ‘I LOVE AC BOWLING’, ‘I <3 AC ... More About: Back
Galileo Wins. 399 Years Late.
2008-03-15 19:22:00 I know I should be blogging about the bowling camp, but this deserves more attention. Four centuries after Galileo Galilei was ordered by the Catholic Church to come to Rome and stand trial on suspicion of heresy, a statue of the Italian astronomer will be erected at the Vatican. 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy, ... 2008-03-12 17:59:00 No time for anything. Eventful, yes, but blogging’s not really possible. I’ll be off to bowling camp for the next 3 days, 3 nights. Will be back on Saturday night. Yup, won’t be attending NYP. See you guys all! More About: Camp
Into The Holidays
2008-03-11 18:44:00 And today I was nearly knocked down by 3 cars. Running from the front of a car… …into the front of an accelerating car… …into the front of another accelerating car… …is probably not a good idea. Yet Another One on SSEF
2008-03-06 16:56:00 I brought a camera along. Buuuuuut, I didn’t photowhore. So this is what [little] I have. Yes, that is really little, so shut up.
SSEF Silver!
2008-03-06 15:27:00 I… I should be glad I guess. But I’m not. Oh, Silver is definitely good. Wonderful, in fact. Knowing the amount of support we get for SSEF in ACJC, Silver’s quite impressive. Last year, the best we produced was a Silver by Magdalena’s team. And the rest were Merits and Bronzes. Likewise, we repeated that unimpressive feat this year. Me and Shaun won a single Silver together, while the others settled for Bronze. So, we’re probably the school’s flagship team this year. Besides, schools like HCI only managed Golds in 2002 and 2007 previously, with Silver at best in the other years. But then I look at it from a different perspective. I’m in JC2. It’s my last year in high school education — probably the last year I’ll get to participate in science competitions competitively. It’s either I achieve everything I wanna ever achieve in these competitions… or never get a chance to do it again. I guess I’ll never be...
Post-SSEF Judging
More articles from this author:2008-03-05 13:21:00 SSEF gives me yet another opportunity to rant, but I don’t that would be a good idea. So, here’s a summary of today. With juuuust a little bit of rant. Reached Science Centre at 7:45 am. Preparation and booth set-up. Fair began at 9.00 am. A handful of judges randomly flowed in without any notice. A total of ...
