C'mon...now that's just plain mean
2007-10-12 04:41:00 Okay. I like drink. A lot. But abandoning my child so I can go out and "party" is just f*ckin ridiculous. That's against the rules. If you can't stay at home and have a beer while you read your kid a book, but you have to go "out", then you should be banned from procreating. It's like someone injected stupid juice into the nation's water supply recently. Check out this story and prepare to be sickened. At least I know the readers of this blog know better than to do this kind of awful stuff: Now normally I am not one to judge, but just by the looks of those two, they shouldn't be having sex in the first place. But that's just me. Here's a link to the full story. More About: Plain
Walmart: You go to hell! You go to hell and you die!
2007-10-11 05:49:00 Earlier today I was watching a little television while Adriana was asleep (X-Play on G4 TV if you're curious) and I saw this commercial for these drawing utensils designed for little hands and fingers. Here is a pic of what I saw: Now I normally don't just run out of the house and buy something I saw on television, but this was an exception. The markers are washable with soap and water from walls, clothes, dogs, whathaveyou. I thought "Man! Adriana would LOVE to play with these things!" Actually, they looked like a lot of fun for me to play with too, but whatever, nothing but the best for my little girl! So after lunch, I scooped her up and we departed across town to the only place in town I could think of that would carry these awesome looking markers: Walmart . 20 minutes later we arrive at our destination. To be honest, I have NEVER seen this many...um...overweight, no uberweight people in a long, long time. I actually felt out of place, but then I remembered... More About: Hell , Goodbye America
Sorry Sir, but we don't carry change for the dollar anymore...
2007-10-07 17:03:00 So normally I try not to write about anything political here because this isn't a political website, but today is different. I found this video on Youtube and I am wondering how I did not hear about this. What the hell?! I must be completely oblivious to what is going on in the news while being a father and I have apologized to my daughter and wife accordingly. It is my DUTY as a father to make sure that I stay abreast of what is happening in our country to insure that my family's future is safe. In that case, then maybe this is the sort of topic I should be sharing with others. BTW, The "Amero" is on its way. Look it up. You'll find some interesting news on it. My real question is this: How do I help keep this from happening? I know that I can write to my congressman/ senator and get a pre-written response in return. I know that I can protest and possibly get shot/ tear-gassed/ labeled as a "radical" for questioning our government/ killed by "acciden... More About: Change , Dollar , Chang , Chan , Doll
A funny thing happened on the way to the babysitter...
2007-10-04 15:57:00 Hey all. So yesterday Adriana and I were on the way to the baby sitter's house when there was a knock on the front door. (Adriana goes to the baby sitter's house once a week on Wednesdays so that she can have a chance to interact with kids her age without me hovering around. She also needs to experience discipline from other adult figures and I guess this is a good way to do it, but I digress.) I answer the front door and its these two ladies, very sweet looking each holding literature of some sort."Sir, I was wondering if we could talk to you for a moment concerning some of the issues going on in our world." Says the short lady. Oh, one was short and the other was tall and kinda big, like the way Fred and Barney look when they dress in drag. Except no pearl necklaces."Okay." I say, trying to get a peek at the paper and books they are holding. I look closer and think, "Oh crap. Those are BIBLES!"I manage to stammer out a "Oh, you know... More About: Funny , Thing
Why HouseDad ChroniCALS instead of HouseDad ChroniCLES?
2007-10-03 00:16:00 Because I'm a horrible speller, that's why. Well, in all truth, my spelling isn't all that bad, it was just bad that fateful day in July when the wild hair up my ass told to me start a diary of my daily exploits. I'm a writer at heart and the spell checker in word has always been my best friend. Plus, there was this other housedad chronicles site that was on some other blogging site that was very similar in title. But that's really not a good excuse. I just didn't bother to pick up a dictionary at the time. A better explanation would be maybe that I will be forever chronically stricken with child? Or maybe that my wife and I are in a chronic state of parenthood? I don't know. Both of those uses tends to make it parenthood sound akin to being sick. At any rate, at least I know that no one else will misspell that word and have his/ her site confused with mine. Yeah...that's it. More About: Chronicles
I'm much better at Dodgeball...
2007-09-29 15:43:00 I've recently been tagged by Jared and Ace. Now all of likes, dislikes, or personal whatchamacallits are available online for later bribing and extortion. Sweet. 1. What were you doing 10 years ago?Well...ten years ago I was 18 and starting my freshman year at The College of Santa Fe in the Film Dept. I wanted to attend school for the sole purpose of learning animation, but got swindled into taking lame ass film courses instead. Needless to say I didn't try very hard. I became very adept at pawning off last minute dribble as homework and I can still chug a beer in about 6-7 seconds to this day. 2. What were you doing one year ago? This time last year I was working full time, my daughter was 3 months old, and I was just trying to understand what it means to be a father. My lady Lori was working as well, but only for about 16 hours a week. We played tag with baby girl quite a bit. I would get home from work and have half an hour to decompress before Lori would go to work. L...
Leave me alone! I'm in my poop corner!
2007-09-28 16:25:00 So yesterday after I gave Adriana a bath I noticed something quite funny. I dress the little munchkin, comb her hair, and let her run around while I got myself a beer. I turn the corner from the kitchen to the living room and I look towards the patio door and see my daughter. The glass door to the patio is open and behind said door is a little girl grunting and scrunching her face. She's dropping logs, redwood sized ones apparently. I laugh and tell her "I can still see you poopin' sweetheart. You're hiding behind a glass door." She throws her head back and lets out a guffaw before running over to me and giving my knee a squeeze. So I pose this question to you on this wonderful Friday morning...Do all kids like to poop in corners or is my kid weird? If she's weird, that's okay but I would like to know if any of you other parents experience this sort of thing. Have a good weekend! More About: Poop , Leave , Corner

2007-09-26 15:40:00 I actually giggled a little when I read this. I know I shouldn't, but c'mon this has got to be the coolest mom in school. O% Impact = 100% Change
2007-09-22 20:50:00 At least that's what this guy thinks. I found this site recently on the internets and I can't stop reading it. No Impact Man is an excellent blog concerning the experiment that a New York family has recently undergone to improve their quality of life, and in turn, the quality of the world around them. They have sworn off using anything that may have a detrimental affect on the environment. So that means no electricity, save for the one solar-powered lamp they use, composting off all waste, and brushing their teeth with backing soda. And that's just to name a few. Wow. I can't do justice to what this man and his family are achieving through this experiment so check it out. More About: Change , Chang , Chan

2007-09-21 16:05:00 I don't know what is wrong with people nowadays, but it seems I am coming across more and more stories of parents acting ignorant and doing things they shouldn't. Check out what this lady did and prepare to be sickened. Now I'm no expert, but I hope to high heaven this lady doesn't have custody of her children because that would be the worse thing ever. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again...
2007-09-19 06:28:00 Wait a second...no I don't! But watching my little `un reminds me of how fun it can be. The other day Lori was giving our daughter a bath and I stepped in to see how things are going. I look into the tub and witness my baby girl laying on her back, legs fully outstretched, and giggling in what I can only imagine to be complete and utter elation. She is moving her arms up and down the sides of the tub and just giggling. At first I wonder "What the hell she is doing?" Then I remember that I used to do the same thing when I was young. I would lay on my back, with my ears just below the water level and make weird sounds just to hear what they sounded like with my ears underwater. And damn, did it look fun. I couldn't that now because:a: I'm too tall to lay completely flat in a bathtubb: I don't really have the time to take a bath anymore, but I should definitely make someand c: When I get water in my ears, it stays in them for an indefinite amount of timeHowever, jus... The horses are coming! RRRRRUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!
2007-09-16 02:55:00 So my mom and I are watching For A Few Dollars More earlier today and Adriana is sitting there playing with her baby doll next to us. She has pretty much ignored most of the movie, save for the parts where there are horses on the screen. She loves horses. I realize this adoration for the 4-legged animal is strong when out of nowhere I hear a scream that could make a man 10 miles away go deaf...right next to me on the couch. Her eyes are huge and she is pointing intently at the television screen. "AH AH AH AH! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" she says as Clint trots over a New Mexico/ Arizona-esque landscape. Suddenly a shot of Mr. Spaghetti-Western is shown and the horse is coming towards the screen, towards an unsuspecting 15 month old. She stops pointing and stands in front of the couch, mouth agape, as the beast approaches. As the horse becomes larger on the screen, Adriana takes a step back, then another. I watch this unfold and realize that a 37 inch flat screen must ... More About: Horses

$188 laptop...you're better off getting a $400 refurbished Dell.
2007-09-15 16:44:00 Well it seems like the supposed "$100 laptop" really is just a figment of our imagination. Recently found at CNN.com:" The $100 laptop now the $188 laptop CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (AP) -- The vaunted "$100 laptop" that Massachusetts Institute of Tech nology researchers dreamed up for international schoolchildren is becoming a slightly more distant concept. 2007-09-11 15:48:00 I guess my daughter might not be able to play this except in our home by the time she reaches school age:"School Bans Tag After Parents ComplainDiscovery Canyon Campus Doesn't Want Students Chasing Each Other POSTED: 1:04 pm MDT August 29, 2007UPDATED: 2:46 pm MDT August 29, 2007COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A Colorado Springs elementary school is banning the game of tag on its playground -- after some children complained that they'd been chased or harassed against their will.Assistant Principal Cindy Fesgen of the Discovery Canyon Campus school said running games will be allowed, as long as students don't chase each other.Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban, but most parents and children didn't object..." It's a long way to the bottom...
2007-09-05 18:57:00 Sorry for the recent delay in a post. My lady Lori and I went to Ojo Caliente, a nice spa and natural spring resort about an hour north of Santa Fe. My mother was nice enough to watch baby girl for a night while we went galavanting off into the sunset. Talk about relaxing. This place has about 7 or 8 natural hot springs surrounded by beautiful scenery and an excellent atmosphere. If you ever get a chance to go, make it an overnight trip with a loved one because it is well worth the cost, which was a little on the expensive side if you ask me. The actual hotel rooms have paper-thin walls that apparently weren't designed to give privacy. I could hear the guy in the room across the hall talking about what he wanted for dinner. But besides all that, it was awesome. They have arsenic, iron, and soda pools, as well as a pool to dedicated to taking a mud bath. That was fun. After that on our way home, Lori and went to the Rio Grande Gorge, about 15 minutes north of Taos, New Mexico. Below... More About: Long , Bottom

Brainfood!
2007-08-27 19:11:00 As you all may have noticed, I LOVE fish. I love grilling it, baking it, searing it, eating it raw, however I can get it. My family, unfortunately, is subjected to seafood at least twice a week because of this. But hey, fish is supposed to help your brain right? It better, because I just made some catfish on the grill last night that melts before it even gets to your mouth. I put the recipe in the recipes section (where else?) Hope you like it!

More articles from this author:2007-08-24 16:00:00 Yesterday afternoon I went to Las Cosas (a cooking/ kitchen store) in Devargas Mall in search of ice cube trays. Incidentally I couldn't find any ice cube trays, but found this sweet ass rib rack for 8 bucks that I will be using from now on. Anyway, I have Adriana with me and I place her in the car and off we go in search of plastic trays to hold ice. I'm heading to Bed Bath and Beyond because I'm convinced that their stuff is just as cheap as Walmart/ Target/ Big Lots since everything in our country is made in China by very small hands. And I don't mean by stereotypically small adult hands, I mean by children. That shit still goes on you know and probably always will.About half way to BB&B, Adriana begins calling my attention from the backseat "Da-Da-Da-Da-Dis! Daaaaaaaa -Daaaaaaaa! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" So I turn around and ask "What's wrong sweetie, please don't tell me you just left a deposit in your diaper because I just used the last diaper at the mall.&q...
