Do You REALLY Need a Computer?
2007-09-27 02:18:00 Betcha don't. In fact, not many really do. For several years kids' reasons for wanting a home computer was so they could get their homework done on it. My son has NEVER done homework on a computer. It's still pencils and paper. Kids absolutely do not need a computer, especially one of their own. Sites like MySpace and others are complete time-wasters for kids and the Internet itself only exposes them to the filth they will soon enough hear and see at school and church. I can see people using computers and the Internet for job searching, school work researching, and the like, but computers are not used for that. While computers connected to the Internet are available in most public libraries, people I've talked to who work at these libraries spend most of their time removing porn from them. Yeah, that's research.Another reason most "home users" don't need a computer is that they have no one to work on them. Unless you have very reliable computer s... More About: Computer , Ally
Those Desperate Brewers
2007-09-25 15:51:00 In almost every game their manager tries his best to get thrown out, and usually succeeds. Of course the idiot is using the oldest ploy in the baseball manager's manual to get his team "fired up" to win every game they can. The Brewers are currently 3 games out of first place in the NL Central division, and last night's game was no exception, even though the Brewers had a 12-5 lead over the Cardinals when manager Ned Yost was tossed.Desperation moves on a team that can't seem to do anything right, except apparently keep promising that fat slob Prince Fielder burgers and pizzas so he'll get just one more home run for the team. Here's a quote from MLB about last night's bullshit:"We're in a tough spot right now and we have to win all of our games," said Brewers starter Dave Bush (12-10), the beneficiary of a big offensive night. "Everyone is a little fired up right now and sometimes that gets expressed in different ways. We won the game and that's a... More About: Desperate
What is Karma Anyway?
2007-09-24 02:52:00 Most of us see karma as either good or bad deeds catching up to us. I personally worry more about bad karma than I look forward to the good kind. Here's a quick definition of it from Wikipedia:According to karma, performing positive actions results in a good condition in one's experience, whereas a negative action results in a bad effect. The effects may be seen immediately or delayed. This means that if you do good things, good things will also happen to you. If you do bad things, these things will also catch up to you and karma will likely knock you on your ass when you least expect it. As i said, I am more worried about the "bad karma" getting me back, and therefore that is just one reason that I try always to do the right thing. Apparently some idiots I know are entirely misinformed and living by the rule that karma only means good things. These people need to wake up and see that if they screw up, life will screw them back. These people are complete fools, how... More About: Karma , Arma
Bye Bye Barry
2007-09-22 17:50:00 Before Mr. Steroids could even get the "I don't think I want to be back at San Francisco next..." out of his mouth, the Giants said they wanted no more of Barry Bonds. It's funny how he said he wanted to finish his career there, and that might well be true after all. I listened on Fox last night as their version told of Barry giving a news conference telling the world that he wouldn't be back with the Giants next year, but apparently he didn't know that everyone already knew that, since the Giants' owner came out with a statement earlier in the day.I can understand the team not wanting him around. I've never seen the Giants in such a slump, nor have I seen them at the very bottom of the standings in recent memory. All of this IMHO is because of Mr. Bonds, and all the good and bad attention put on him. Hell, I wouldn't care about the games either if I was on a team where all anyone seemed to care about was another player's next home run. What about MY ho...
Why Would Anyone Believe It?
2007-09-20 17:46:00 Al Qaeda has issued a statement saying that October 12th would be a "day to remember" for Americans. Now, I can understand that they know they've got most Americans shaking in their boots these days, but do they really think we're stupid enough to believe that Al Qaeda would just set a date for everyone in this country to prepare for? Jesus, how ignorant do they think we are? I do understand the government having to be watchful for events on that day, and the U.S. will probably spend millions of dollars in beefed up security just because some extremist picks a day on the calendar that Americans will "remember". It's sad that just a handful of idiots can cause so much grief in the world, but when you think about it, I suppose anyone "could" be a terrorist. To most Americans, the word terrorist is synonymous with someone in the Middle East, but anyone who is able to strike fear in people could be called a terrorist. The gangs we have in our...
When You're Ashamed of Your Family
2007-09-19 14:47:00 First of all, this post is not about my wonderful wife or kids. This post is about people I've known a helluva lot longer...my whole life, in fact. It's about mothers, fathers, and sisters whom I thought I knew, but I got fooled once again. I do not speak to my mother, father, or sisters. There are some very good reasons for that, although if anyone asked them what the problem was, they would likely say that I'm "mental" and that my wife is the Devil. They are idiots, and live in a constant state of denial that anything in that little horrible group of theirs is ever wrong. But there's a lot wrong with those people. My sister called my wife horrible things, as did her daughter. My father and other sister simply stood by and allowed her to do these things without even a trace of comtempt for her thoughtless actions. But this is not the first time this has happened. On a couple of other occasions my unbalanced sister screamed out at my wife like some ... More About: Family , Sham , Shame

The Reds = Supreme Spoilage!
2007-09-15 03:58:00 I am a Reds fan, and have been for a few years. They haven't really won much since the World Series in 1990, but this year they've got a better team than I've seen in recent seasons. Unfortunately for them, they got off to a terrible start this season, but made up for it since the All-Star break in early July. Problem is, their division is a tough one, with teams like the Cubs, Cardinals, and Astros wanting first place too. This year the Brewers have somehow miraculously put together a team that won like a ball of fire at the start of the season, only to fizzle after the break. This is where the Reds shine.Spoilers in baseball are teams who win games that will do them no good as far as their place in the division, but a win by a "spoiler" sure puts the skids under teams in first or second place, and this year is a doozy of those "spoiler" years for the Reds! During the remaining 16 games of this season, the Reds will indeed help to shape exactly wh... More About: Supreme
Families: Love Them? Leave Them?
2007-09-13 21:07:00 I suppose there are always a few people in mid to larger families who would desperately want to find some sort of "Aladdin's lamp", get three wishes, and make the first one a wish that he/she could choose a different family. I am one of those people. While I love my wife and kids and get along with them well enough, it's the sisters, parents, and some others with whom I have a problem.I have always lived by the "just get through it" adage as far as dealing with my family all my life. My mother would say some stupid, off-hand, and hurtful remark and I would wince and let it go, just because she was "Mom". My father would be a complete jerk and I would get upset and soon get over it just "because he's family". There seemed to always be some reason for me to be upset with someone in the family, although I noticed a pattern that I soon sickened of.Over time I noticed that people's comments were getting more frequent, less tactful, and I s... How Desperate Could a Loser Be?
2007-09-12 18:02:00 I've always hated that loser comedian Kathy Griffin from the first time I saw her on a couple of episodes of "Seinfeld" long ago. She pissed me off the moment she opened her mouth, and now she shows the desperation of someone trying to make a name for herself anyway she can, regardless of who she offends. She made a pre-taped acceptance speech for the Emmy awards that are coming up this weekend, and she made a couple of terrible remarks about Jesus in it. She of course is getting all the attention she wants now, but I fail to see the humor in having people sit slack-jawed as you blast religion. This is from Reuters:LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comic Kathy Griffin's "offensive" remarks about Jesus at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be cut from a pre-taped telecast of the show, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences said on Tuesday. Griffin made the provocative comment on Saturday night as she took the stage of the Shrine Auditorium to collect her Emmy for... More About: Loser , Rate , Desperate
9/11...Why Isn't This a National Holiday?
More articles from this author:2007-09-11 18:16:00 September 11, 2001 was a terrible day, and probably the worst in U.S. history...so why is there no national holiday honoring the remembrance of this tragedy? My son went to school today just like any other day, and even he thought he should have been out of school because of it (although I daresay he had other reasons of his own), the kids went on to school without many of them every remembering what happened on that dreadful day. People need to remember, and if Congress can still honor George Washington and Abe Lincoln, then it can damn well honor those 3,000 people who lost their lives that morning. If that date is so special, why in the world isn't every bank closed, every school?George Dubya Bush declared today as some sort of something, but for the life of me I can't remember what he called it. Obviously it didn't mean too much, and was never voted as a national holiday in congress, and that's a shame. More About: National , Holiday , 9/11 1, 2 |
