2008-06-22 22:50:00 Wow, it has seriously been a long time since I posted! I almost forgot how to do it, ok maybe not quite that bad. I have been wanting to get on and at least post giving reason to my complete drop off the blogging world but for some reason it has been hard to find time to check emails, much less blogging. I might get on for 5 minutes one day and then go 3 days without even getting a chance to check emails. Since I missed a rather important email last Friday this past week I have been trying to at least get on and check emails but any other activity on the computer has been slim to none.You might think, what on earth have you been doing that is taking so much of your time? And the answer to that is rather long and tedious and involved quite a lot of sunscreen but I will try to keep it brief.Nobody probably remembers this, but back in February, there was a prayer request post involving my grandmother who had hit her head. DUSS Camp!
2008-06-22 02:20:00 Since Monday, Sarah, Sam,Matthew and I have been at the Duke University String School Camp . It was every day from 9:00 to 3:00, but we had to get there at 8:00 to help set up. The whole week was a blast! Here are some pictures of our week at camp. Thanks to my Dad for the pictures of the concert. A Day At My Grandparents!
2008-06-12 12:40:00 Today we went over to my mother's parents to see my Aunts from Boston. It was really good to see them and my Grandparents. We also helped my Papa in his garden. Some people here are going to think this is really weird but, I LOVE to dig up potatoes! I just finished eating potatoes, green beans and squash for dinner. YUM!:) Keep going down.
Naomi update
2008-06-11 00:34:00 For those of you following baby Naomi 's progression though the myriad of diagnosis she has endured the last week, here is an update. It appears that tomorrow, barring any complications that ALL will be coming home. The long time pediatrician of the whole Garner clan believes what has transpired has to be considered "miraculous". This coming from an unbeliever is further proof of God's mercy and the power of prayer. Naomi appears to have all her cardiac system in place and operating within normal ranges- all she seems to have is a crooked aorta compared to the usual candy cane shape. But this does not seem to be a huge problem as the initial diagnosis was. So thanks be to our healer and deliverer Jesus Christ. Please continue to pray as the family returns wearily home from a wild week in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. More About: Update
Naomi update
2008-06-04 17:54:00 After further testing, thankfully, the initial diagnosis of an interrupted aortic arch is not what Naomi has. It appears she has all of arch in place but it is just narrowed and her VSD they believe will close on its own. She will need surgery to open up the arch but it is much less invasive and complicated. 2008-06-04 15:41:00 Naomi Garner was born Sunday morning weighing in @ 8lbs 14 oz and was 21 inches. She is the 2nd daughter of Nathan & Rebekah, the 7th grandchild of Daniel and Cheryl Garner- all who are a part of our church and the 4th grandchild of Charles & Diane Ford, good friends from Boone. Naomi was diagnosed early this morning with Interrupted Aortic Arch with VSD. Please pray for Naomi and today's tests, the surgery in the next day or so, enough tissue to make the repairs, peace for the Garner family and protection for Naomi. More About: Baby , Prayer , Naomi

They were our next door neighbors when we lived in Cary! It was really wried seeing were we use to live! It seemed so much smaller! We had a really nice visit with the Montgomery's. It's really strange to think at one time we lived right next door and would see them every day! It brought back some really good memories !!At the Montgomery's! (Not that it has been extremely active of late) :p Sarah and I are departing for New Attitude in Louisville, KY and should return sometime in the middle of next week. (AP) - Two Somerset County men are charged with trying to steal live power lines that were still attached to a transformer and utility poles.Police said Kevin Lee Lytle, 27, and Daniel Jay Basinger, 24, both of Confluence, were shocked during the theft attempt on May 3 in Lower Turkeyfoot Township.Both were charged Wednesday, but only Basinger was well enough to attend his arraignment on the attempted theft charge.Police say the incident disrupted power to area residences for about five hours. The child, Maria, age 5, was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Hospital, which confirmed the death, according to Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol. She was hit by an SUV driven by her teenage brother, she said. Police did not give the driver?s name. Somehow that video was lost or recorded over so I never got to see or post it, but last Friday was May's dance and a clip has made it into my hands. The summer volleyball season has begun
2008-05-20 01:23:00 With the coming of warmer weather also comes the greatest summer sport known to man, volleyball! I think most folks who read the blog already know we love volleyball. It is a game which requires skill, (bump, set, spike) plus the ability to jump around like a kangaroo and even when you lose it is great fun. :D We usually get together on Sundays after church and in years past it has been very interesting to see how people's competitive side comes out. He allegedly threw several M&Ms at a Des Moines police officer, who was investigating a hit-and-run accident involving an intoxicated man.Drake security guards on the scene noticed M&M candies falling on the ground around the officer, according to police reports. I figure it is worth posting again so from the archives of September 2007, Cell Phone Tip #73:When talking to another person by cell phone, if the call is dropped in a bad service area the person who initiated the call is responsible for calling back. Both parties should not try to call each other right after the dropped call, as this usually will result in a busy signal as they both try to reach each other. When a call is dropped the original "caller" should be the one to once again try to reach the "callee" if followed, this tip can save much frustration for the members of a dropped call and put an end to voice mail that starts out like "I just lost you, and now your line is busy...." He has a definite folkish indie type style that usually has a simple repetitive melody pared with some just killer cheesy lyrics. ("I Need You Like a Donut Needs a Hole" :D it makes me smile just typing it out) Anyway in the absence of something more worthy to blog on, he has a song called All I Want is You" that has been making the rounds in my brain for several weeks. The way the simple acoustic rhythm just flows along is very catchy. Notebook Blogging Season Final

These past two days we had our finals which actually were a lot easier than I thought they were going be. We had one where we had to estimate the materials for a complete house and one involving building code.I am not one of those lucky individuals who possesses a photographic memory where everything you read or see is ingrained in your subconsciouses. Rather my memory is slightly strange in that I tend to have very detailed memories of events, almost like instant replay of things that have happened in my life. Almost everyone I know has their own "instant replay" section in my mind, all I do is think of that person and it is like a list of clips starts playing. It is weird, I may have not seen someone in years and we come in contact with each other and my mind will go to the time we were playing hide-n-go-seek and they hid in the trash can!Anyway it is sometimes hard for me to reme... 2008-05-07 00:35:00 Today is NC's primary for the November elections. Rather than join most of the United States on February 5th, we wait three more months to have our primaries. The lateness does not matter that much except usually by this time a presidential candidate has been picked and it does not really matter who you vote for. This year is an exception for the Democratic party, NC's primary actually has some meaning in that race, but since McCain is really the only guy left for the Republicans their presidential primary is, to quote Matthew West, "going through the motions".The fact that McCain will be the the eventual Republican nominee bugs me, as I don't particularly like McCain, he has some good things going for him but I have felt all along he is more in the mold of a Kennedy style liberal than a Reagan conservative. 2008-05-02 21:40:00 FORT WORTH, Texas, April 30 (UPI) -- Police in Fort Worth, Texas, said a man has been arrested after he presented a check made out for $360 billion to bank tellers.Bank employees told investigators that the check held by Charles Ray Fuller, 21, made them suspicious, so they phoned the account holder and verified that the check was bogus, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Wednesday.The account holder told bank employees that Fuller was her daughter's boyfriend and did not have permission to deposit or cash the check.Police said Fuller told them during his arrest that he is attempted to start a record label and his girlfriend's mother gave him the check to help fund his operation.Arresting officers said they found just under two ounces of marijuana and a .25-caliber handgun with a magazine on his person.Fuller was charged with fraud, unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of marijuana.
