My brother Nicholas
2007-12-30 14:12:00
Today is my brother Nick's 18th birthday. Nicholas and I have been sharing a room for 15 years, I still remember the day he moved into my room and we started our wonderful brotherly love filled experiance of rooming together. (For people who don't know us that well, that last line has some sarcasm ;) ) Nick and I don't always see eye to eye you could say, sometimes it is like mixing oil and water personality wise. Because I am older, I have on occasion been a bit of a "my way or the highway" brother. :p But I have learned, and am still learning to listen to Nick's thoughts and opinions. There is a 5 year difference in age between us but we look enough alike that people who don't know us that well have a hard time distinguishing between us. I get called Nick and he gets called Will more often than not which is actually quite funny. Even though he is now slightly taller than I am, he occasionally steals my clothes without asking and I sometimes want to toss his bed out the window,...

A film I want to watch in 2008
2007-12-29 19:37:00
I am not sure if anyone who reads this even knows who Ben Stein is, if you have never heard of him, he has been a writer, a commentator, an actor, a lawyer, a White House speech writer...lot of different things in his lifetime. He has been working on a documentary called "Expelled" due to hit theaters in February. The documentary focuses on the the great political intimidation taking place in academia against any mention that a) Darwin was wrong and b) the existence of a Creator is a plausible explanation for the complex universe in which we live. Here is a very short teaser:Of course I think most Christians already know there is "political intimidation taking place in academia" so it is not a new subject, but the film looks like it could be very interesting. There is a much longer trailer on the film's website If you have time, check it out.

Post-Christmas post :p
2007-12-27 17:11:00
I hope everyone had a great Christmas , I know I did! :D Because most of our family is in about an hours drive radius from us we usually have quite a gathering for Christmas. This year was no different. On Christmas eve, my mother's family came over so we had 30+ people running around, about half of them under 18. It was a little loud but I guess we are just used to the chaos that comes from large family gatherings. I was talking with my cousin and the subject came up that when all the cousins get married if they just have 2 kids each we are going have to rent a gym or something as there will be 80+ people!Christmas day was actually much calmer, Sarah Nick and I (the older three) tried to sleep in, but the younger crowd having been up since 6AM had other plans. We ended up having to get out of bed at 7:30! :( Actually for me 7:30 is a bit late, but I have been on a Christmas time schedule which is something like go to sleep around 12:30-1:30 and wake up whenever so 7:30 was a little...

Suspect wore stolen jewelry near ownerNEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- New York police said a suspected thief was apprehended after he wore stolen jewelry at the booth the items were taken from.Jeweler Susan Manley said she was manning the "Dazzler Studios" booth Monday in Bryant Park when a man walked by wearing a citrine pendant and an amethyst ring that had been stolen from the booth the previous day, the New York Post reported Thursday.Manley said she alerted a nearby maintenance worker, who radioed for security and trailed the man to a nearby Japanese restaurant, where he was apprehended by police. The suspect was identified by police as Jose Perez."I have a lot of problems with theft. Things get stolen all the time," Manley said.Police also found a jacket and duffel bag full of jewelry and videotapes in the possession of Perez, who was charged with grand larceny."He came back wearing the same jewelry? How stupid can you be," said Joseph Rice, the maintenance worker who followed Pere...

Some quotes
2007-12-20 23:28:00
Wow! It has been a while since I last posted. I had been meaning to post every since a got back from New York.... but it has just taken me a while to get back in the swing of things. I was reading a blog today and it was talking about quotes... everybody who commented left a quote..... as I was looking up some quotes to comment I realize that I should just put some of them on this blog. So with out further ado..... here are some good quotes....G.K Chesterton: ?To love means loving the unlovable. To forgive means pardoning the unpardonable. Faith means believing the unbelievable. Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless.??Thieves respect property. They merely wish the property to become their property that they may more perfectly respect it.??Man is an exception, whatever else he is. If he is not the image of God, then he is a disease of the dust. If it is not true that a divine being fell, then we can only say that one of the animals went entirely off its head.?Winsto...

Good Search
2007-12-20 07:53:00
I came across this site by way of another blog and I thought I would share. Good Search is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. It's a simple and compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it?s powered by Yahoo, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers ? the users and the organizations do not spend a dime! Of course it is not the same as just donating money yourself, but it is nice to know that as you search around some of the advertising revenue will be going to a good cause of your choice! :) It is worth checking out: www.goodsearch.com If you want to add it to your search bar in the top right hand corner of your web-browser there is a tutorial hereRemember "Of alternators and dead batteries" and how I drove to K-mart to buy a set of jumper cables? If you don't reme...
The cold has followed me
2007-12-18 18:14:00
This morning when I woke up my toes were cold! This was rather surprising as my feet hardly ever get cold, my ears and hands tend to fight each other for "coldest extremity" I maneuvered myself through the obstacle course that is my room right now and walked down the stairs. Upon reaching the wood floor, the thought that socks might have been in order quickly flittered across my brain only to be crushed by the hunger train. After finding something with somewhat nourishing qualities, I finally thought to check my thermometer and see why on earth my toes were cold. I was guessing for high 20s but to my amazement it was right at 20°! It is too bad precipitation did not follow me from NY like the colder weather. Cold weather without precipitation is like cake without icing, it is good by itself but with that extra goodness on top, it becomes great. Ok sorry this is a bit of a ramble, if you can't figure it out I am really missing the snow from NY right now! :pTo make up for possibly b...

A rather large post on our trip, part deux
2007-12-18 02:48:00
So remember at the start of my last post I said we had "enough warm clothes for an expedition to Antarctica"? Well this was not far from the truth. The funny thing was, although the week before we came had been quite cold, the whole time we were there we had experienced pretty mild weather. That is, until the day of our departure, Thursday. Thursday morning I woke up and was greeted by this view out the window near my bed:It started snowing that morning and kept right on snowing for almost the whole day! We had become snowed in!Sarah and Olivia waiting to give the snow plow guys hot coffee and cookies, Judah is manning the camcorder.Judah shoveling the roadThe following is a video shot by Judah of Sarah and Olivia being, well, excited about the snow or something :pMore pictures of the snow...Snow fight! Olivia and Sarah went out to shovel the walk, except Olivia had an ulterior motive. As soon as Sarah had her back turned away, Liv with her shovel full of snow clobbered poor Sarah.S...

A rather large post on our trip
2007-12-17 01:52:00
Last Sunday around 6am, Sarah and I climbed into my car to depart on our journey to NY to visit friends. We had our lunch, directions, enough warm clothes for an expedition to Antarctica and 160+ hours of Adventures in Odyssey. When we left it was still dark outside and as we drove we were greeted by a wonderful sunrise:We drove and drove through VA, drove through WV, drove through MD, drove and drove and drove and drove through PA, before we finally arrived in NY and just for good measure we drove in NY for a while as well. 660+ miles, 10 hours 41 minutes, two gas stops, and a bathroom stop later, we had arrived. It is actually a pretty easy drive, you just put it on cruise control and well, cruise. On our last trip to NY, Sarah had planned to make a basket with Anja, who teaches basket making classes. Unfortunately since our last trip was cut short she was unable to be in the class. This trip Anja was able to show Sarah how to make a basket and Sarah was able to finish it before w...

Sarah and I singing Christmas songs
2007-12-08 15:44:00
Christmas is only 17 days away so I figure the best way to end a week of posting videos is to post a Christmas video, one involving Sarah and myself no less....Sorry this is slightly bad quality, it is 18 years old :p Sorry if I bored anyone by just posting videos this week, tomorrow Sarah and I are heading to NY to visit some friends so this past week there was a lot to get done and I just did not have much time to blog. My sister Anna may post something while we are gone, if not, the next update will probably be next Friday or Saturday with pictures from our trip. :)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
2007-12-06 06:38:00
Anyone who has been following the progress of the second Chronicles of Narnia film, "Prince Caspian" probably already knows that the first trailer came out a few days ago. I was going to post a different video today but I figure since I have been posting videos this week I might as well post the trailer in case you have not seen it yet. :)Personally for me, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was rather disappointing, it seemed they tried to be like Lord of the Rings and it just came off badly. They have great source material it just needed to be implemented better in my opinion. Hopefully Prince Caspian can try not to copy other fantasy films but create it's own look....

Paul Potts was just your average cell phone salesperson when he decided to try out for Britain's Got Talent. The Judges just kinda rolled their eyes when He said he was going to sing Nessun Dorma. (Nessun Dorma is a opera song that was made famous by Pavarotti.) Check out this video to see what happened!! When I watched this I seriously got goose bumps!!Now watch this video to find out how Paul did in the competition. :)

This week Sarah and I are going to be posting some videos that we think are worth sharing. If you are on dial up like I know some people are, your local library probably has high speed you can use. If you have no library with high speed, then you are stuck with having to wait for them to load if that is the case I am sorry, I know what it is like....Today we have two videos from Igudesman & Joo, two terrific classical musicians who mix humor with music. They have a website hereIf you like them, they have several other videos on youtube :)

Adventures in uh....grocery shopping?
2007-12-01 20:34:00
Last night after work I headed over to Matt's house to hear his brother David give a speech he had to give for a class. The plan was that we would eat dinner (tacos) and then he would give the speech. I was in charge of chips, except on the way over plans changed and I ended up not having to stop and get chips. The reason the plans changed is there was nothing in Matt's house for tacos. It seemed a run to the grocery store was needed! So myself, Matt, David and another friend there for the speech, Daniel, all piled in David's car and went to the grocery store......Since I had my camera with me, this unusual event was documented: We find the taco supply isle! One of the selectionsDaniel showing us all his preferred brand of shampoo, David in not sure what to think....Daniel dusting David's face.....David pointing out a good deal on chips, which we boughtThe good deal on the chips was possible with Matt's VIC cardEveryone figured I s...

Man caught trying to steal ATM with backhoe.COLLIER COUNTY, FL: Deputies caught a man early Friday morning trying to steal an ATM from an East Naples bank by pulling it out of the ground with a stolen backhoe. Brady Lee Wright, 22, is charged with burglary of a business, two counts of grand theft and two counts of criminal mischief. Investigators say Wright stole the backhoe from a construction site near the intersection of Rattlesnake-Hammock Road and Collier Boulevard. He then allegedly drove it to the nearby Regions Bank at 8340 Sierra Meadows Boulevard. The silent alarm at the bank went off around 6:45 a.m. when Wright knocked the ATM over. When deputies arrived minutes later they saw him pushing the machine with the backhoe. "I've picked up vans that have had ATMs in them, where they would back into a 7-11 or a convenience store, and they wouldn't make it very far. But for someone to drag this with a backhoe and attempt to get in and out, not very smart, not very smart at all...
