Drawings Collection Book
2007-05-11 06:18:00
I have been encouraging my son to draw and colour for quite some time. He didn't seem interested. I can tell from how he refused to colour his school homework. Even if it only a tiny picture. If it's painting and making a mess, yes he love it.So I thought this will be a good craft. Hopefully he will find interest in drawing and colouring in his own drawings collection book.Material needed: Paper (we are using 11" x12.5") String Colouring medium (we used colour pencils) How to do it: Lay all the paper together.Put a few paper clips to secure it.Punch a few holes on one side of the collected papers.Use the strings to tie them up.Decorate the cover. The fancy book way::: That's what we did :: Cut the papers in staggering sizes.Colour on edge of all the paper.Gather the paper with the biggest piece at the bottom.Continue with the instructions for the normal book.Note:If you have those fancy scissors that cut out zig-zag or wavy line, you can let your child use that instead of the norm...

Apple Printing
2007-05-03 10:30:00
I'm planning to do a 'A-Z' of art and craft with my daughter. Hopefully I won't get stuck with a alphabet. We are doing A today. A is for apple, of course, so it's apple printing today. I didn't guide her today. She seems to remember how to do it. I put the materials on the table and before I could guide her, she already grab the apple and started doing it.Materials needed:Paper Paint - Toxic free and washable Fruit, cutted into half (We used apple)How to do it:I use a paper plate to hold the paint so there's lesser things to wash. Dip the apple in the paint then transfer to the paper.Stamp it away! That's all! Easy and fun!

Edible Art - Printed Bread
2007-04-27 10:06:00
I have not done any craft with my son lately because we fell sick one after another. Plus the amount of homework and spelling my son has from school. I'm tired after guiding/monitoring him (otherwise his mind wanders off to somewhere else).I was preparing Tea for my son and I thought why not him do it. Still consider a Craft and I bet my head for this that he will enjoy it. See, I still can post this - my head is still on my shoulders. hehehe~Materials needed:1 slice of old (not stale) breadCookie cuttersHow to do it:Just press the cookie cutters on the bread.Don't press too hard and cut out the shape. That's not what we want. Just hard enough to get the shape imprinted on the bread.Toast the bread using a toaster or like us, using frying pan with the bread face down. Not too hot though. Otherwise it will get burnt.Mommy check and remove bread from frying pan.Since you can keep this piece of craft, eat it! Remember to scrape the burned part off the bread before eating.Note:If you...

Glittering Easter Eggs and Baskets
2007-03-27 11:05:00
This is another Easter craft we made today. It has 2 parts, the basket and the eggs. I think this craft is quite common. We did this last year too.Part I: THE BASKETMaterials needed:Paper Cup1 strip of Cardboard paper, 20cm x 3 cmCrepe papers2 FastenersHow to do it:Punch 2 holes on the ends of the cardboard strip.Punch 2 holes on the opposite side of the paper cup.Use the fasteners to hold the cardboard strip to the cup, thru the hole.Cut crepe paper into thin strips.Stuff the cup using the crepe paper. That is to cushion the egg later.Note:You can colour the cup and handle if you want but my son is too lazy to do it. He just colour the handle (cardboard strip) and left the cup as it is.Part II: THE EGGWhen we did this last year, we painted the eggs. Since my son is older and can handle glitters better we will be using that to decorate the eggs instead of painting it.Materials needed:EggGlueGlittersHow to do it:To remove eggs from shell, gentle make a hole on the top and bottom of s...

(ie, the 1st strip will now be the 7th strip, the 2nd strip will be the 6th strip and so on)Put the fastener thru the hole of the strips as you do.Fasten the fastener. You should see a half sphere shape now.Pull the most outer strip( ie, the 8th strip) up. That will be the handle. You can put your oranges in now.??????????

It will take 4 Ang Paos to do this.Repeat the above steps so you have 2 sets; 1 for bottom and 1 for the top.To do the middle part, join top right corner of (base) Ang Bao on the left with bottom right corner of a new Ang Pao. Then join top left corner of (base) Ang Pao on the right with bottom left corner of the same Ang Pao. (confusing huh? ;P)Repeat till 4 Ang Paos are secure with the base. Now stic...
