"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam
2008-04-15 20:20:00 Now I am pretty sure that many of you are aware of the 419 email scams that have been circulating the web for the past year or so, but then again some people might get really excited if they receive an email stating that they have won in some or other email lottery program. Unfortunately for those who do not already know... THIS IS A BIG SCAM. Criminals send out such emails claiming to be from a valid financial institution and even providing fake bank letters of surety containing the logo of the European Central Bank (ECB) and fake signatures of financial representatives. - These emails and letter state that you have won millions of dollars or euros but in order for the funds to be wired to your account you need to play for a Clean Source of Funds Certificate. So now I believe that it is about time I make another update to my blog since half the world seems to think that I have vanished off the face of the earth. I have just been super busy with work and all my spare time was used to further myself in my 'Second Life '. Power Cuts - Economy Suffers
2008-01-30 23:49:00 On 12 December I made a post regarding the power shortage in South Africa. Click here to read it. I believe its time for an update on that matter... Apparently the power cuts are to continue for the next 7 years (or basically until our government decides to let Eskom build more power stations). Businesses are losing millions daily due to the load shedding and there's nothing that we can do about it. According to some news stories our government was warned 10 years ago that this would happen but they did absolutely nothing about it. In a recent public statement from our president his only response was 'I'm Sorry'. Don't you just think that is absolutely pathetic?!? I mean come on, the entire country is getting power cuts from time to time, millions of businesses are suffering and all our president have to say about it is 'I'm Sorry' - Well Mr. Mbeki, maybe if your political party opened their ears 10 years ago and did something about the situation then this would not have... New credit card scam!

This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'MasterCard'. The scam works like this: Person calling says, 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank) did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for R497.99 from a Marketing company based in London?' Facebook Madness
2008-01-29 14:24:00 Last night I logged onto FaceBook for the first time in about a month, remind me to never ever wait so long to check my messages and requests again. I should have saved a screenshot, but I has about 20 friend requests, over 180 application requests and about 100 notifications. And yes, I went through these one by one. It was so tedious. I actually wish that there was a 'ignore all' button for application requests. Some of the new applications are so sneaky, they don't allow you to use the application unless you invite a minimum of 20 friends. In the past one could easily 'skip' this step to avoid irritating friends with silly application requests but now you HAVE TO invite. - So, sincere apologies to those of you who got hundreds of requests from me last night LOL. It's been a while
2008-01-28 10:49:00 Don't you just love TypePad? *grin* Even though my account got suspended due to my credit card being expired my blog was still live, I just could not update the site from the back-end admin system until I updated my new credit card details. But as it's all good now. It's been a while since I've managed to write a proper post because things have been so hectic in both my personal and corporate life. My business is doing really great again this month, which is a huge relief considering how dead and quiet it has been during the festive season. Due to the 'rush' my Second Life has been taking strain as well and I only manage to log on once or twice a week now, mostly during weekends. As a result of this I have decided to temporarily close my Second Life virtual head office as I do not have time to sit online in this virtual world all day. Second Life - The most addictive game EVER!!

This time round however I actually investigated a little further and read up on what the game was all about. so here is a quick review: Image The Sims, with the ability to play online and interact with real people, and not ever having to worry about eating or sleeping or moods. Not only that but Second Life is in fact a second life for many people. This virtual word has it's on infrastructure and economy. One can actually make money from the game if you can offer services, various companies in Second Life also offer employment. It's really addictive, and the possibilities in this virtual world are endless. Poverty: The result of a poor infrastructure.

South Africa is considered to be a 'third world' or 'developing' country due to high unemployment rates and poverty, yet not many people take in to account that the cause of all of this is in fact a poor infrastructure. Look at the United States, there are many more ways to earn a decent living over there then there are here in South Africa. For example; online trading via PayPal, eBay, etc. - Sure we have alternatives available here such as MoneyBookers and Bid-or-Buy but those still doesn't offer the full advantage of being linked in to the leaders in the industry. The government wants to bring more money into the country but why does SARS not allow this? - Because they can't track every single online transaction and therefor they cannot receive their due revenue. I've been collecting images and ideas of what I want my dream home to be like and this it the latest addition. Orange is the new pink
2007-12-12 19:42:00 Lots of people informed me that they didn't particularly like my use of color (blue, orange, white, black) So I've decided to soften and neutralize the theme a bit by removing the blue. Is the orange a bit much? I don't know... I like it! It's always difficult to design stuff for myself because I never know exactly what look I'm going for, whereas with clients they tell me exactly what they want and I create it for them no questions asked. - Why am I so indecisive when it comes to personal matters?!?! Anyway, the general layout of the blog will stay the same but the 'cosmetics' will still be changed a few times till myself and all my readers are 100% happy with the header design and use of colors. Power cuts leaving South Africa in the dark
2007-12-12 12:23:00 Time is money, and many companies are losing a great deal due to the constant load shedding that's been taking place for the past few weeks. This is absolutely pathetic and unacceptable, but what are we to do? Eskom now wants us to conserve electricity by cutting down usage and switching off any unnecessary electronics such as geysers, air conditioning systems, ovens, etc.. I'm sorry but from my perspective a relaxing hour in a hot jacuzzi after a hard days work is necessary, and do I now have to stop cooking with the oven and take quick mini showers every morning? And do I have to switch off the air conditioner and boil to death during the day? - What does Eskom want us to do? Move into a shack and live like those in poverty, maybe? Then we'll at least get FREE electricity. Why is it that we, who pay for every bit of electricity that we use have to be cut off? Why does Eskom not produce enough power?!?! 2007-12-10 14:37:00 A few days ago there was a very interesting episode of Future Cars on Discovery Channel, featuring 'The Air Car ' - A car that's fully powered by compressed air, and that can travel up to 70 miles per hour. Now wouldn't this just be THE PERFECT car to have? - Imagine never ever having to stop at the gas station to fill up, not ever paying a cent for fuel, and also saving the environment by 'cleaning the air' while you drive. Sure these cars are quite hideous - But i've enquired about having one imported for myself. The future of transportation is here!
Relaxing Weekend
2007-12-10 13:04:00 Before I start out my new week I want to give you guys a quick re-cap of the weekend's events. It was quite a relaxing weekend!! I spent Friday and Saturday night with my boyfriend and we just relaxed and hung out together for a bit. On sunday morning we decided to go fishing at 'Footloose' in Midrand as we haven't been there is quite some time and we wanted to experience a bit of the great outdoors. Sunday was a lovely day, perfect weather, and it was really relaxing to get out of the city for a while! Naturally I took my laptop with me because I always take it wherever I go (except for when i go clubbing or attend any other event that would cause damage of theft). As we got to the 'trout farm' I decided to sit down at the bar, have a few drinks and catch up on some emailing while Nick sets up the fishing rods etc.. - I got quite tipsy and after a while a whole bunch of honey bees decided to attack the bar, so I put my laptop away and went down to the dam to hang out with ...
