It seems my hubby and I will have to continue our debate for at least another decade. My side: I think it’s totally a chick flick! Why, you say? American Idol?How I?m Starting to Loathe Thee.
2007-03-11 00:36:01 I won’t bother giving my review…it was basically more of the same dreck from the week before. I like the same people: Blake (begrudingly, but he’s really one of the best), Melinda (she has such a spark and what a powerhouse voice in a tiny little package), Lakisha (not my favorite singer but I acknowledge her talent) and Stephanie. I was amazed that Sabrina Sloane is gone…I pegged her as one of the possible contenders for the crown. I’m sure it’s because they haven’t made me feel like investing my time to vote. I didn’t even watch the shows this week as they were happening. I had other things to do. That in itself is telltale. I never allowed myself to have other things to do if at all possible during the previous 3 seasons. I’m overall, unimpressed, uninspired and underwhelmed. But I can’t seem to let go. I think I’ll be using a poor sales technique I call “Show up and throw up” (where you just show up at the business and tell them everything they did or didn’t want to know about you and your company and your product/service), except I’m not tryin to sell anything to you, other than a laugh or inspiration, and they’re free! Ashlyn Update v2.0
2007-03-03 06:28:01 Well, I’ve not blogged about it yet…but…Ashlyn did in fact obliterate her ACL. She is going to have to have reconstructive knee surgery where they will take a graft off her patellar (kneecap) tendon and bone and use that to reconstruct her ACL. We scheduled the surgery, and it’s happening on April 13th. Yes, that’s Friday the 13th. I am a little apprehensive to schedule it for that day but otherwise, she’ll have to wait until the 19th. The reason for the delay is that she’ll have to have good range of motion in the knee prior to surgery otherwise her knee would be as stiff as it is today. She can barely bend it and can’t straighten it out at all. Wish her luck and a speedy recovery and hope that I can resist the urge to stuff a rabbit and all four of his feet in her hospital nightgown as she’s going into surgery. 2007-03-03 06:28:01 Ok, I think there’s some real contenders among the girls, and some really sucky girls…I mean…really, REALLY sucky. This review is late, because I’ve been busy. :/ Here’s my thoughts on their performances, followed by my thoughts about the results this week… 1) Gina Glocksen - “Alone” by Heart - Firstly, I hated her dress. She looked like a red sausage. I think she’s got some talent, but she really needs not to oversing so much IMO. I don’t foresee her winning the big prize. 2) Alaina Alexander - “Not Ready to Make Nice” by The Dixie Chicks - OMG if you’re going to sing the Dixie Chicks…well… be a better singer than that. 2007-03-03 06:28:01 The (mostly) suckfest continued this week with me wondering a lot of times if the judges were hearing the same performances I did. Here’s how I felt: 1) Phil Stacey - “Missing You” by John Waite - I actually think this guy has a great voice but it’s like he’s afraid to really sing until the last two lines of his songs. He’s got to get over this or become like Ace Young did for me last year. Starts out pretty strong, and initially thought to be a contender to being a “what could have been” in my eyes. Also, the tempo was a smidge too fast so it felt, to me, like he was sort of racing through the song. (tiggerprr side note: God help any of these boys if they start trying to do the Constantine creepy eyes at the camera thing. I liked Constantine except for that stuff, that’s just creepy…and weird!) 2) Jared Cotter - “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye - I agree with Bond’s assessment that Jared’s voi... LOL I guess I sounded mad when I said, “Are you kidding me?” I wasn’t mad, I was shocked! She looked at Ashlyn and asked if we were related, and I said, “I’m her Mom.” Her eyes got really huge and said we looked like students. LOL Yes, it’s happened before, but it amazes me every time. It’s so funny! I hope it’s that I’m youthful looking, but it only happens when I am with Ashlyn. So, it might be the company I keep, or maybe it was my Tigger sweatshirt and yoga pants? But, outside of a post that’s been brewing in my head for a few days now, I really haven’t had anything much to say. Maybe it’s Spring, maybe it’s laziness, maybe I’m just boring (LOL). OK, I’m not boring, so that can’t be it! Oh goodness, this is turning into one of those posts that Holly dislikes so much! LOL I’ve been finding myself going to sleep between midnight and 1am lately, which is incredibly early compared to what I have been doing. So that’s cutting into the time that I am usually reflecting and blogging and visiting other people. However, since I’m getting more sleep, that’s a good thing. My ISP is Trying My Patience?
2007-02-18 12:21:01 On Monday night, my ISP (Internet Service Provider), unrolled a big change to our internet service in order to “improve” our service. Tuesday Morning, my internet connection was dead, I called them, several hours later we’re up. Wednesday finds my connection broken again, I call them, they run me through the usual, power off/on all the equipment, it’s still broken intermittently and they’re going to submit a work order to the “Network Dept.” I wake today, it’s broken…again. I call them…again. They work on it…again. The Tech guy comes over and says he “thinks” he got it fixed and leaves after testing our signal strength. An hour later, just after I pressed Publish on my TT post, it’s deader than it’s been yet. I call them…again. I yell at them…again. They say they’ll have to submit a work order to Network…again, placing me at the bottom of the work order queue…agai... More About: Patience
