February 14, 2007 - Happy Valentine?s Day!
2007-02-18 12:21:01 This is a crosspost from tiggerprr’s project 365. We had a great time at The House of tiggerprr. I got lucky and scored a 745pm reservation at Yamato Steak House, which is a Japanese Teppanyaki place (think Benihanas). Ken arrived home from work just in time for us to get to the restaurant. I forgot my camera, so I didn’t get to take a picture of the restaurant. I did however, filtch one from a review site that you can see here. Our chef was funny and very entertaining, actually the best teppanyaki chef I’ve ever had and I’ve had lots! We ate and ate and ate and I still had enough left over for breakfast this morning! We got home and handed out our tokens of affection. Here’s Ashlyn with hers: And here’s what I got from the hubby: The box was so cute, it wolf whistles at you when you open it. 2007-02-18 12:21:01 Sir Richard Branson, the Virgin Atlantic boss, has offered a reward of $25 million to the scientists who find a way to help save the planet from the effects of climate change. I feel it is naive to deny that there are global changes in our weather and climates when there’s so many tangible effects that we can see if we open our eyes. I’m no environmental saint, I wish I could say I was. I remember as a first grader all those many years ago, hearing about the need for conservation and saving the planet. Being an idealistic 7 year old, I fired off a letter to then-President Ford to express my concerns that the powers that be do what they need to in order to secure our planet for my generation and those that followed. I think rascism is stupid, we’re all just people after all. But people like Pat Robertson, well, they make it just too hard for me to keep my yap shut… WTF? The Religious Right, or whatever they call themselves, needs to suspend this guy’s ability to open his cakehole. Period. People like him, regardless of religion, perpetuate the hatred that we see far too much of these days and make a mockery of the philosophies that great leaders like Christ, Buddha and Ghandi tried to tried to spread during their time on Earth. 2007-02-07 00:16:02 Ashlyn and I went to the Dr. this morning to find out that while we don’t have strep throat, thank goodness, we do have sinus infections turning into bronchitis and she needs to be out of school tomorrow as well. Yikes! Grandma Flips a Bird?
2007-02-06 06:15:01 So, we were totally out of bread, cheese and milk. My list for Sam’s and Costco (because you KNOW, neither one of them can stock EVERYTHING you want eliminating the “need” to have both memberships) was so long we were out of room on the fridge dry erase board. I felt a tiny surge of energy (ie. tired of listening to whining about the milk and cheese famine that had come to pass upon the House of tiggerprr) and went to the mall, Best Buy (our battery charger went poof), Sam’s, Costco and Walmart. Who knew it was Super Bowl Sunday? I sure didn’t, that is, until I was met with the most ginormous, most annoying snack buying crowd of … people. I’m now sicker than I was before we went shopping. But by God, we have milk, cheese and bread. And cheese dip, lovely, yummy cheese dip. But our tortilla chips are stale. Gross , because it’s unsightly and also because the workers leave their lunch trash laying around and it ends up in my yard. 2007-02-02 12:09:01 I woke up feeling like, well…crap today. I think Local Girl’s creeping crud crawled it’s way over here from Hawaii, maybe via a passenger! So imagine my delight to find out that I’ve been nominated, not once, but in two different categories: “Blogger You’d Most Like to Meet” and “Blog You’ll Never Stop Reading” at the Share the Love Blog Awards. I don’t know which ones of my too-kind friends, nominated me for these cool categories but I have suspicions and much gratitude for the warm fuzzy high I have this morning. Daddy Forever started visiting me a few months ago, and his comments never fail to make me laugh. His poor long-suffering wife could probably tell you some awesome stories about this man, but in all honesty, he does a pretty good job of that himself.
