Blogger is annoying the crap out of me. I’m trying to come see you, really I am. It’s crazy that software I don’t really “use” is getting in my way as much as it does. LOL That is all. Share This
Thursday Thirteen Edition #21/77

Thirteen Random Facts about tiggerprr 1. I don’t like most veggies. But I’ll eat ones that a lot of other people hate, ie. spinach & broccoli. 2. I won’t eat any fish or seafood. Other than literally like one tuna fish sandwich a year, then I am reminded of why I don’t eat fish. 3. I was a tomboy when I was little. I much preferred running, jumping, climbing and playing football or baseball to dolls and tea parties. I think my Dad hoped for a boy. 4. As a result of #3, I can put a mean spiral on a football. 5. I am a huge procrastinator. 6. I grew up with a mom that is paranoid schizophrenic. It’s not split personalities like most people think. 7. I spent my 30th birthday (ahem, almost 9 years ago) in Las Vegas with 3 online girlfriends I’d never met in person before. Was one of the best birthdays of my life and it really was like we’d always been “in person” friends. 8. I’m deathly afraid of heights. 9. I suffer from ...

Mom?s got Game!

Ashlyn and I went to the mall after we got back from our “fun” trip. Mostly so I could embarass her by walking around next to her in my GINORMOUS sweats. We had a snack at the food court so I went to the little chinese place while she was getting a pretzel. On my way, I made eye contact with a guy passing me, and he was all “Well, Hellooooo.” I said Hi, and quickly averted my eyes. A) I’m married and B) Even if I weren’t he wasn’t my type. So I get my stuff and meet Ashlyn at the table. She says to me, a guy was totally checking you out when you passed him. I said, “Blue coat guy?” “Yeah! That’s him!”, she replies. I told her about our little exchange, and she apparently watched it as it happened and saw him after I passed him by. He turned around and checked me out from the back. Ewwww right? It’s worse than that, remember, my clothes were like 3 sizes too big. I had no makeup on, because I hadn’t ...

2000 Bloggers

What a neat idea! This fellow is doing a photo listing of 2000 bloggers, just random folks like you or me. All you gotta do to get on this listing is have a real photo of yourself on your blog and your blog must have been created prior to January 1, 2007. I saw some familiar faces on the massive blog collage, it’s not too late to get your face on there! Click here to find out how! Big shoutout to Yoshi who told me about this. He always finds the coolest stuff. That’s probably because he actually reads things. Share This

Parking Lot Ponderings?

We’re coming out of the Walmart with our purchases, just stepping off the curb onto the pavement. This is the dialogue any interested party within earshot could hear as we were strolling to our car: Ashlyn: So, you know how when it’s cold you can see your breath? Me: (Raised eyebrow) Yessssss. Ashlyn: Do you think when Eskimos fart, they can see it? Me: (Choking.) I can NOT believe you just asked me that. Ashlyn: Well, haven’t you ever wondered that? Me: (Nervously looking around, side to side.) Um, no. Ashlyn: You know you have. Me: Um, no. You’re so weird. My pride and joy. So socially appropriate. Share This

As a kindness to those of you who’ve TiVO’d or DVR’d the premiere, I’ll close up this post with a “read more” thingy so as not to spoil you. Mind you, there’s gonna be details about previous seasons too, so if you’re planning on watching them, step away from this post. But if you clicky the link, I’m not responsible for the “Ugh!” moments you’re bound to have. ::Wizard of OZ voice:: “YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!” I saw that Roger Cross was listed only as a guest star as the opening credits rolled last night, and commented that it may not be a good sign for Agent Curtis Manning, aka Blackjack among 24 fans for the Bauer-like qualities he’s exhibited on his few short years on 24. Sure enough, in one of the saddest scenes I’ve witnessed on 24 to date my fears were realized. It was not as gut wrenching as watching Edgar or Tony die last year and frankly, I was so shocked when they killed off Presid...

I stole this from s@m, who stole it from some other nice, and apparently naughty, folks. I am apparently not as sweet and innocent as I would have myself, or you, believe and will likely be going to Hell. 2007-01-14 17:44:02
It’s a secret vice I have. I can’t help but watch week after week. Yes, we vote. It’s a huge discussion in our household. I have a little notebook, where I keep notes on that week’s performances for reference when we’re making our decision who to vote for. I don’t so much keep notes on performances as the season is winding down, at that point we’ve usually come to be on a first name basis with all of the contestants and either love them or hate them for whatever reasons. I am frustrated however, with the show’s insistence of showing us nearly a month’s worth of the “bad” auditions. It’s like fingernails on a blackboard. But like lemmings, my family and I run up to the edge of that cliff and sail right on over the side. I don’t know why. We’re all reasonably intelligent. Could it be that we’re that starved for this show that we wade through all that crap to possibly catch even a glimpse of the t...

A Thinking Meme
2007-01-13 05:42:02
Starrlight tagged me for this one. It truly does require one to think to finish. I liked it. 1.) If you had to choose one vice in exclusion of all others what would it be? Bacon Cheeseburgers. I know, sordid huh? 2.) If you could change one specific thing about the world what would it be? Our inability to co-exist peacefully with all the other inhabitants of our planet, inclusive of people, animals and nature in general. 3.) Name the cartoon character you identify with the most. Ummm, Tigger? We were both born in 1968 and get so excited we’ll bounce over ya! But we mean well. 4.) If you could live one day in your life over again which one would it be? The answer to that one would require a baring of my soul so personal that I can’t bring myself to do it as it would definitely alter my life as I know it now. 5.) If you could go back in history and spend a day with one person who would it be? Leonardo daVinci 6.) What is the one thing you lost, sold or threw away ...

ASPCA: Mission Orange
2007-01-11 17:41:01
Our good friend, Skeezix the Cat, advised us all on his blog that today is ASPCA Miss ion: Orange Day. As we enter our 141st year, the ASPCA is proud to partner with target animal welfare and community organizations around the country to launch ?ASPCAź Mission : Orange???a focused effort to create a country of humane communities, one community at a time, where animals receive the compassion and respect due to them as sentient beings, and where there is no more unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable animals simply because of a lack of resources or awareness. - from the ASPCA Website My bloggy friends who visit here more than once probably know how important the furry members of my family are to me. I’d love to see a world where no cat or dog is homeless, hungry or afraid and I admire what the ASPCA is hoping to accomplish. Change is always possible, one step at a time.

2007-01-04 23:32:01
Local Girl, my wonderful friend at An Island Life nominated me for December’s Perfect Post Award. She found my “A Blog about Nothing - Blogger Identity Crisis” post to be worthy of mentioning and it’s featured alongside some very good company at Petroville and Suburban Turmoil. How cool that my post questioning the meaningfulness, or lack thereof, of my own blogger identity is the one that caught her eye. That’s practically dripping with the irony I love so much. Thank you Local Girl, you just rock! I’m so glad we’re friends. Maybe I won’t turn OC into a catskin rug after all. At least, not today.

Calgon?Don?t Just Take Me Away?Drown Me Instead? Please?
2007-01-03 23:30:01
Do you ever have one of those days…where you wake up, and for some inexplicable reason, you have just one nerve left. And on that day, it seems like a worldwide memo goes out to everyone, including your cats, instructing them to jump on said nerve? Today is that day for me…a few of the antagonists: 1) OC - I love my cat, more than I love most people. But today, he insists on chewing on every piece of cardboard or box he can find, and running away under the tree when I hop up to squirt him with a waterbottle. He keeps going, he might find himself in the form of a very small catskin rug. Grrr. 2) My daughter - I could go on and on, but it’ll just make me madder. I think one word will sum it up, nicely. Teenager. 3) Every freaking motorist in Myrtle Beach, SC. I give you the one finger salute! I have driven in Houston (along what has been for the last few years, the worst stretch of traffic jam inducing road in the country), I have driven in Chicago and I have driven ...

Breaking Movie News!
2007-01-03 23:30:01
Ha ha! Made you look! But that’s important because this IS big news…to me. Apparently, Val Kilmer reportedly set to sign on to make a sequel to the 1980’s classic, Real Genius. This could be really, really good, or conversely, really, really bad. But ever the optimist, I am hopeful that they don’t stomp all over what I consider to be one of the best movies of the 80s. I loved Val Kilmer in the role of Chris Knight. At the time Real Genius came out, I was attending the University of Central Arkansas’ Honors College. While we didn’t have a really killer science lab, complete with lasers, or evil professors, I could certainly relate to all those high IQs being together in one place in time. Though we didn’t create ice slides down any hallways, we sure had lots of fun and lots of great discussions. I miss all my friends from that time in my life, I wonder if any of them are living in tunnels under the University. Hehe

Project 365 - It?s Not Just for Aliens Anymore!
2007-01-03 23:30:01
Doesn’t that name sounds like an Alien or Secret Government Agency name for something REALLY ominous? I digress. With the new year upon us, I’m embarking on phase II of my integration into the blogosphere: photoblogging. I’ve been waiting for January 1 to start this little project. I hope you find some stuff of interest throughout the year. I am in no hurry for this year to be over with already, but I am looking forward to next December 31st and looking at the year gone by, one photo at a time. If you’re interested in starting your own Project 365, go out and buy a satellite map of the Earth and some red pushpins to Photojojo! for details on how to do it. As soon as I can figure out how to make a button for the top menu bar, I’ll put one up there.

Didn?t Get Enough of NYC Last Night?

Never fear! Otilius is here! Well, his blog, New York Nitty-Gritty, is anyway. He’ll be here until tomorrow night and for some spectacular views of NYC, click the thumbnail to the right! People have been guest posting with commentary about the pictures that move them the most. I was struck by the picture of Lady Liberty and it made me remember how amazed I was when I saw her during my visit in 1999. I always figured she’d be really tall and huge, but she’s not. At least physically, she’s tall in other ways. New York has a character of it’s own, and at the very least, you have to appreciate all the architecture of the buildings there. Go check it out for yourself!

5 (More) Things You May Not Know About Me
2007-01-03 23:30:01
Mary over at Almost Somewhat Positive tagged me for this one…I did it last week, but I’ll give you 5 more little things about me, because I like to do as I’m told! Hehe 1) I (along with hubby) am a big movie buff, our DVD collection just passed the 500 DVD mark. 2) I am especially fond of Martial Arts and Godzilla movies. 3) I really, REALLY, hate Forest Gump. I think it was ridiculously overrated and did not cry. The hubby and daughter ALWAYS make me watch this thing if it’s on, and will even sometimes throw the DVD in at random just to hear me whine. 4) I have memories going back to being in the crib and can remember how chewing on teething toys felt. 5) Once I’ve decided something has a home in a certain spot, it drives me nuts for it to be out of place. This is how I know my family is trying to drive me insane. They’re always moving stuff! Since it’s New Year’s Eve, I won’t tag anyone! But if you haven’t done this one a...

Bye, Bye 2006! Helllllooooo 2007!
2007-01-03 23:30:01
It’s hard to believe that exactly 1 year ago today, my family was enjoying a fun filled day at Epcot among what seemed like a million other people. Doing the Robot: So much has happened this year, and it went by so fast. I see the speed at which time is seeming to accelerate as a sign of my aging. When you’re really young, you never believe people that tell you that the older you get, the faster it goes. But my how it does. Those of you who’ve come to know me this year, know that we’ve moved from the Midwest (Illinois) to the Southeast (Myrtle Beach). We’d known about the possibiliy of this move for quite some time, but the plans took nearly a year to nail down. So we spent most of 2006 in a rented duplex that was about 2000 sqft smaller than the house we were in previously. OUCH! We took two trips out to Myrtle Beach to search for a home, and we nearly had heart attacks to find out that the houses here roughly cost $100K more than the same house wou...

What Should Chey Do 2007?
2007-01-03 23:30:01
Chey is holding a contest to compile her list of New Year’s Resolutions for 2007. She’s offering some very cool prizes, most importantly, sponsorship of homeless kitties staying at the Best Friends Sanctuary. After extensive consultations with my Feline Political Action Committee, we’ve determined the following Resolutions are appropriate for anycat considering a run for office: 1) Lay off the ‘Nip until after the election. Nothing can derail a promising candidacy like a drug-fueled indiscretion. If you must be around it, take a cue from previous presidents, DON’T INHALE (or at least, pretend not to)! 2) While laying off the ‘Nip can be difficult, it’s also important to resolve to stop catting around with every tomcat you see. A sex scandal can have equally destructive consequences. If you must have a dalliance (what cat doesn’t long for a little “grooming” on a long, lonely night?) make sure the Woman doesn’t have...
