More Ramiele Malubay Trivia
2008-03-15 06:00:00
*Photo from AmericanIdol.com*I read this from a fashion mag today about Ramiele Malubay, the Filipino-Ameican girl who made it to the now top 10 on American Idol. (Yayyy! She's still in as of this writing). I thought I would share it on my blog.* Ramiele was raised by her own parents in three countries: Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and the U.S. (Florida).* Her mom's name is Alice and on a recent interview, mom Alice said "Ramiele always wanted to hold a microphone".* Her dad's name is Roger and was quoted on saying, "We Filipinos love karaoke. Ramiele used to love to sing "La Bamba". Hope you enjoyed a little celebrity/American Idol trivia. Have a great weekend, blogging friends! :)

Diamonds in Oysters?
2008-03-14 21:16:00
What kind of girl wouldn't like diamonds? :)I know I love diamonds. I own a few, but wish I have more. Well, what if one day I find an oyster and open it to find instead of a pearl, a big sparkling diamond! Wow, only in my dreams I guess, LOL. Don't get me wrong, I like pearls too but I will choose diamonds over pearls anytime. So here's this website called BeOysterAware.com. Here's a short description of what the site is all about:Millions of people LOVE to eat oysters. Whether you eat them in moderation or by the dozen, these delightful mollusks provide a low calorie protein(1) that are an excellent source of zinc, vitamin B-12, and omega-3 fatty acids.(2)While not a serious threat to healthy individuals, consumption of raw or undercooked oysters by at-risk individuals may cause serious illness or even death from Vibrio vulnificus bacteria. If you have liver disease, diabetes or a weak immune system, you should avoid raw oysters.Without question, there is an overwhelming need ...

Got Me A Good New Read!
2008-03-14 21:06:00
So last night I was able to venture out to the bookstore and had a little 'me' time. I needed (believe it or not) coffee at Starbucks and I've been dying to get a hold of a new read (novel). So anyways, here is what I got and today in the midst of all the chores, I was able to start reading the first chapter. Whew! this actually was an accomplishment on my part. I used to read novels a lot when I was single. But since mommyhood has overtaken my life, it has been a challenge to go back into reading. Hopefully this will be a good start again for me. :)Anyways, I've heard of so many good things about this New York Times best-selling author Sue Monk Kidd. Looks like I'm going to love this new novel: The Mermaid Chair. Here's a short description of this novel from the author's website:The Mermaid ChairInside the abbey of a Benedictine monastery on Egret Island, just off the coast of South Carolina, resides a beautiful and mysterious chair ornately carved with mermaids and dedicated...

Beer, Anyone? :)
2008-03-13 07:32:00
So I was asked, when was the last time I had light beer? I could say, I had another one yesterday when we went out for lunch. My husband and I went to a Mexican restaurant and I tried this Mexican type beer which I cannot remember the name. Actually my husband got it for himself and we just kinda shared it. I wasn't really in the mood for a beer then. Funny I can remember when I was pregnant with my last baby, I was actually craving for my favorite light beer--Coors Light. LOL. I don't know if there's such a thing as a pregnant woman wishing so much that she wasn't pregnant while she was just because she wanted to have beer. At that time, I was that pregnant woman! :) Yeah, I know it sounded a little petty and selfish but you know what, no matter how much I craved for it at that time I never gave in. I'm the stickler type- "had to have my daily preggy vitamins, or else the baby won't come out healthy" sort of mentality. But my husabnd used to comment how I did not ever gave up...

Nice Day Tuesday
2008-03-11 23:42:00
Today was a nice family day sort of. This morning I got to go to the park with my hubby and kiddos. Hubby was off work today due to an appointment earlier this morning. After playing at the park, we went to get some hot good lunch at a Mexican Grill close by our house. It was a good meal. I had grilled chicken and sopapillas (yum!) for dessert. I love it! :)When we came back to the house after lunch we noticed the lawn need some TLC- the weeds in the front lawn look ugly. But then we decided it's better we give it over to the professional lawn mowers who do our lawn in the summer. We thought they'd do a better job than us. LOL. Overall, today was a real nice day. I got to write a nice review on Hip Mama's Place, got to write here a bit then still was able to spend nice, quality time with my family. :)

My Friend In Ireland
2008-03-11 15:43:00
I have a friend who works as a nurse in Ireland . She's been there almost two years now. She loves Ireland! The weather, the food, the people. The only thing she has a little trouble with she told me, is the Irish accent and understanding how people talk sometimes. But she likes the fact that things are quite affordable and the people dress casually. She's looking into getting low interest rate credit cards while working there. She told me that the application process for credit cards in Ireland is basically the same as in the U.S. She told me she uses credit cards basically for shopping because she doesn't like using cash or her debit card whenever she shops.

Winning a Nintendo Wii
2008-03-07 00:53:00
When my family visited relatives in Los Angeles, California last year, we were surprised at how my sister in-law's kids were into video games and Nintendo s. Even the adults are into it and have been talking a lot about it. My husband and I have never really gotten into this type of recreation so of course we couldn't relate to the conversations. Him and I are more into the music, movies, a bit of politics, and checking out places to eat- are what we're mostly into, LOL. I know some of our adult friends have gotten into video games too and they all seem to enjoy it. I know my girlfriend just told me her teenage sons want to own a Nintendo Wii too. They had the older version of Nintendo game console but they want the latest model. They are into games such as the Dance Dance Revolution, among other cool, fun games. If you want to try your luck on winning one of these cool Nintendo game consoles, check out the Charter Sweeps. Today...
2008-03-06 22:08:00
Wow, I thought the snow was gone. But today it actually snowed more than it did the other night. It looks cool. Actually something about the snow that lifts my spirits up. I think it's the pure whiteness, or how the snow flakes gently fall on the ground. It's so serene. Hmmm, now I'm being poetic. :)Anyways, today I'm just being lazy. I couldn't go out this morning for our morning walks of course. But it's okay. There's always tomorrow. How about you? How is your Thursday going?

Beautiful Weather Today...
2008-03-05 20:14:00
So this morning, I went out for a walk to the neighborhood park with my kiddos in their double strollers. It was cool and a little breezy, but warm enough to take a stroll down four blocks and back to the house. My toddler really enjoyed playing with the other kids while we were in the park. They threw balls, did slides and ran a lot. He was tired when we got home. My one year old enjoyed watching his big brother and other kids the whole time. He was excited and babbled and laughed a lot.I was just happy to get out of the house and take a breath of fresh air. I think I've been a little couped up lately. But today was wonderful and I am aiming to do my morning walks with my kids again regularly--help with the bulging tummy too! LOL.

Do You Drink Light Beer?
2008-03-05 15:34:00
I do. The last time I had my light beer was when my husband and my kids were in West Palm Beach, Florida a couple weeks ago. We went to have lunch at our favorite Cuban restaurant there and had this big, yummy Cuban meal. My husband and I wanted to treat ourselves a bit so we each had light beer with our lunch. My favorite choice of light beer is Coors Light . I like it because it's true to its name "light". It is very light and has a pretty mild taste. I remember the first time I tried Coors light beer. I was a little hesitant at first when my husband told me to try it. But the easygoing person that I am, I went ahead and tried it and since then it has been my beer of choice- Coors Light. So anyways, there's this fun mobile survey about yor favorite light beer that we can all check out. The contest requirements go like this: Everyone who answers all 10 questions will be entered for a chance to win a $300 Amazon gift card. The survey is being presented to a small number of particip...

Snow In Texas!
2008-03-04 16:58:00
In Texas , we don't get a lot of snow in the winter. So last evening, my husband and I were so excited when it snowed. So we took our toddler out to play and make snow balls with him and took some pictures. It was funny that our toddler was excited and yet a little scared when daddy threw small snowballs at him. He was running towards the house acting silly like he's scared. He was touching the snow balls with a puzzled look on his face and yet he had this big, fascinated smile. We also lighted up the fireplace and we enjoyed the warmth it brought to the house. Anyways, I'm posting a few pictures here from last night and and some I took in front of our house and the back of our yard this morning. I love snow! :)

No Wonder Why...
2008-03-03 22:33:00
...businesses are paying these paid blogging companies like PayPerPost, Review Me, etc. to have bloggers like us blog about their products. Here's a recent "Beauty Flash" article from Self magazine that I just read. I thought I'd share it since this all applies to us, bloggers. Title: Wired WisdomSixty-seven percent of women are more likely to buy a product if they read a positive comment about it on a blog, a message board, or an online social network, a study by the Benchmarking Company, a consumer research firm in Washington D.C., reports. Hmm, no wonder why... businesses need bloggers like us. :)

Easter's Almost Here
2008-03-01 04:24:00
Wow, it seems like it wasn't that long since we celebrated Easter. Now I'm thinking what we can do to make it fun.Hmm, I'm thinking maybe get a little something for my husband and kids. I will probably buy online so I can make use of coupon codes. I think for my husband, I will get him a new pair of black leather shoes for work. So for that, I will be using Shoes.com coupon. For my kids, I will most likely get them a few toys. I don't know what kind yet, but most likely it will be at KB Toys, so of course I will be using KB Toys coupons as well.
I Love Crystal Jewelry
2008-02-29 16:16:00
I love sparkly crystal jewelry. So on my wedding day back in November 2003, I had on a complete set of earrings, necklace, bracelet and crown--all in sparkly crystals! I'm usually minimilastic when it comes to wearing jewelry, but on my wedding day I splurged on crystal jewelry! (LOL). Every now and then I get my cravings on these types of jewelry. Here's a wonderful online store that sells 100% authentic crystal jewelry in every type and color called Crystal crib.com. Colorful unique crystal jewelry from Asia are just a few of their specialty jewelry designs. They have about all the crystal types you can think of, from Agate to Turquoise (which is one of my birthstones!)-- they got it all. If you are looking for unique crystal pieces like necklaces, braceletes, earrings, anklets and more, you should check out this site. And hey, they even have crystal pieces for the home. I'm loving the Amethyst Geode with wooden stand featured there, for like $43.00..hmm, very affordable compare...

Our Trip To West Palm Beach, Florida
2008-02-29 00:39:00
So Saturday afternoon, my hubby, two little boys and I headed for West Palm Beach , Florida on a rented big van. The whole trip was enjoyable, although my boys had their 'cranky' moments. Overall though they were both good travellers. So anyway, the funeral service for my father in-law wasn't until Tuesday morning, so when we arrived Sunday night we planned the next day Monday to be just an easy day- fit for sightseeing and 'hanging out have a little picnic at the beach' day, and visiting old familiar places. West Palm Beach is only about 45 minutes drive to where we used to live in Pembroke Pines/Miramar area before we moved to Dallas. We opted to go to Hollywood beach, where we are familiar. My boys had such a wonderful time while at the beach, especially Gabriel (our toddler) who never want to stop digging the sand with his little plastic pail and shovel his dad bought him at the dollar store..just soooo cute watching him so occupied with his digging (pictured here), LOL. Home Improvement Ideas
2008-02-29 00:28:00
Whenever my home improvement creativity strikes, I go online for home improvement ideas. One online site I like going to for Home Improvement advice and inspiration is LuxuryHousingTrends.com.There was a post there about stainless steel appliances that caught my attention recently. The writer stated that stainless steel are most popular in commercial places because they are durable and easy to clean. Stainless stell appliances also very stylish and modern, and yet some people consider the look of it being 'too cold for a home'. That article actually made me having second thoughts on buying stainless steel appliances for my home.

Tackling the Laundry and other Chores
2008-02-29 00:03:00
Today is just going to be an easy day. I'm taking it easy. Whenever we come back from a trip I always feel the need to clean up the house. I'm doing that today but just slowly and surely. I told my husband he do the same. He's staying home today to rest. We both have a little headache from sleeplessness, but we're okay. The laundry room is screaming for attention right now, but....hmm, it can wait. :)

Naked Naturals Hair Care Line
2008-02-28 12:32:00
I have straight, thick hair and I think it's one of my best physical assets. I never had any problem with thinning or brittle hair until I started having them colored at the salon so much for the past six years. My problem wasn't about thinning hair but more so about brittle, loose hair especially after I shampoo and rinse my hair in the shower. So I signed up to try this hair care product line called naked naturals because I read about how effective they are about making one's hair stronger. Soon as I received the natural shampoo and conditioner samples in the mail I started using them. Wow, with only a few applications, I noticed a significant difference in my hair's strength. My hair is healthier and shines more naturally. They're no longer brittle and the products actually minimized my problem of losing a lot of hair while in the shower. In my opinion, I think the main reason why Naked Naturals products are effective is because they have natural ingredients. They contain no ...

Whew, it was a long trip but it was memorable...saw a lot of my husband's family, cousins, and friends. We also got to do a little sightseeing and a day at the beach in Hollywood Beach (Florida). Also got a little story to tell you about Ramiele Malubay (the Filipino-American girl from American Idol this season) during one of our encounters about her while we were in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I'll talk about it more in my next entry.
