daydream mode
2008-02-14 14:41:00
. My mind was on daydream mode this afternoon as I had some extra time to kill. My chores were done, comments on my website have been attended to and Entrecards have been dropped, and errands from mom had been accomplished as well. As I flipped through some lifestyle magazines in the living room, my mind?s usual craving for scenes and pictures to fill my luxury fantasy kicked in. Oops, daydream mode has just shifted gear, I thought. Finding nothing in the magazines after a few minutes, I turned to the internet and immediately stumbled upon a furniture website. This is it, I told myself. ... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

project: h.e.l.p. basilan
2008-02-06 08:35:00
. I stumbled upon this at Pinoy Ambisyoso. My good friend Ambo is presently supporting this cause and has asked his readers to support it as well. ?Of course, count me in,? was my immediate reply. If I had the time to support self-serving tags and memes, why can?t I have time for a noble project that is raising awareness on the plight of Basilan and its people? Basilan is a southern Philippine island province in the Mindanao region. Covered with lush jungle surrounded by rich fishing grounds, it is home to Muslims, as well as some Christians, engaged in either farming or fishing for... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

red alert!
2008-02-05 10:14:00
. I was going to post about a recent church mishap (again!) but decided against it at the last minute. Maybe later. For now let me tell you about the red alert sweeping the country again. No, it?s not another military coup, nor a takeover of another luxury hotel by some disgruntled but misguided individuals. It?s not even related to the country?s latest political headliner, the ouster of congress? long-serving (and self-serving) speaker. The red alert I?m talking about is Valentine?s Day, more than a week away but making everybody?s hearts and wallets tremble with anticipation! Hotels... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

2008-02-05 09:32:00
. Yes, you read it right. Despite what I had been saying (and writing) before, I finally made up my mind and signed up with the biggest online moneymaking venture of my young blogging career. When I started blogging more than ten months ago, my only objective was to write, to tell my story the way I know how. I had been reading numerous blogs, mostly personal journals of other people, and these inspired me to follow suit. However, the skeptic in me almost stopped this new endeavor right at the starting blocks. What if it does not work out, what if nobody wants to read what I want to... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

cris anthony mendez: do you remember him?
2008-02-03 19:08:00
. What ever happened to the case of Cris Anthony Mendez? I was browsing through my old posts this afternoon when I read the entry I wrote about Cris Mendez. If you?re asking yourself who he is, you?re either one of two things: you haven?t heard of him and his unfortunate death or you have forgotten like many Filipinos. I?d rather that you belong to the former than the latter group. Cris Anthony Mendez, to refresh your minds, was a University of the Philippines (UP) Public Administration graduating scholar who made the unfortunate decision to join a fraternity. Little did he know that... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...
the 1st entrecard meme known to bloggers
2008-02-03 15:15:00
. I've been tagged again but this time it came from Meeya. It's a simple tag to promote Entrecard and encourage visits and links to fellow Entrecard memebers. If you're not a memeber yet and are wondering what the hell I'm talking about, listen to this. Entrecard, as the name suggests, is a social network where members can exchange ads at each other's site. Established late last year, it is fast gaining popularity from bloggers because they can advertise their sites for free, practically. You pay each other "entre credits" which one can earn by visiting other member sites and dropping... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

tagged again!
2008-01-26 08:33:00
. This is another meme to help us promote our blogs, hopefully increase our traffic and meet other interesting bloggers, plus increase our Technorati authority. This tag came from Liza, and I would like to pass this to JoanJoyce, Ambo, Manilenya, Cheh, Don Pepot and Kat. Good luck guys! (And don't forget to add the links.) *Start Copy Here* You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy Here* Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add. Tag or don?t tag, your choice, however,... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

the king is dead, long live the king !?
2008-01-25 18:35:00
. The crowd slowly rose to its feet, almost in disbelief, before applauding Novak Djokovic, then gave Roger Federer a standing ovation as he quickly left the court. It was an unusual scene and everybody was understandably surprised. Never before in the previous ten grand slam tournaments has Roger Federer lost before the finals. In fact. He has won almost all of them, except for the two French Opens, which were won by Nadal. But he reached the finals nonetheless. This was definitely unexpected, almost surreal, especially to Federer fans. I was afraid this would happen, that Roger would... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

beating inefficiency
2008-01-24 09:16:00
. I was re-reading the previous post today when a similar breakdown several months ago came back to mind. No. it wasn?t the broadband. It wasn?t the computer either. At the height of the summer heat, two of life?s modern conveniences, machines invented to help us bear the climatic extremes, broke down. An air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms puffed its last breath of cool air in the middle of the night causing the bedroom?s handsome occupant (that?s me of course) to wake up in slick sweat hours later. The next day, it was the freezer?s turn to kick the bucket. Both cases were... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

the good, the bad and the ugly
2008-01-15 16:29:00
. Tomorrow is the big day and I?m all set. It?s another season of the good, the bad and the ugly. No, it?s not the old cowboy movie with the same title I am talking about, nor a remake. It?s actually a television drama, comedy and musical all rolled into one. It?s the new season of American Idol! Our favorite guilty pleasure is back for a seventh season and the singing competition starts with the best part: auditions -- good, bad and very bad. The two-night, four-hour season premiere will, as always, be hosted by Ryan Seacrest, and the judging panel of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

according to melanie
2008-01-14 18:04:00
. Do you remember Melanie Marquez and her famous (infamous?) quotable quotes? She used to hug the limelight in pinoy showbiz with every opportunity and would gladly give interviews to anyone who dared, dishing out melanisms. What are melanisms, you may ask. For the uninitiated, these are grammatical misadventures of the former Miss International, ranging from common phrases and expressions to complete sentences, that would either give its listener (or reader) a terrible bellyache from laughter , or a severe migraine. Someone must have tediously written them down because I found the... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

rediscovering an old favorite
2008-01-13 14:19:00
. I was planning to do some writing for this blog when I woke up but my brain seemed to be on an extended slumber. Though I already had a subject in mind, together with an outline and a few notes hovering inside my head, I still could not put it together. Does this happen to you sometimes? I swear I had enough sleep, or was it too much? I later gave up after a few minutes of staring blankly on the monitor and settled for TV time. I?ll spend the rest of the afternoon watching sports, I thought. Wrong! 2007-12-29 14:10:00
. Do you remember this? I had this Michael Jackson album many, many years ago. It was a topseller in those days and having one to show off to friends and classmates was cool. I remember pestering my dad to buy it for me the day I saw it in a record store somewhere. I begged and pleaded to no avail. ?It?s too expensive,? he said. But I didn?t give up that easily. I went back to the record store two days later and bought one, with money from mom. he he. I have lost that Michael Jackson album. 2007-12-28 10:52:00
. It was a different affair that we went to last night, quite uncommon during the holiday season. Though it was likewise filled with laughter, food, lively chitchat and music, we were there to remember something more somber. It was the 40th day of prayers for my departed uncle who passed away more than a month ago. We Filipinos commemorate our dear departed in several ways, starting with a nine-day novena (prayer devotion) right after death, a mass and prayers marking the 40th day and lastly, the babang luksa, a celebration on the first anniversary marking the official end of the grieving... continue reading this, and much more, at keyboard monologues...

My first reaction was doubt, thinking it was a hoax. The skeptic in me kicked in again. He he. What if it?s just a ploy to visit his site? Hmmm. christmas party favorites

. It?s the last weekend before Christmas and everybody is busy. Malls and bargain centers are jam-packed with last-minute shoppers. I tried going to Greenhills (Manila?s most extensive bargain depot) two days ago but had to turn back after being stuck in traffic for almost an hour halfway to my destination. Whew! Aside from the shopping, this weekend is definitely the time for Christmas parties. My nieces had theirs yesterday, the last day of school. . I have heard and read so much about Charice Pempengco and her vocal prowess all over the internet (especially from Filipino blogs and forums) but I had not seen her perform a whole song. Sure, I saw her much talked about youtube exposure but that is just a snippet. I also failed to catch her in her first nationwide exposure via a local talent search where she finished runner-up to another young singer.
