European Southern Observatory has big plans. Their new observatory will be one of the most awesome instruments built on Earth. European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT) is going to see the first light on 2017. E-ELT is one of the biggest telescopes to be built with its diameter of 42 meters. ESO started planning a gigantic OWL-telescope (Overwhelmingly Large Telescope) which was 100 meters in diameter, but realized that the project would not initiate during the next ten years.
