Disappeared?!
2008-05-29 14:13:00
Yes I've disappeared from the blogging scene for quite sometime and I so miss the emptying out of all my emotions on the blog. I wish to write of so many things, though, I'm stuck with running from home to my job and back and cooking and making very important "couple" time. Today I have some time to write and so many words and a few minutes at the max.   I think I have another job on my hand now.... got to go finish some files.   And when I go home I want to write a post about -   Job Related Partiality (or is it something else?) Driving in Ecstasy.   I also want to write about how sometimes we have so much to say and then the heart won't just let us... I want to write about my experience as a Human Resource Consultant and then a little note about this funny man called "Cheeky Chandu" on 101.6 City FM....   Wish I would be at home, all curled up comfortably and with a laptop in the place it should be - My LAP. &...

Regarding the Taxi Complaint
2008-03-22 14:35:00
Guess who woke me up this morning? The RTA office!!!My first thought was that somehow they knew what I was writing on the blog and then they traced it to me and they'd give me advice on how to avoid topics like RTA and transport..Though, a pleasant voiced person at the other end of the line told me this was regarding the e-complain. Aha! He said that they had found the cabbie and fined him AED 300 for rejecting a passenger. You may think I was happy but I was not. It certainly doesn't give me pleasure to hear that the poor guy lost a days earnings and probably his commission as well. These guys just don't get the point.I know that the cabbie's have to think about making the most money in the span of 24 hours in order to reach their target, in their complicated target system. They're right on their path, because their life is so difficult. The whole point of numerous complaints by all residents and citizens in UAE should be taken by the RTA. The answer to this problem is erradicati...

Life ? even on the road ? is precious | Traffic.
2008-03-11 06:38:00
This is with reference to the article in the gulf news on the 9th of March 2008 ? in the ?Letters? section. It talks about how precious life is. Well, I agree. Nothing could be more precious than life ? even when we are talking of life on the roads of UAE, where fatal and semi ? fatal accidents are more popular than a road fine. What I wish to address is that very few people actually realize the seriousness of the accident, when it occurs. More often than not, when an accident occurs, the entire road is jammed and service roads are also clogged to their necks. Do you know why?Its because most people would wait to see the spectacle: the shattered glass on the road, the cops flashing their jeep lights in the emergency, the crowd of people involved in the accident, the destroyed left-overs of the car, the blood of the person, his left-overs, bits of his/her clothes lying about?I guess it gives people something to talk about to the others they come in contact with? My whole point is that...

Indian License Finally Attested!
2008-03-05 11:01:00
I got my driving license attested on the 3rd of March 2008. My hubby dropped me to Bur Juman. I pulled out some money from NBD ATM, just to be safe. From there I walked it up to the Consulate of India. Passing by Hakim?s Aalim, I realized I was having a really bad hair day. Anyway, its not about my hair. I reached the Consulate after scanning the various flags hoisted proudly.I won?t bad mouth the process but luckily, my husband had typed and filled out all the forms for me so all I had to do was just go and submit them. That took around 50 minutes of standing in a queue. I submitted my docs when it was my turn and paid the cashier.Next I had to wait for over an hour to retrieve my proof of attestation. I was getting so crazy. My husband, at the end of the phone line, said to me, ?Don?t worry baby, just wait, the processes are as slow as the processes in India.?This short sentence is bitchier than a person cribbing for two hours. So guess I don?t have to say anything else.Anyways, a...

The Giving End
2008-01-29 20:24:00
Though I'm quite an optimist and a permanently happy person, sometimes I feel really sad about the way things are with me. It really bothers me that I'm always on the giving end in every way.I believe that this life I will live only once and I truly feel that sometimes people we love just go away from our lives by way of divorce, marriage, professional growth, love and of course death. And no occurance gives us a clue before its approach. So the only way not to waste the precious little time we have in life is by not taking others for granted. Which means making those we love and come to love feel special and wanted and giving them our two hundred percent. This is something I know I have given to my parents, my grand parents, my brothers, my husband, my in laws, my aunts and uncles and cousins, my friends... I know that there may be complains because some of my folks may not feel I gave them my all. So I apologize.I know that in love and life the key to being happy is living withou...

Traffic Going to Dubai From Nahda.
2008-01-10 13:12:00
Once again, these pictures are a few months old. But nothing has changed. Infact, it has worsened. Now people don't mind driving so close to each other, fighting for space, that they might even kiss bumper to bonnet. I've made a collage: In such traffic, car lift people prefer to start their daily rounds at 5:45 in the morning. Which means I would have to leave home at 6:15 a.m. roughly and reach my work place at 6:30 a.m.And wait outside my office until 9:00 a.m.Can you see the car confusion???Its an everyday thing in UAE. See how people are so f**ked up about the transportation? Can you imagine the emotions of the people in these cars, buses?Bad road planning. Ok so the roads are badly planned. What can they do? Nothing. What they can do is make bus routes inter-emirates i.e Sharjah, Ajman, RAK, UAQ, Dubai , Abu Dhabi, Fujairah. They spend money like freaks here. So why not spend some on the Transportation system. Why don't the Sheikhs of all the Emirates make some agreement abo...

Making Time is the Point of it All.
2008-01-10 11:34:00
In my busy life, sometimes I don't have anyone to talk to for days on end. And I realize, that Iqbal doesn't either. Its when I remember my mother the most. Its when I remember how she saw my face and just knew what was going on. I'd look at her eyes and know what was in her mind. It was just lots of love. Prioritising each other. Not Telepathy. We'd talk even at 4:00 a.m. We'd just make time to speak with each other. The same goes for my brother. And after I married, for Iqbal.I don't know whats happened now. It wasn't like this before - with us. Now we talk sometimes. (There ain't any problems with us!!) Its just that we're both running a marathon of a busy life. So sometimes he's sleepy and I'm finishing up some work. Or I'm sleeping and he's off to somewhere. Before, we really made time to be together, even for a quarter of an hour. And just talk.I guess its not just me who's complaining. There are lots of us in this world. Even Iqbal.Making time for the things we c...

Life's Lessons - Breaking a Heart.
2008-01-10 10:32:00
It is one of the lessons I've learned out of personal experience that it takes a hundred thousand conversations to help a person realize that you love him, you care for him, you'll be the balm need when he hurts, you'll always stand by him, you'll always hold his hand and pick him up when they fall...It'll takes so much of heart in a conversation to guide someones aching soul... telling him that everything will be alright in the end, that he should believe in himself because he is a great special person worth everything precious in life, that there is nothing wrong with him - it is just consequences. The dark clouds will pass and you'll be there for him all the while, that Time is a healer and it will unfold all its secrets day after day, youm wara youm... Good days will come...It takes one act or sentence uttered in mindless, thoughtless anger to destroy every belief you have given someone so as to keep him smiling and alive and living happily. It takes just one reckless con...

Baby Brother
2008-01-08 20:03:00
When my brother was a baby, he was the cutest and the sweetest. He was a doll and the apple of everyone's eyes. Everybody loved him and I did too, just that I beat him more. Not like I enjoyed it. Just that he was a boy who attracted my fists with his crazy acts. He loved to hide my things. He enjoyed seeing me get mad at him. He enjoyed laughing in my crazy-with-a-temper face and charge at him like a bull who's just seen red.Anyway, after all the beating was over and I'd see how much he was crying, I'd always feel guilty and sorry for my actions. I still do. If I was a older to him by 5 years or so, I'd waive of his pranks, rather I'd have enjoyed them. Now at 25, I just look back at those days and wish and wish that I have a son as crazy, mischievious and loving as my brother. I hope I do.As a kid, I'd have very vivid dreams of someone hurting my brother and I'd wake up to find him sleeping soundly in the bed beside me. I'd put a finger near his nostrils, so he wouldn't b...

Opinion: Islam Online?
2008-01-04 10:22:00
This site claims to give accurate knowledge of Islam , Shariat. It gives accurate knowledge to those people who seek the truth of verses, surahs, ayats in the hadith.. etcYet, they have showcased a poem called How to Behead on their website. Proudly. They even go all the way to ask the reader after the reader has read the poem if - Reading the poem above, what do you feel? Do you feel instigated to commit an act of terror, or do you feel disgusted?Follow the link and it'll take you to the gory poem.My Opinion :Islam is already under a critical eye. What is the editor of Islam Online thinking when he passes the content to be shown on the website? This is not the work of a true Muslim. And 85% of the Muslims are suffering due to the acts of 15% of the anti social element Muslims who think giving any country or person a blood bath is Jihad. I wonder if most muslims feel safer and think it more logical to accept that they are Muslim when they move out into the world or feel its much wise...

Dilema
2007-11-26 09:46:00
There are several things going through my head. I feel like I'm standing in the middle of the road and there are many cars coming towards me. And I don't know which one will hit me and if my life ever will remain the same again - after the hit. I cannot even say what I'm feeling. It is something I have to keep within. I can't share it with my husband or anyone. No one will understand. What I say

Pune Airport: Conclusively
2007-11-23 12:01:00
Pune Airport : After having read about the Toilet Disaster, need I say anything more? It was quite embarrassing to write about in the first place. You can all imagine what it must be like. I bet a few passengers may have also had the same or similar experience. What I'd like to say freely is that the Pune Airport is no airport. It is a place where flights land and take off and passengers

Toilet Disaster at Pune Airport
2007-11-22 09:39:00
It was going to be sometime before it was the turn of Indian Airlines passengers to check in their luggage. Iqbal was under a huge wave of tension. We were 20 kgs over weight. We had two big bags and one small travel bag to check in. Plus, we had one hand bag weighing around 7 kgs and a picture frame as cabin luggage. Iqbal had no clue how many kilos the staff would wave off, neither of how

Miss You Tweaks
2007-11-19 11:52:00
Its just a day before I leave for Dubai. I'm missing my brother alot. My mom and dad and in-laws are all with Iqbal and me, just not my brother-in-law, Hussain and Bakir. I'm actually very very happy that I'm returning to my home. I'm also feeling quite emotional. And I'm really missing Bakir a lot. I'm remembering all those crazy days of our childhood (which I will write about) ; I'm thinking

The next day I had to visit my gynaecologist and catch the bus to Ahmednagar. It was quite a hectic but exciting day. At the gy - clinic, I saw so many expectant mothers with their partners and family and so many 'just mom's'. The whole atmosphere got me

Re-Learning - Blood Pressure.
2007-11-10 19:12:00
This is one of the newest questions to have popped into my head. What is blood pressure? This is a term we come across since childhood and then we study about it in school. We write about it in our exams and then once we clear the semester we forget all about it unless we keep practicing or using what we have learned and applying it to our lives. Though I love Science and remember most of what

Converting the Dirham
2007-11-08 19:17:00
Ever since I landed in India, I've been converting the Dirham and that has been helping me spend a lot of Rupees. Unlike when I first came to Dubai, when my conversions from Rupees to Dirhams helped save meagre Dirhams and starved my stomach most of the time. Ever since I've come here, I've been converting the Dirhams to Rupees mostly when I have to eat something. Yesterday, I ate three plates
