New Doctor + New Daycare = Two Nervous Girls
2008-02-03 02:14:00
This evening the pups were slightly stressed with a visit to our new family doctor. We had grown unhappy with our current veterinarian, Care Animal Hospital and decided to try a different facility, Indian Tree Animal Hospital. So why the change after 3 years?1. A veterinarian is just like your children's doctor. You want to feel like they are helping your child, not milking you for money. Our last few visits felt like sales pitches more than check-ups.2. Most of the actual veterinarians that cared for Zoe and Millie the first few years had left the facility and in many ways, so did the heart of the office. So it was time for something new as the pups were overdue on their shots and will be going to a new doggie-daycare starting this week (and need to show their shot records).Overall, the new vet's office was great. The girls were nervous, as expected, but the staff was great and made us feel welcome. The place was beautiful and clean. The girls got their shots updated (a few pokes ...

Happy Birthday Erin Quinn
2008-02-02 20:34:00
Happy Birthday to my friend and fellow Indigian Erin Quinn . She is a wonderful person, great spirit and brings a lot of life, love and personality to Indigio (and mine & Dale's life too). I thought a photo collage would help those who don't know her, see her "personality". Now you may notice that a LOT of these photos involve costumes, dancing and drinking. Now I am NOT saying that this represents her true "personality" but I will tell you it was very difficult to find photos missing these three elements. I am just saying. You can make your own inferences. :)Costume & drink. Two out of three is not too bad. Erin takes disco diva to new levels.I love the nightlife, I love to boogie on the disco round. Oh, there's the dancing. Go Erin, it's your birthday. No wait. This was Halloween. Now everyone will admit that Erin is a total betty, but in this case, she is a total Wilma since Sara is dressed as Betty. Nice gams ladies.By this late in the day, Erin has lost her Betty wig ...

Ready to Laugh? Hilarious & Inappropriate Video
2008-02-02 20:05:00
Before you play this video, please read warning below! Everyone - I came across this on Youtube. This is the funniest and most inappropriate video I have seen in a long time. If you like Sarah Silverman, music, Jimmy Kimmel, the F-word, Matt Damn or stupid humor, please watch this video as it is sure to make you laugh out loud.Dale - DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO. You will hate it. It is crude, stupid and features bad language, so it is basically everything you hate. The only thing in it you may like is that it features Matt Damon, but you can rent the Bourne Identity to see him.

It's All About Obama
2008-02-02 18:03:00
I have spent a lot of time this morning researching and educating myself on Barack Obama . Up to this point I have been leaning mostly toward the Hillary camp, but have not focused two much on the Presidential Primaries until now because I hate it when there are 12 candidates. Now that we are down to a few candidates for each Party, it is manageable. What have I learned:1. My views seem a lot closer to Barack Obama than Hillary Clinton based on their websites.2. I keep getting caught up in the fact that Hillary Clinton has more experience than Barack Obama, but can we sacrifice a little experience for the sake of economic and social reform.3. The fact that if Hillary Clinton wins and for some reason lasts two terms it could mean 32 years of the Bush and Clinton families ruling the white house. That would mean in every election I have been eligible to vote there would have been a Bush or Clinton in the ballot. For some reason to me having two families lead our country for so long seems...
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton - 30+ Years of Two Options?
2008-02-01 04:13:00
Dale and I watched the Presidential Debate tonight with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton . Here are my thoughts (for what they are worth):It is much easier to watch two candidates debate versus six.I found myself starting to warm to Barack. Up until this point, I have placed a high priority on experience. Although, I feel Hillary better understands what goes into being U.S. President, I found Barack to be quick on his feet tonight, engaging and charming. An interesting point was made that if Hillary won, it could possibly be over 30 years of the Bush & Clinton families running the White House. That made me think. Is that really a good idea for two families to have such control of our government and country. It is weird. We see ourselves so much to be all about the people, but is it really just a few families? It is also an interesting thought that Papa Bush drove the country into a recession and Bill Clinton brought us back into economic and social prosperity, now we may be ...

Reserved, Quiet & Isolated
2008-01-30 23:51:00
I am in a weird mood today. I am feeling a little reserved, quiet and isolated. The type of day where you want to be alone and just think. Not really sure why....just the way I feel. So I gravitated to these pictures when I saw them on JPG. Both just seem to speak to how I feel.Untitled by Bryce Laughlincold winter night by Pawa Jaz

Where The Wild Things Are
2008-01-30 23:45:00
"Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak’s was my favorite book as a child (and still warms my heart to this day). Spike Jonze is turning it into a movie. I am hoping he will bring the story of a mischievous boy who creates his own universe in which he rules a world full of hairy, wild creatures to life in a convincing and wonderful way. Today, Warner Brothers released some sneak peak photos to build excitement and this picture truly warms my heart, so it is a great sign. If you have NOT read the book, go get it today. You will not be disappointed.
Candyland at Adam's Mark Hotel
2007-12-06 20:57:00
This is not a great picture (since I took it using my camera phone) but there is an amazing 10 foot high, 20 foot wide candy display for the holidays at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Denver. It is mechanical and features candy moving through the entire thing. Very cool!
This Week's Episode: Brenda Takes Becki's Place
2007-12-06 05:03:00
I had a dream last night and apparently my dreams are becoming like an episode of Dynasty. Who knew? Anyhow, back to my dream.I dreamt that my office mate, Becki, returned to work after a day off, but wasn't quite herself. She really didn't know where anything was or who anyone was. She kept saying things like, "Hey, you? How are you doing?" to everyone rather than refer to them by name. When Laura came into our office, she sort of blew her off and when she left she said, "What does she do here?" and I said, "Who Laura?" And this time she said, "Yeah Laura. That girl. What does she do again?"This went on for several days with endless questions about where is the Situation Room and references to Wayne only as "kiddo". I just assumed the stress finally got to her. But then another Becki showed up screaming that she had been locked in the basement by her twin sister Brenda and forced to take care of Brenda's new baby. The person who was in the office the past few days said she was B...

Real Life Calvin & Hobbes
2007-12-04 04:29:00
Similar to this one, I will be creating my own live versions of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes comic strips after the next large snow storm. I recommend you do the same. I can't wait to see the surprise on Dale's face when I have the driveway full of protesting snowmen.

I just adore these comics. I personally think the strips featuring Calvin and the snowmen, where by far the best. They always make me smile. Calvin has the mind and spirit, I wish every child had. There is more snowman fun out there.

Wii Bit of Karma?
2007-12-03 23:39:00
Damn you Nintendo Gods, damn you all!Perhaps the Nintendo Gods saw that Dale and I were able to get 4 certificates for Wiis yesterday and rained down on us. We both had Chinese food last night and spent the bulk of the night and morning sick. I would like to point out that 3 of the Wiis did go to other people, so they were not used for selfish reasons. We have both recovered, but I am wondering if it is a bi of karma for not following the Wii process as presented by Best Buy. They say karma is a bitch.

Holiday Suprises
2007-12-03 03:44:00
This past weekend we received two surprise holiday gifts from friends. There is something so wonderful about receiving gifts this time of year. I love the joy of the holidays and the great spirit of everyone. On Saturday we met our friend Barb for breakfast. She gave us an adorable Peanuts ornament that plays music. She is a reader of my blog and had seen my postings on the Peanuts TV specials (It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas) and found us a special ornament. She is so sweet and such a dear friend. It was a great way to start the weekend. We went to her place after breakfast to help Barb in picking out shutters for her windows. The woman from Hunter Douglas was there to show samples. Dale did all the helping. I took a post breakfast nap on the couch while they discussed window shutters. Thanks for the great ornament Barb. We have added it to our tree and it seems very happy. For those of you who know Barb's previous taste in ornaments, I figured ...

3...no 4...Favorite Songs of the Week - 12/2/07
2007-12-03 01:04:00
I figured since I spent the bulk of today decorating the house for the holidays, it made sense to give my holiday music recommendations for this week's blog entry on my favorite songs. I am a huge fan of Christmas music. While listening to that music most of today, I realized there are a lot of sad Christmas songs and songs about longing after the one we love. Oddly enough, these seem to be some of my favorite holiday songs. So much for holiday joy because when it comes to Christmas music, I am all about the sad songs that say so much. River from Joni Mitchell's 1987 Blue album. I love this song so much, it stays on my favorites playlist year round. Jone Mitchell lyrics are full of regret and a desire to get away. I cannot recommend this song enough. Let's be honest, anything by Joni Mitchell is worth a listen. There is also a wonderful version by Sarah MacLachlan. All I Want For Christmas Is You from Mariah Carey's 1994 Merry Christmas album. This song just always makes me happ...

Wii Are A Little Tired Today
2007-12-02 20:36:00
Dale and I got up early this morning and headed over to Best Buy in Westminster to stand in line for a Nintendo Wii. We went to Best Buy on Friday night to drop off my nieces laptop (which is totally fried by the way, but thankfully I got a warranty when I bought it) to the Geek Squad and we ran into the Store Manager, Jerome, who Dale and I know from buying our new entertainment center in the basement. He let us know they "most likely" were expecting a shipment of Wii on Saturday night and they would be available Sunday. He told us how to go on-line and check the Sunday circular in advance to find out. We checked the site and Wiis were advertised, so we hit the line at 7:00 AM. We were 15th and 16th in line.Due to the wonderful world of Twitter Tweets and cell phones, we were able to talk to Brandon, Mike, Erin and Summer who were also in lines at Best Buys across the Denver area. At 8:00 AM, the good employees at Best Buy announced the Westminster store had 60 Wiis ready for 10:00...

Welcome Back Old Friend
2007-12-02 00:42:00
Christmas lights shine bright.snowman returns to our tree, such simple beauty.Dale and I started our holiday decorating today. Although it is a lot of work, I truly love the end result. We have more to finish tonight and tomorrow, but the house is slowly evolving into a winter wonderland. Here is a snapshot of my favorite ornament on the tree. The ornament hold no special meaning and is just something we bought at Target a few years ago. But I love snowman and like the simplicity of this one. I always look forward to seeing him each year.'Tis the season I truly love.

2007-11-30 04:56:00
Dale and I watched Kathy Griffin 's new comedy special tonight on Bravo called Straight to Hell. This special was hilarious, just like all the rest. If you have not watched one of her specials or checked out her show, My Life on the D-List, you are missing out. She is f-ing hysterical. She's not just for the gays anymore...well mostly not.

Remember When Garages Were For Cars?
2007-11-30 04:38:00
I came across a great blog entry while on Digg tonight from the WallStreetFighter Blog that I thought I would share. It is very true and something to notice more and more in my neighborhood. It drives Dale crazy that so many people park their cars outside in a neighborhood where everyone has a three car garage.Something I've noticed more and more as I drive around the neighborhood is that everybody is turning into a frickin packrat. We're not talking about middle income here, we're talking $300,000 plus homes and $30,000 vehicles. You think the dumps are full? Just think of how full they would be if people started throwing stuff in their garages away and started pulling in their cars?

Something new, something old

Okay, am I the only one who schedules holiday cartoons on his DVR?I am sorry to say that Shrek the Halls does NOT compare to A Charlie Brown Christmas. This is not great and not destined to be a classic. If you missed it for shopping at REI, dinner at Red Lobster or playing Rock Band, do not worry...you did not miss much. However, Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic and I did enjoy it tonight. It is the 40th anniversary of the cartoon. Where to start? Firstly, Dr. Suess was a genius. He was able to create worlds. Worlds of wonder. The cartoon was directed by Chuck Jones, best known for every good Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoon. I still can remember as a kid sitting with my Dad laughing at the classic Looney Toones cartoons. He introduced me to the joy of cartoons and showed me that even adults can love cartoons. But back to Chuck Jones...another genius.I love the song You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch! The lyrics are pure fun. How can you not "love stink, stank, st...

I Admit It, I Want to Be Linus
2007-11-28 04:08:00
I am watching A Charlie Brown Christmas on my DVR. I recorded it earlier tonight. This is probably the 25th time I watched it...I am sure I must have missed a few years. Some thoughts...I have said it before, but I will say it again...Linus is the purest, most beautiful character ever written.Charlie Brown breaks my heart, but makes me smile.Sally is the perfect sister. She is needy, but loving.Snoppy reminds me of my dog, Zoe. I think if she had a dog house, she would decorate it with holiday lights too. However, she would eat Woodstock most likely.Best quote ever, as I know ever child thinks this. Sally in her letter to Santa - "Dear Santa Claus, How have you been? Did you have a nice summer? How is your wife? I have been extra good this year, so I have a long list of presents that I want. Please note the size and color of each item, and send as many as possible. If it seems too complicated, make it easy on yourself: just send money. How about tens and twenties?" I love that Schoed...

Sleepy
2007-11-27 15:47:00
I had a rough time waking up this morning to head to the gym with Dale. We did not go to the gym yesterday since it was our first day waking up early post holiday. So this morning the guilt set in. However, today was still tough too. It seems 4:30 AM comes far to quickly. I even went to bed early last night to try to make sure I was rested enough to get a good workout, but I was still tired. The workouts have been tough for November. I seem to be making very little progress in my weight loss. I lost 20 pounds initially in September and October, but seem to be at a standstill this month. Dale and I are being less strict on our diet too, so that is not helping.I need to get focused again!

Bad Parents

This is a rant. If you do not feel like reading about me complaining - stop now. (If you do not want to hear anything except positive, happy thoughts, please move onto the next blog entry - it is about my favorite songs and is much happier). I find it amazing how clueless people can be. How they can become caught up in themselves so much that they lose sight of everything going on around them. Today, Dale and I went to Floyd's Barbershop to get our haircut, like we do every three to four weeks. However, today the environment was far from relaxing. There was a family there made up of five children (three boys, two girls) and the parents. The parent took absolutely NO INTEREST in watching their own children, who spent most of their time fighting, running around or carrying in snow from outside to throw at each other. The children were not the worst part - it was the Mother. She spent the entire time on the computer booking a trip for late February for her and her husband (who was just...
