Enough is enough is..........

My good friend, and now ex colleague went to see Amy Wineglass - opps Winehouse on Monday night at the Brighton Centre, and from his texts of the gig, I knew she was completely off her box and slaughtered! In fact the show started two house late, by which time according to 'our' man in the crowd, the audience was getting drunker and drunker. Slow hand clapping and booing all the time and then whoosh it started "The band started up and her fabulous backing singers/dancers were getting into the groove. Then she appeared, Miss Wineglass sort of staggered across the stage, beehive hanging on for grim death held up by her last kirby grip. I could only think of 2 words to describe her, Patsy Stone" claims David on his blog ( full review - ), I was going to go along with him to see her, but I failed to get a ticket for the sold out gig. I'm kinda glad in one way as I'd have been bored to death with the two hour wait standing in the same spot and my dodge leg would have been throbbing l...
Without.......
2007-11-26 16:56:00
How come it's dark before 4pm these days? Where do the day light hours go? I'm enjoying the first day off of my set of four after a rather low almost depressing shift of four on! Apart from making up silly songs in the middle of the night, gorging ourselves on chip kebabs and two people doing the job's of 6 it's been rather sad. Dear old David has completed his last night shift, not just for this week or month, but ever. He's departing the dark side and heading onwards and upwards to the day shift, the nights just wont be the same without him. He was the glue that kept sanity together, he was the voice of reason and was my lunch partner, trips to Legends at 1.30am will just not be the same, but, hey I wish him well in his new job, am sure he'll do well!OK, so the world and his wive and four kids have all gone social networking mad! It seems these days you just not anyone until you have an online profile on one of the major social interaction sites. I must say, the fear of bein...
Love at first sight???
2007-11-24 09:54:00
Phew, I've just come to then end of another night shift and it's been a night where every single hour seemed like two! And, I wondered if there could be any more that 24 hours in the day? Why oh why when you're watching the clock during working time those ticking hands rotate at half speed, yet if it's your leisure time they practically spin themselves off going so fast!During those long dark night hours, we tried to make up songs about the place that is called work, now I don't claim to be a wordsmith or a clever lyricist, so my addition to the collective collaboration was simply - "I think this office, is like an orifice on the lower portions of a hippopotamus" OK, so perhaps I shouldn't give up the day job, or should that be night job?During lunch, David and I slopped off to Shaw Towers to escape and whilst we were there I popped a DVD of Sex And The City to while away our hour of freedom. It was one of the shows where someone was getting married to someone else after only ...

Yesterday the weather was windy, wet and all rather depressing, however the mood was lifted when I had a call from Mo, the most active granny in all of Brighthelmstone, informing me she was in the pub with her lovely daughter Nade. So I tootled off down to The King & Queen public house on the Stein. The King & Queen is a fascinating building, that is steeped in history and in one form or another dates back to the late 1700's! We had a pint in there before took a little stroll back to get the bus over to Portslade to where Mo resided. Brighton is currently in a transition phase from old to new, there are parts of this lovely city that have been modernised and changed almost beyond recognition. Even though the rain was falling, the wonderful mix of old and new along New Street shows why this town has so much beauty to it whatever the weather. New Road has been redesigned to become an attractive public space, entirely paved with granite slabs and lined with beautifully designe...

Madness!
2007-11-18 17:06:00
I woke with a full bladder and a howling in my head that struck my very core. Yet as I emptied my bladder the howling continued unabated, either I have a brain tumour or it's windy outside, I reasoned with myself! I padded to the lounge and found the window open and thankfully gazing down the street to the sea I could tell that the brain tumour had not struck me down during the hours of slumber - it was windy as hell! I could see the white water of the waves racing to shore and pondered going for a ride, obviously it being a Sunday, I dismissed that thought straight from my head in an instant, I'm not that mad! After I had ventured round the road to the little corner shop, which must be the only one left in England that isn't run by Asians and got the Sunday papers. I felt the wind on my face and decided to take a little walk along the front, so I went down that way and near got blown off my feet, it was then decided to be a short walk! I was along the f...

Winter again
2007-11-17 16:03:00
Today's weather - wet, windy, cold, I think winter is here at last!I was a good lad, when Jake said come down for one last night I took him at his word and went down for one, which as is always the way turned into two, but, that kinda goes without saying. I mean I'm a gay man, and we just can not have just one pint in the pub, it's not the done thing, it's just not gay-legal!Besides, I just had to get out of the house, I was suffering Charity over-load! The annual Children In Need was dominating the BBC schedule and I'd had about as much as I could take. I mean, we had bumbling Terry Wogan hosting along with flighty Fern 'Xtra Factor' Cotten which was OK, but I think I do tire of constant demands for me to pick up the phone and give my hard earned dosh to kids charities by various celebs, who if they gave just one days wages would negate the need to have such appeals. Anyways we had John Barrowman singing, which was good, I can hardly believe he's 40 ya know, or he's been w...

If reality is no longer real, when is reality actually reality?
2007-11-16 15:23:00
The whole of the south has been bathed in clear blue skies and watery winter sunshine for the past couple of days which has made my time away from the office all that much much more enjoyable. Yesterday I got the old cycle out and trundled off to Portslade and met up with Mo! Mo for those that don't know is a 50 something lady with the energy of a 20 year old who loves to club to really hard dance music that's so hard it makes the ear's of your average hoodie boy bleed! We nattered and chatted and then cycled down the prom, she went off to meet her daughter and I came home to relax my aching muscles. As one reality TV show takes to the airwaves another finishes relatively unnoticed. Celebrity Scissor Hands, a show where allegedly celebs cute various poor sods hair, all in the name of reality TV and charity. I'm not sure where they've got the idea of Celebs from, I mean on this hairdressing disaster show they had tiny wee teen rapper 'Lil Chris' equally tiny yet much older acto...

Funny News Days
2007-11-14 15:01:00
Do you ever see the news and wonder what the hell is going on with the world? I often do and today is no exception, for example catching my eye today from the newspaper and the 24 hour news channels is the very odd story of an Indian farmer who has married his dog! Yes, honestly, it's true, this guy has actually married a dog after a long search for a 'suitable bride', Selvakumar managed to get a four-year-old mongrel bitch from a friend and had a fully-fledged Hindu wedding in front of villagers and elders on Sunday. Eyewitnesses said the canine bride, named Selvi, was adorned in a sari and flowers and brought to the temple by village women. A Hindu priest conducted the ceremony.I know we're all supposed to be going green and recycle, but if the latest trend in China starts to happen over here, I'm not joining in! Apparently over there used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in parts of southern China! A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 fen which is a...

Laptop hunting

It's day four of what would be my four away from that place they call work, or rather it would be if I didn't have the next shift off, therefore it's day four of twelve. I shook the sleep from my eyes early this morn and headed on a walk into town. My first thought was to check out the shops in Churchill Square, however as I arrived at the monstrous glass and stone monument to retail delights before 9am, I carried on and headed up towards the Seven Dials area of town. I hardly ever explore this end of town, indeed the only time I've ever spent time up this neck of the woods is when I was shagging a part time DJ with a passion for weed taking it up back passage when the girlfriend was away! As memories of those sexual adventures faded I carried on along The Old Shoreham Road until I found myself outside PC World, which is a pretty long way, in fact according to Google maps, it's 4.9 miles! I snuck inside and marvelled at the expensive laptops on offer and wondered, A) if I could...

Desperately Seeking??
2007-11-12 13:48:00
Welcome to the Seafront Diaries, your insight into the life of a small select Brighton boys and girls as we go about our daily lives. Think Sex And The City, but with boys and in the gaytropolis that is Brighton, oh and less make-up! So there we were, David and I heading up to town on November 5th ready to explore the big smoke. David is one of those happy, jolly, forty-something gay men that have a youthful passion for music, drama, divas, musicals and Starbucks. He's always fun to go out with as, well to be honest you've never sure where it will end, if indeed it does. (You can check out David's world on David's Daily Dramas! !) Anyway, having take the train to Victoria and then a number 38 to the end of the west, David suggested we head to my own citadel of casual fashion - the newly opened store of American casual kings - Abercrombie & Fitch! Now, call me Queen Silly of the Silly people if you wish, but I'm never one to miss out on a retail therapy opportunity. So wit...

mucking fuddled
2007-10-06 13:04:00
Sometimes life is all straight forward with hardly a kink and then at other times it's a right old mucking fuddling puddle of tangledness! I've just finished work and feel about as normal as a washing machine in the desert, my mind is pretty much mush ( some of you maybe thinking, nothings different!) I've been kinda bitchy to my mate David tonight, but it wasn't my fault, he needed it, and it's because he barged his way into Gabriells dressing room the night before last and I always blame him a little bit of the god awful state I was in after our drunken night on the town!Everything seems to be confusing me at the moment, first there is a new film about the life and times of Bob Dylan that's been approved, but there are six people going to be playing the music man. Richard Gere, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Ben Whislaw, and young black actor Marcus Carl Franklin in his movie debut all play the great man, the sixth person in the film to be Bob is.....Cate Blanchett! Yep, conf...

I'm not sure who I blame, whether it's our Rachael or perhaps our David, or maybe even me! I arranged to Meet up with David on Tuesday and then by the fickle finger of fate we happened to bump up into little Rachael, so then we popped off for a beverage. Well, one beverage turned into two, which in turn turned into three, and then four and then oh my god it's morning!Yes, the three of us started out little escapade in red painting of the town in St James, a pub on St James Street, which as thats where we were seemed like a good starting point. Then after that we headed off to The Amsterdam, after sitting on the terrace for a couple it was on to Charles Street and then we twinkled round to VaVoom. Now I dont know how this happened, or why, but after that we went in to Revenge and I tried to pull a student young enough to be my son and then I danced like my dad! Oh how embaracing it was, we;; actually it would have been if the alcohole had not softened my memories of such events.Af...

Spice up your life!
2007-10-01 13:26:00
Wow, a whole four nights at work have passed by so very slowly,, two nights of boredom and two nights of semi boredom! It;s not been the busiest of weeks at work, which is good in one way in that we can relax a little, but in another way, it seems like each passing hour is 120 minutes long! While I've either been working, or sleeping the world has carried on revolving, and democracy in Burma has been defeated yet again. The military crackdown in Burma is a reminder that street demonstrations and protests do not necessarily lead to success for the people. The military leaders in Burma have seen that the popular uprisings for a more democratic way of life have been squashed, well at least for the time being. Some say China was partly responsible, the crackdown was like something from a Chinese handbook on how to halt protests. About 4,000 monks have been rounded up in the past week as the military government has tried to stamp out pro-democracy protests, lead mainly by these compassio...
