Fun link from Steve Bass
2007-11-13 03:44:00 This is fun, check it out!http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L =259460See how the candidates rank along with your beliefs. I came out with Kucinich at the top (no surprised), then Dodd (that one was surprising), then Obama and Clinton. I was surprised Edwards was farther down.See how you fare!If you like filling out surveys and/or giving your opinion, try Harris Poll Online. I have done this for years, and it is fun.http://www.harrispollonline.comHere's another Candidate Calculator that Steve sent. Again I came up with Kucinich as number one. If only he were electable and could do the job!http://www.vajoe.com/candidate_calcul ator.htmlVisit my site at http://tvmegasite.net! More About: Link , Bass
Happy Veteran's Day!
2007-11-12 01:30:00 I found on the frontpage of Blogger this fun blog To Do ListIt is all about to do lists. She even has a book coming out. Amazing! I have to admit that I really love making lists of all types.I hope everyone had a great weekend! We did all our usual stuff, going out, eating, drinking, shopping...nothing too exciting.I did a ton of recording last night. I was in the groove for sure. I sure hope I get my new stereo soon so I can transfer them to the pc without all that background buzzing noise.Tomorrow is a holiday for some...It's time to update my tv blog now...hope you can visit it!Later!Visit my site at http://tvmegasite.net! It's already November!
2007-11-08 08:01:00 Ugh, where does the time go? I keep asking that but no one answers me! :)I found this new thing called Stixy. It's like a bulletin board and you can drag and drop notes, pics etc. Check out my current stixy page. I say current, because unlike MySpace or one of those other sites, you can make multiple pages. I just put up some pics, my to do list, and a few links and stuff.I should be doing one of three or four things right now - getting the house picked up, recording some songs, listening to some other people's songs, answering emails etc. but instead I am futzing around here on the computer and watching tv. Oh, and I forgot..laundry.I want to say a big HI AND WELCOME! to my friend John K. We went to college and just recently found each other on the net again after all these years. It's been over 20 years. Weird, huh. It's fun catching up.Let's see, what else has been going on.Oh, so, I finally got hold of someone at Radio Shack who told me that it will cost $120 to cost my ... Happy Halloween!
2007-10-30 17:55:00 I can't believe it's less than two months to Christmas!Every year I say I am going to lose weight by Halloween so I can wear some sexy outfit. Now this time of year, I always say I'm going to lose weight by next Summer, so I can wear cute summer clothes. :) Well, this year is no different...let's see if I can actually stick to it this time! Ha ha!I really do have all the reasons in the world to be motivated: if I lose weight, I will get a whole new wardrobe, it will be easier to be in a band (no fat chick band), my diabetes will be better, etc. But it doesn't seem to help much. I do exercise quite a bit, but it's the eating that's a problem.I hope you all have a great Halloween! I purposely bought 2 small bags of candy that were types I don't like too much, so I won't eat it or at least, not over-eat it. This year we have decorations up for the first time. The dollar store had some great stuff. I have a scarecrow wreath-thing on the door, a ceramic pumpkin candle holder... More About: Happy , Allo

2007-10-11 05:06:00 Wow, this week went fast!I've had fun setting up my new desk and general area in the living room. It's a tiny desk and yet I got it to hold a lot.Windows is still crashing but not very often, so I have been lazy about running the diagnostics needed so I can phone Dell back.Last Saturday we went to the Bama football game. It was homecoming. They have a shuttle from the mall, so we parked at the mall and took that...easier than finding a parking space on campus, which is kind of insane and then we'd have to walk a long ways. They have all these outdoor booths with people hawking stuff. I realized as soon as we got there, though, that it was WAY hotter than I expected it to be. I was wearing shots with a nice top, and I had not put up my hair. So I bought a cap and a tank top right away. Then we planned to walk to the Strip, which is the area near the campus where they have all the students bars and some restaurants and stores. Well, we thought it was like a block from the stadiu... More About: Thoughts
Whoops!
2007-10-04 04:03:00 Well, I thought I had fixed my problems, but I didn't. My new Dell laptop keeps getting the blue screen of death (crashing on me). I thought I had fixed it by updating my drivers for my new keyboard and trackball, but that didn't help. So I phoned Dell...he updated my video driver, which was the only thing that was remotely out of date, since this is a brand new computer! The bios was already up to date, too. So if this didn't do it, he gave me a few other things to try. We were on our way out, so I had to hang up with him. So if it crashes again after all this, I will just phone them again. Let's hope I don't have to. I hate that. Thank goodness they didn't just say, "Sorry, it's a Windows issue and we can't help you with that"!!This morning, I got up early for a change, and we went to the park with the dog. After that, we took the dog to the vet so he could get his weekly bath (he gets a special one because of all of his allergy and skin problems). When we got back, t...
Monday Monday yet again
2007-10-02 03:06:00 Well, I managed to fix a lot of my problems this weekend!I was dreading phoning DISH, but I got someone who was very efficient and knew exactly what she was doing! WOW!! She solved our problems with the remotes in about two minutes. Woo hoo!I got my new power cord today and now my port replicator works! I am watching this on a huge 20" LCD monitor! Yipppeeee!!Someone told me about this great site by Nielsen Media (you know, the people who do the TV ratings?). http://www.heynielsen.com You can rate and comment on the various tv shows. Who knows, maybe someone important will be listening.I have had really bad allergies this week, which means lots of nasal congestion and coughing. Fall is the second worst time of the year for my allergies. I may have to go back to the nasal rinse kit again..not something I want to do, but it may be the only thing to clear all this gunk up again. I was supposed to be doing it regularly, but I hate it, I have to admit. Surprisingly, it is not very... More About: Monday
Important Message!
2007-09-29 20:14:00 Hey, I got an email from Paul Newman! Love your popcorn and salad dressing, dude!Dear Suzanne,It was one of my life's proudest achievements.More than the films, more than the awards - finding out that I was onNixon's Enemies List meant that I was doing something right.Nixon didn't like my campaigning for Democratic presidential candidateEugene McCarthy. But then again, he didn't much care for debate, dissent,or the Constitution either. I was proud to stand with Democrats against an imperial president backthen. And I am proud now to stand with a new generation of Democratsagainst a president who poses what I believe to be the biggest internalthreat to American democracy in my lifetime. That's why, when I was asked to send this message on behalf of theDemocratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), I quickly agreed. ADemocratic Senate is the best defense against this administration. I am asfrustrated as all of you that Congress hasn't made more progress on issueswe care ab... More About: Message , Mess
Another week, nothing new!
2007-09-25 17:40:00 Today I am at the university for a few hours. Wow, their wireless is so slow...and there's a big article in the school paper about how they are putting more wireless around the campus...whoops, better make sure it works well first!Bugs is at the vet for his weekly bath. He's also getting flea medicine finally, so I hope that helps!I did a bunch more recording on Saturday...it's been fun!Screwed up sleeping schedule as usual! Sunday I got up around 5 pm, so I stayed up until Monday noon. Then I went to bed around midnight and woke up this morning at 5:30. Ugh. So I am a bit tired...Our DVR Dish box has been messing up...I hope it's temporary. It was making weird noises this morning and then kept pausing or "sticking", and then when I rebooted it, it went into "system diagnostics". I hope that fixed it....otherwise I am going to have to call tech support...GROAN.My allergies have been really bad this week...that's part of why I have been having weird sleeping patterns. And t... Hump Day!
2007-09-20 07:46:00 So I have my own TV network :) No, just kidding, it's a virtual one. It's a game they have, so check it out. http://www.tvbigshot.com/network/3551/It' s funny how the simple things can make you happy. I am just so stoked lately to be able to organize things in my house better. I am tickled pink that we have a new bookcase in our bedroom. It just looks so much better. I have my new keyboard and monitor, too. The keyboard is fine...the monitor doesn't work yet. I am waiting on a port replicator so that it can connect to the laptop as it uses a DVI cable. Here's the funny thing that happened. So I phoned Dell and chose "tech support" to ask them, what kind of adapter, or docking station, or whatever, do I need to get the new screen to work? Well, the guy said that I don't need the DVI cable, only the VGA cable. I was doubtful because the instructions, and the picture on them, clearly have both cables going into the PC. So I said, ok, I will see if I can get it to work with... More About: Hump
new blog to read
2007-09-18 02:01:00 Please visit my brother Pat's new blog on the right (Buildin' Rockets). Here is a photo of me from our visit to Los Angeles. This was at Dimples, the first karaoke bar outside of Japan.I bought a new Canon scanner months ago from Amazon. It is very lightweight and takes up very little room. I had planned to use it on the couch with my laptop to make it more convenient for me to scan. The one in the other room, which is huge because it's also a printer and copier, is not as convenient because it's on the other side of the desk from my pc, so I have to get up and go around the desk every time I put something new in the scanner. I never did get around to using this scanner, but I finally did yesterday. Since I got my new desk and chair, I finally installed the printer and the new scanner. I am still learning how to use it and make the pics come out clear, especially autographed photos.I still find myself forgetting that I have this big keyboard and mouse, and I start using the lap... 2007-09-16 01:57:00 I just gave up trying to put my desk together, so I found this guy Tigg, after calling Office Depot. He came over and finished it, and put together a bookcase for me, and fixed the keyboard shelf on our other desk, all for only $25! I tried to offer him more, but he wouldn't take it. He did a great job, too! So right now I am very happy to be sitting at my new desk in my living room. I have a new mouse, too (well, really,a trackball). I am also getting a new monitor and keyboard, so the laptop will essentially just be the CPU except when I travel. I got a good deal at Tiger Direct on a 20" LCD monitor, and a pretty good deal on a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard at Amazon. This keyboard I am using at the moment is pretty old and noisy (and the keys are not easy to use). I think it's at least 7 years old.We went to Target this morning in my continuing search for cheap decorative boxes for my house. I did not find any. I did get a frame for a picture I have that has a matte fra... More About: Stuff

2007-09-13 00:42:00 We took Bugs to the animal dermatologist in Birmingham today. It is an hour away, and then we had to kill time for 3 hours while they ran many tests. So, we went to Whole Foods, had lunch, and bought a bunch of stuff. Then we went to the Vulcan statue, which we'd seen many years ago, and I checked out their gift shop. Then we checked out the downtown library for a while. I have been so tired all day...we had to leave at 8 am.Anyway, so Bugs was tested for allergies again, and we should get the results in a few weeks. Then they will give him allergy shots. He also has a staph infection from all of his biting and scratching, so he got antibiotics for that. He still has a yeast infection, so we have some pills for that, too. He still has fleas, which he's allergic to, so the vet is going to give him some more flea medicine that will hopefully help more than it did before. And he will be getting a bath every week with these special shampoos and stuff (at the vet's). Hopefully... More About: Decoration , Home
Tell Me Why
2007-09-04 20:53:00 When I was a little girl in the 60's, my brothers and my mom were into the Beatles, so we had their records and some song books, and we used to sing their stuff all the time for fun, especially the early Beatles. This song below in the video is one of those I always loved. This is from Singsnap, where you can't change the key, so it's a bit low for me. Also it has no reverb or any other effects, just so you know!I am sitting in the University of Alabama's student lounge area. I came in to run some errands, and we dropped the dog off at the vet. He will get a bath and hopefully the doctor will let us know that his yeast infection, at least, is gone or doing better, and maybe give us some other answers. Next week is when he has his real appointment with the animal dermatologist. He did pretty good yesterday, seemed to be more like his old self. I even got him to eat some actual dog food.Sometimes I have to laugh when I see students here and listen to them. There were these t...
Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
2007-09-01 05:23:00 I started writing this the other day, but I had to reboot and then forgot about it! Thankfully, Blogger now saves a draft of what you're typing...about time, too!I really hate it when some company charges me for something I didn't ask for!! That happens way too often nowadays. I am very good at getting these companies to pony up the refunds, though. This company Myiproducts Imail charged us $15 on our phone bell for voice mail services. I phoned AT&T (who has taken over our phone company, Bellsouth), and they said they are removing the charge for 60 days, but I have to work it out with the other company. They also found out for me that they have been charging us for three months! That's how these bogus and sneaky companies work. They hope you are not paying too close attention to your bill and will ignore the extra charges. So I phoned them up and told them I did not order their service. They agreed to cancel the "account" but would not give a refund. I yelled until I got a supe... More About: Great , Weekend , Labor
Lazy Wednesday!
2007-08-29 22:20:00 Our family member who was in the hospital is doing fine now and headed home! Yay! One last thing to worry about.I went to the doctor yesterday, been having a pain right above my knee. I figured it was bursitis, which I've had before in my hip, and I was right. The doctor gave me a good anti-inflammatory and pain killer that helps a lot. I think I also have bursitis in my hip again as well. Getting old sucks! The problems are from being on the computer too much. I spend too much time sitting on the couch with my laptop, which is not very good ergonomically to begin with, and I don't get up and stretch or take enough breaks. So yeah, it's all my own fault. Sometimes I also get very achy arms, neck, back, shoulders...very bad. I will probably set up a timer for 10-15 minute breaks to remind myself.I am also thinking of getting a smaller computer desk that I can use in the living room, as much as I hate to give up the couch and lap, and hooking it up to a regular-sized keyboard an... More articles from this author:2007-08-27 20:33:00 We took Bugs in to the vet on Friday to get blood tests, to see if he had problems with his liver, kidney, or with cancer. They all came back negative. That's good, I guess, but we still don't know what's wrong with him. It seems like every week, he has some new symptom. In the last 9 days, he has become really finicky about eating, and he won't play at all. He still has the plastic cone on his head and his paws are wrapped up, both so he won't scratch, bite, or lick. But even when we take those off, he does not start eating or playing. He just lies around all the time. The only time he's "normal" is when he goes for a walk. Sometimes he starts shaking, or shivering, or tremoring (not sure which to call it), and it seems involuntary. Sometimes when he walks across the room, he walks really funny, like something is wrong with his leg, and it starts moving, like he is going to scratch with it but it doesn't. Like it has a mind of its own. He acts very scared. He will only ... More About: Monday 1, 2 |
