Happy National MT Week!
2008-05-19 11:15:00
To all my fellow Medical Language Specialists out there:  SAAAAA-LUTE!! Dear Lord, Bless the work of my hands and may it glorify You. In all that I do, help me to remember that a patient’s life may depend on the quality of my work. Keep me alert to discrepancies and inconsistencies, and help me to concentrate on my work. Give ...

2008-05-16 13:50:00
I’m feeling really down today.  Blame it on hormones or just that old lack of serotonin thanks to my stellar set of genes.  At least we got to sleep in “the loft” again last night.  It’s hard to believe, considering it’s the middle of May, but it was nice and cool.  That room immediately makes ...

2008-05-15 13:34:00
We were surfing the channels for something to watch yesterday evening when the EAS went off, which automatically switches to the Weather Channel and scrolls a bulletin. A Tornado Warning had just been issued for our county, which means one had actually been sighted. Huh? I didn’t even know it was threatening ...

Joys of Womanhood
2008-05-14 13:55:00
As a woman gets older *cough*, she goes through this thing called “perimenopause.” That’s that time before you can’t have babies anymore and other annoying things cease. A reason to celebrate, yes? No. I’m sure some ladies just breeze through this just like everything else in their happy little lives. ...

The Keys To Your Life
2008-05-12 14:01:00
OK, this is lame…but it’s Monday, after all. So deal. The Keys to Your Life Anything good in your life comes from your ability to play and be free. The best way for you to solve a problem is to let go of it. Anything bad in your life comes from not taking charge when ...

Moms Rock!
2008-05-11 14:18:00
To my mother and all the moms of the world: Thank You! I have the deepest respect for those who give so much of themselves to provide life to another human being. My mom put up with a whole lot of crap with me. (I know that surprises you.) How ...

Ah yes, the 70?s.
2008-05-10 17:35:00
Anyone who grew up in the 70’s in the U.S. will totally relate to this.  I got this in an email a long time ago, but I feel it deserves to be a part of Indelibly Blogged, because I lived this era!  (OK, plus I needed blog fodder.)  I don’t think I’ve laughed this much ...

You can tell it doesn’t take much for people here to get excited. Jack is Back Jack in the Box opened one of their many fast food joints this week in Sweetwater, just down the interstate from us. Randy’s coworkers talked him into going with them for lunch. He’s the one in the blue cap ...

Off the Hook (For Now)
2008-05-08 12:24:00
Well, I have dodged another bullet. In addition to the 3 or so other cysts present, there was one of particular concern, due to so much tissue surrounding the mass. The edges were not clearly visible on the stills from the ultrasound, so the radiologist, Dr. Randolph, came in and looked at the ...

Midnight Serenade
2008-05-06 12:24:00
We slept in the loft last night since it was barely cool enough to do so.  We had the windows open to help with that.  About 1:30 in the morning, a mockingbird decided to put on an impromptu concert.  (Wha????  Do mockingbirds not sleep at all?)  His stage was our neighbor’s roof which just happens ...

I think the highlight of my day yesterday was when Carole emailed me and told me she was sorry I had to endure some of the horrible dictation I tried to decipher on Saturday.  Knowing how long she has been doing medical transcription, it felt good to know it wasn’t just me.  Reassurance is really ...

Another Workday
2008-05-04 15:00:00
Randy and I “slept in” until 5:30 yesterday morning (40 whole minutes!). We got ready, downed a cup of coffee, and I headed to Wally World for groceries while Randy went to the radio station to get the van so he could do a remote out at Dyess Air Force Base Airfest. I’m about to ...

Breathe Deep
2008-05-02 12:35:00
I went outside this morning (NO wind for a change!) and breathed in the heady scent of honeysuckles…one of my favorite flowers. They’re in full bloom and very happy. 28 …Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all ...

So. I’m about to go jogging with Randy yesterday after work and I’m flipping quickly through the mail. I see the envelope from Abilene Regional Medical Center. “Negative, I presume,” I stated as I ripped it open. Then my eyes fall on the words “further evaluation” and “ultrasound.” Double-take. ...

Aging and the Workplace
2008-04-30 13:50:00
Anyone who tells you there is no age discrimination in the workplace is either too young to know or trying to fool you. Over the years, Randy has seen more changes where he works than anyone could imagine. True, radio tends to be a young person’s game, but he has been doing it since he ...

Awake While Asleep
2008-04-29 13:56:00
My brain has been very active the past couple of nights. I could blame the SSRI side effects of Lexapro, I guess, but I’ve always had vivid dreams without it in the past. So much so that I used to sleepwalk when I was young. Again, Freud would probably have a field ...

Wacky Weather
2008-04-27 18:47:00
It was absolutely gorgeous yesterday until dark clouds started rolling in from the west.  We had rain, thunder, and wind all night and the temps this morning are in the 40’s.  Strange.  I was happy to be able to hang out and sleep upstairs in “the loft” one more time before it gets too hot.  ...

Another Week
2008-04-24 13:54:00
It’s hard to believe this week is almost over already. It’s been another mixed bag. I went for my annual mammogram on Monday after work. I have fibrocystic breast disease, with a cluster of cysts in the left breast, so the side view is particularly painful for me. Thankfully, it’s quick…unlike cancer. I remember Susan telling me after she was diagnosed that she had put off going to the doctor when she started having problems. Ladies, do yourself a favor and get checked EVERY year beginning at age 40, earlier if you have any risk factors. You have the power. Summer has arrived early this year. We’re expecting 90+ temps today. I’m in my office with a ceiling fan on high and a smaller fan sitting on the floor, in addition to the AC which we leave on about 78 because electricity is outrageous. We had some severe storms last night, but they carried much-needed rain. I guess I could’ve been blown away by a tornado and not even known abo...

Waiting
2008-04-20 13:36:00

Ghost of Rock Past
2008-04-18 13:43:00
Good ol’ YouTube. When words fail, it comes to the rescue. Randy found this purely by accident while searching for something else. He was more than a little surprised to hear his own voice at the beginning of the clip, announcing the show. This is from the last rock show that the Paramount ...

It seems like every time I put my time, heart, and soul into something, it’s not enough. I don’t understand why that is. The more this happens, the more I want to just give up on trying to do anything, although the process of being productive gives me pleasure. I think I’m ...

Well.  I made it through another week.  I’m healthy, I still have a job, and my husband still loves me.  I’m doing all the good.
