My Dad’s Current Condition 19
2008-02-15 05:03:00 Physiotherapist had started training my dad to walk. A little weak (maybe because my dad had been on the bed almost everyday) but it’s a very good news to hear. The left arm now were getting more active that he now uses the left hand to pull the tubes. It’s a good thing but it’s bad if he wants to pull those tubes. Looks my dad really recovering. Doctors and even the physiotherapists said that my dad could go back home if we wanted to. But still, we planned to let my dad stay in hospital for treatments as we can’t take care of my dad ourself. Like what I’ve said on the previous post on the 3rd paragraph, we decided to let my dad stay in hospital till they remove all the tubes from the body first. My dad still coughed last night but not as serious as before. My dad slept almost a day the day before yesterday. The X-ray scan result shows nothing bad happen or affected. Once the tracheostomy tube was placed, the phlegm will always be building inside th... More About: Current , Condition

My Dad’s Current Condition 18
2008-02-13 05:57:00 My dad coughed badly these few days and alot of hiccups too. Later they will bring my dad for X-ray scanning to scan the chest. Every day the nurses will use nebulizer to liquefy (not sure if there’s such a word) the phlegms together with inhalers. It’s good to make the phlegms more “liquid-ish”, but it will make my dad cough even more. From the previous entry I said that they will remove all the tubes from my dad. What happen was that my dad can’t pass out urine by himself. So they will have to put the tube back. And as for the tracheostomy tube, my dad’s throat was swollen. And my dad’s breathing was still very depending on the tube. The doctor even said that my dad can go back home already but we have to learn how to take care of my dad like feeding, clean the tubes, some basic physiotherapy and so on. Every morning I will have to send my dad to a physiotherapy center near Assunta Hospital. My mom said that she can’t take care of my... More About: Current , Condition

My Dad’s Current Condition 16
2008-02-10 06:54:00 My dad was still very uncomfortable with the feeding tube, the tube for urine and the tracheostomy tube. He tried to pull them and successfully he did (again). And today I could see my dad wasn’t sleeping properly as his body were going to fall off the bed. Luckily there was a rail bar on the side of the bed. My dad’s right arm was tied to the side rail bar so that my dad wouldn’t pull the tubes. My dad was very smart that he could positioned himself so that his hand could reach the tube. Doctor told me that another doctor who did the tracheostomy will be checking my dad’s throat tomorrow and then if everything is ok, they will remove the tube from the throat and then followed by the removal of feeding tube. My dad could swallow 3 spoonful of porridge but after the 4th spoon my dad had enough. Maybe he’s just tired or the pain is still there on his throat after the tracheostomy surgery. My dad is still on a medication which makes the blood “thinne... More About: Current , Condition

2008-02-07 07:00:00 My Dad's Current Condition - Staying Overnight With My Dad I'll be staying overnight with my dad alone in the single bedded ward. I can see from my dad's looks he feels more comfortable in the single bedded ward. More About: Links , Digg , 2008
My Dad’s Current Condition 13
2008-02-07 05:25:00 I’ll be staying overnight with my dad alone in the single bedded ward. I can see from my dad’s looks he feels more comfortable in the single bedded ward. Previously the 4 bedded ward were noisy after an Indian family came with a big group of his relatives in the evening. They were very noisy. My dad has started eating blended porridge. Nurses will still be feeding my dad though the feeding tube. My cousin brother who just came back from China 2 days ago, bought lotion and also powder for my dad. The hospital did not provide them and that’s why my dad’s arm and legs were dry. While staying overnight there, I can see my dad was very suffering. When they did the suction, my dad was chocked when they start sucking all the phlegms and salivas from the tracheotomy tube on the throat. Now I understand why my dad wanted to pull out the tube. I will be going back to the hospital again later around 2pm. It will be a long trip as I still need to fetch my mom back home a... More About: Current , Condition

My Dad’s Current Condition 12
2008-02-05 19:50:00 Today my dad was breathing on his own without any usage of oxygen or what so ever. But then my dad was still on the tracheostomy tube. My dad was so naughty till he pulled out the feeding tube from his nose. Taking out is easy, installing it is hard. Took the nurses 15 minutes to install the tube. They had been training my dad to sit on the chair today. My dad will be going thru some basic physiotherapy starting from yesterday. Physiotherapy is the head start of the recovery process. Some basics like sitting up, moving the hand, moving the eye and so on. Some advance physiotherapy like standing up, walking and so on. I wonder when they are going to transfer my dad to the single bedded ward. It’s already pass Monday and the patient is not out yet. I’ve seen people coming in and out from the ward which my dad placed. Feels very uncomfortable for my dad as they were very noisy. I’ve been going to many banks to pay my dad’s credit card bills and I’ve bee... More About: Current , Condition
