2008-02-02 19:00:00 My dad supposed to be transferred to a single bedded ward today but then the doctor said that my dad need to be in the ward which near to the counter where nurses will be monitoring there. The 3 closest ward were occupied. So my dad will be transferring on Monday. I’ve not seen the doctor today, which means I still do not know how’s the MRI scan results. But the nurse explained briefly to me about my dad’s condition. The scan shows no serious sign. It’s some minor blockage and my dad has been better than the last few days. That’s a short explanation but a very good news to hear. But today my dad were not so responsive. Maybe it’s because of the medication given to my dad has still been active. Today I can only see my dad opening his left eye a little, not as often as yesterday. It’s been a tiring day for my dad. As far as I know, the scan needs to take at least an hour. 2008-02-02 03:34:00 I’ve just pre-ordered the latest Simple Plan album yesterday together with Yeevon before going to visit my dad. This band is cool. I usually do not buy original CDs and most of them were downloaded from the Internet. Well, actually I’ve downloaded some of the songs from this album and that’s why I want to buy their CD. Pre-order will always be cheaper and this album cost 20% lesser than the original price if pre-order. The album will be out on 12th of 13th of February in all the music store. 2008-01-31 17:54:00 My dad were breathing on his own totally without any supports (except for the tube ofcourse). After a while, my dad were coughing badly due to the phlegms. Now they will have to put the BIPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) machine back. The machine does 2 things, it helps to push the air into the lungs and also helps to hold the lungs open allowing more oxygen to enter the lungs. The unit where my dad placed were a bit warm. My dad were sweating and very uncomfortable. Even at home my dad normally remove his clothes even he is inside the air conditioning room. Added a standing fan inside the unit far away from my dad as my dad may catch cold. We could see just from my dad’s looks how uncomfortable he was. My dad’s left eye could open half or more but the other eye were just a line. It’s a big improvement for today. 2008-01-30 16:53:00 My dad could open his eyes now!!! But then it’s only a short while. A very good start I presume. I can see more and more progress from my dad day by day. Doctor said that my dad’s eye muscles were a bit weak which caused by the stroke. Doctor has tried some eye test asking my dad’s eyes to follow the light from the torchlight. My dad’s eyes could move left and right, but up and down were hard for my dad. Every now and then my dad start to improve in other parts of the body. Before this the left arm were not moving at all. Today I can see slight movements. My dad now also able to sneeze out mucus from the nose but swallowing saliva were still a bit hard for my dad as my dad went for tracheostomy surgery operation before. Doctor said that they will remove slowly the tube from the neck and see whether my dad could breath on his own using his mouth without using the tube. 2008-01-29 19:01:00 My dad has been transferred to HD (High Dependency) ward which was next to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) ward today. A sight of relief after transferred because in ICU ward means you’re in danger. Not to say when you’re in HD ward means safe, it’s not so critical. My dad could open his eyes but only a tiny line, opened a little. I think my dad could answer some yes or no questions. When one of my dad’s colleagues asked my dad whether he still wants to work again after recover. Normally a yes my dad would hold my dad’s colleague. But my dad did not hold her hand, which means no. Then my mom asked whether he could hear us, he grab hold on my mom’s hand. Not really sure if this is correct. But I know my dad could hear us and could feel that we were there supporting. More articles from this author:2008-01-25 08:49:00 Me and my mom will not have the time to clean the house or even decorate the house. We have not even buy our Chinese New Year clothes. I just came back from visiting my dad. Still stable as usual. After tomorrow’s surgery, I really hope that I can see better result from my dad. I’ll be going to the hospital again later in the evening. Now the ICU room only left my dad. Other patients had either left the hospital or went to a “non serious” ward. I really hope miracles would happen on my dad in this Chinese New Year . I hope this Chinese New Year will bring us more luck and bless my dad so that he will recover and celebrate together with me and my mom. I wish everyone will have a happy, healthy Chinese New Year.
