Pinoy Foods (Part 2)
2008-02-05 10:49:00 Hmmmmn. I couldn't afford to buy foods for the second part so instead I took pictures of what my mom sells. It turned out to be disgusting (it's not really disgusting) but I'll show it anyway. Sorry about the presentation...I just took them not minding what it would look like.Paksiw na PataThis is pig's feet or legs whatever that thing is called. It's sweet as far as I know. I don't commonly eat this because I can't hardly eat the meat 'coz there's not much. What I do like is the deep fry ones which will be chopped and dipped in spicy soy sauce. Eat it with rice with your hands. Delicious!Sinigang na Baboy (pork)I'm not gonna be particular on what these foods are called in english because I have no clue what they are called in english, if anyone knows the english terms for these please correct me. I love sinigang, any sinigang...shrimp...beef...chicken. Love it!My nephew said he's sick of eating sinigang every single day...oh. It has all the nutrients, my dear nephew.Igad... 2008-02-03 08:06:00 CHOPSUEYJust veggies.PAN DE SALHow come they are so small these days? Well at least they didn't increase the price in my place.DINUGANI love this, especially my when my mom makes it. What's it made of? Pig's blood, pig's intestine/lungs/heart/meat. It's really good! A bit sour and salty.PROVENI also like this food but I can't eat it every time because, according to my sister, I still haven't got my Hepa B vaccine. What's it made of? Ahhhhh...it's from a chicken..which part? I'm not sure all I know is that it's connected with where are the s*** of the chicken goes and the chicken's butt.BAGOONGI just ate mango with this. I think this is called fish sauce in english (LMAO, I'm not sure). It smells, well...it smells bad but it's really good and very salty. I've heard that during the Japanese occupation the Filipino guerrillas put their guns in a bag and bury it with bagoongs (in that bag) and the Japanese doesn't like the smell so it pass inspection so they can carry th... Can't Run The Linux Live CD
2008-02-02 07:52:00 I just received the Ubuntu live CD that I requested, this morning. When I finally got the chance to use the pc, I tried running the live cd without actually installing linux just to give it a try.I did what the cover said, put the cd in your cd-rom and reboot. I did. It didn't work. I've tried about 5 times doing this and I finally click the wi-boot something which installed something in the PC. I'm not sure what it was but one thing's for sure when i reboot the pc an Ubuntu Linux was installed. And I panicked, OMG! What will happen to the windows XP...my sisters are going to kill me!!! OMG!When I reboot, I was given a chance to pick which OS I should use. I picked Ubuntu. It load and then everything went black. I panicked. I always do when installing something but I was told never to panic when installing something 'coz nothing terrible will happen. Anyway since I totally panicked I opened the cd-rom and removed the cd then reboot the pc again.Sigh.I was able to open the windo... More About: Live
What Happened This Morning
2008-01-31 10:47:00 I broke this today. I was going to put it in the water dispenser but i drop it. It was too heavy for me to carry (5 gallons). This is the first time it happened, I'd been putting this huge containers many times, well too bad today.Anyway, the container broke when i dropped it so the kitchen was just full of water and I had to drain it. OMG! Anyway, I did finish removing all those water in the kitchen floor.LESSON: I'll never put water again in that water dispenser because if I drop it, it would take me an hour or more just to clean the floor and most importantly the water container cost 250 pesos (about 5 dollars, i think). 2 Dead Birds
2008-01-30 10:52:00 I just wanna say thank you to everyone who gave their advice to me. Thank you all because it help me a lot.About the job: I called them today and the job offer for a substitute teacher is still on so I went to the school and they gave me the forms that I needed to get the job. The principal is going to send the recommendation to the District office and hopefully I do get it. It's just for a month but this is a great opportunity for me.Anyway, for today's post. I'm going to write about 2 birds who happens to have the same fate, death. Poor creatures, I'm not viewing their death as bad luck.1st bird. My parents have 3 pet birds and 2 of them were the same kind so that left the other one aloof from them. And today this is what happened. I'm not sure if this is because they weren't fed or if it's the hostility of the other birds (my mom said it was because of the two other birds).Poor thing! I guess he's (or she's) in a much better condition now.2nd Bird. Then this one. I just s... More About: Birds , Dead
Depressed
2008-01-29 16:40:00 I feel like a 40 year old woman today who is jobless for 20 years. It's not because of the contemplation thing but because of a phone call. I got a phone call yesterday from the principal of a public elementary school in our town. He asked me if I'm available to substitute for one month and I said yes. And then he told me if I have my NBI Clearance, which I do have. I got the feeling that I'm gonna get the job until he asked me about my license. I told him I don't have it yet but I'm about to.Panic. Panic.Apparently I have to have a proof. I told him that I have a clipping but that wasn't enough. Then he said he'll call back and ask the district office. After a couple of minutes he did call back. He asked me if I can get my license in Feb. 4 for sure. I told him I'm not sure but they did say after months of registration we can get our license. And it's been 2 months already.Well it's a government office so the 2 months is uncertain. So that's the end of it. The just slippe... More About: Depressed
Miracles and Ramblings
2008-01-26 05:20:00 Do you believe in miracles? As for me, I'm not sure if I do. I mean there are some instances that it's true but most of them are just a complete lie. And it's just hard to believe them. There are a lot of faith healers, witch doctors and so-called God-send people who claims they can cure a cancer patient and so-so with the aid of a saint, the virgin Mary and Christ. It had also been revealed by some tv shows that some of it ain't true and it's a hoax.I bet they're getting a lot of donations from what they are doing since there are also a lot of people who buy this healing..whatever.When it comes to religion I'm always in doubt which is which and what is true. I've never read the bible but I do know what Jesus did. I also believe on the power of people to create stories. Stories which are so good that one may not doubt a single thing in it.When I was chatting on MySpace my chat pal asked me if we made up God?(My Answer)...Ahhh...sure we did, weren't people from the past who pr... Why Are Books So Expensive?
2008-01-24 10:45:00 I was at the mall earlier to buy books. There are 2 bookstores in SM City Sta. Rosa as far as I know, BookSale and National Books tore. What did I find in BookSale? Trash...omg...and those books are way too expensive for secondhand books. Their management should at least differentiate between books than can sell for more money and which shouldn't. The other day I bought NOT FOR OURSELVES ALONE by Geoffrey Ward and Kenneth Burns for 25 pesos! It's hardbound and in perfect condition. The book was about Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony...and it was 25 pesos???! It could sell more than that. And then today I saw the Kate Chopin book again, The Awakening. The damn thing cost 35 pesos! and it was torn and well it just looks terrible...*sigh* 35 pesos?!Well, I didn't buy any book at that store...it was just all trash. I hope they'll sell better stuff next time!I really need to buy a book at that moment (Damn! I was totally depress and nothing can make me feel better than books!...
Not Another Post About Commercials.
2008-01-23 04:31:00 The other day I was watching the primetime news and a certain news about advertising condoms on local tv's was an issue. And I just have to talk about it.A group of NGO's were complaining that these commercials are exposed to children's viewing and it's not good for them, something like that. They were particularly against the airing of the FRENZY condoms commercial.I've actually been seeing that commercial for years now on tv. When we had cable a couple of years ago they showed the Frenzy commercial on MTV. And well I don't care about the commercial really but I have memorized the actor's line in the commercial..."Banana!""No! What about orange?"Anyway, they were saying that's it's really bad for the kids to see this frenzy commercial. I can't find the frenzy commercial that they show here but I found one frenzy commercial on youtube that I saw last year. The one they air here was like just play stuff and the condom was like a candy with different flavors. 2008-01-21 02:26:00 I just found myself earlier singing the WOULDN'T IT BE NICE SONG from the Cadbury commercial and it really sounds catchy but only thing I can remember from the song is "Wouldn't it be nice if the world was cadbury...". I just sang that 20 times earlier. I found this video on youtube:I just love cadbury! Really...wouldn't it be nice if the world is cadbury?Damn Right it will be!And have you ever seen the new motorola razr2 phone which is like super thin that it cuts the actors clothes in the commercial. Housekeeping, Treasures and Reminiscence (Part II)
2008-01-19 07:14:00 I found these on some of my college photocopied materials and papers. This were my projects in my History of Oceania subject. He must've trust me enough to do the project. We were all asked to do a travel brochure for a specific country that we were assigned to do. Luckily the country we're going to do was NEW ZEALAND! 2008-01-18 10:15:00 Warning: Some information about the entertainment stuff in this post may or may not be true.Once in a while when I feel like cleaning my room I saw things like tickets, pens, key chains, papers, notes , valentines note, letters, and a lot of other things. I'm not sure why they're there, I must've save them at one point when I 'm not sure what to do with them or where to put them. They're sort of like trash, as some people may call it. You can download plug-ins in the internet which I did a couple of hours ago. Me?? A Foreigner??!
2008-01-15 15:04:00 This is a weird day indeed. Why?I applied for a job today. And I actually stayed at the school were I was applying because I was expected to do a demonstration teaching in less than 2 hours. While I was at the library a lot of students were around me and since it's a "SPEAK ENGLISH ALL THE TIME SCHOOL" they started speaking to me in english and I would answer back in english. Then the kids left and then they came back again. One kid said to be: "Ma'am, are you a foreigner?"Aha! An insult! I get that all the time, I was thinking that they are thinking I'm from Africa because of the color of my skin. Back in my school days my classmates call me negra, those pesky kids! "Is it my skin color?' I asked."No, dahil po ang galing n'yong mag-ingles kanina ng kausap n'yo si Rodjin," the girl said. It means, No, because your english was great when you were talking to Rodjin (something like that). What?! It is? I told them they must've been mistaken. I should've told all of them that ... Job Searching
2008-01-11 10:54:00 I've been looking for a job on-line for a long...long...long...long time and I also did ask a couple of people around town if they know a job for a history teacher.Apparently what's in need these days in the Philippines are call center agents and ESL teachers. Job websites like jobstreet.com and jobsdb.com have a lot of job post for call center agents and ESL teacher. I once applied as an ESL teacher. I got through the 1st phase of the interview but failed the second one, I spoke terribly in english especially when I get nervous. Well it's okay. Once the whole mechanics of teaching via phone was explained to me I just didn't like it. I think the teaching session only last for 20 minutes or less and the teacher and the student have their own separate books or manuals that they will be following. I just don't get the idea how someone can learn that way. Well the company will be earning a lot of money anyway so who cares. Ridiculous! Ridiculous! Ridiculous!Anyway, I wrote about cr... The Feast of the Black Nazarene
2008-01-09 11:51:00 Today we are celebrating the Feast of the Black Nazarene. The center of the celebration is held in Quiapo, Manila. It was amazing! I just have to blog about this. Seeing the procession just give me the chills. Here's a video I found in youtube but this one was 2 years ago. I'm assuring you people that the number of people in this video is more or less the same this year (at least 2.6 million people joined the procession)Why do people do this? Faith. Well you can just read it on Wikipedia. All I know is that it's miraculous.I've actually touched the foot of the Black Nazarene twice and made a wish that I'll pass the Licensure Exam (which I did pass!). Of course, not in that messy way.The Black Nazarene procession for the year of 2008 was proclaimed as peaceful, 2 people died and many others injured.
Let's Speak English
2008-01-08 02:37:00 I'm not sure what the department of education is doing these days. I'm not sure either what kind of education are kids getting these days. There's one thing I want to share to all of you and that is the "This is an english seaking school" policy of some, if not all, public schools in the country. I talked to a teacher yesterday (I was applying, I finally had the guts to do it) and there was one point in our conversation where we talked about their school system (it's a science high school). Apparently, they are imposing an all english curriculum. All the subjects were taught in english, except in Filipino but the teacher said that sometimes they also use english to teach Filipino, wtf. I hope she didn't say that just to impress me because that's definitely not impressive, it's upsetting.I know the government is very concerned about the proficiency of Filipinos in the English language but come on! Do they ever thought about Filipinos being a stranger or dumb in their own langua... More About: Speak

Web on the Issue of Marriage
2008-01-02 15:18:00 I'm not writing this post because I'm getting married or I'm planning to get married soon. I'm writing this because someone reminded me how lucky I am that I'm single, not that there's anything wrong with being married (it is a good thing but not always).I've been helping my mom in her store for a couple of days now since her helper went on a Christmas vacation which was suppose to last for only 2 days but she hasn't come back yet. Why? When she came home her mother immediately asked her where her money is. That's terrible considering her mother already swore that she's not her daughter anymore. The mother who sided with her idiotic thieve of a sister, her sister used to be my mom's helper but then we found out she was stealing money from my father and stealing junk foods and cigarettes in my mom's store, probably to go with the rum she's keeping in her closet. My New Year

I guess it's because during December the temperature becomes so cold (like 22 degrees Celcius).Last night I was sick and I can't keep my thoughts together so there wasn't any post. Then I started watching a Korean movie, LOVE ME NOT with Moon Geun-young (not sure of the spelling). Not so good. I can't believe I finished the whole movie. I should've gone dancing at my grandmother's house with my cousins. That was more fun. We did go there after the movie was done and I did manage to dance a bit. Then those really loud firecrackers kept being lit and they exploded and then the CD player stopped. Man! That was some cheap CD player it kept stopping my uncle should really get a new one. Apparently the videos I took was just oh so lame so I can't show it to all of you. I should really get a DV camera. And because of that video I... 1, 2, 3, 4 |
