Why Blog Why Read - You Choose Your Own Side
2008-02-11 20:41:00
I heard a few years ago an opinion to why blogging started, then grew so rapidly. This analyst’s opinion was as follows: post Sept 11, the media was focused on content the people did not agree with. Because the population felt they weren’t getting an unbias view, the blogging counter-culture was born. I for ...

PicLens Addon For Mozilla Is Too Sweet For Words
2008-02-09 09:00:00
PicLens by Cooliris, lets you browse pictures like never before. It completely changes the user experience. I will not even attempt to describe the experience for whatever I say cannot do it justice. I saw a friend using it and my jaw literally dropped. I immediately walked to my computer and added ...

Blarguments VS Single-Ply Toilet Paper
2008-02-08 00:17:00
Everyone has their own butt-wiping strategy. Personally, I don’t like my finger to touch my butt or poo. I don’t understand the deal here. If the TP is too thin, we just use more. Except the single-ply is so rough it hurts the butt. I understand the train-of-thought though: “I own a store ...

Blarguments VS Non-Voters
2008-02-05 23:04:00
I live in California, and today is the presidential primaries. I went out and voted, and so should you (if you live in California). I’ve heard it all before — “my vote is worthless,” “it doesn’t matter anyway,” “its so insignificant why do it?” “I don’t have time,” etc. Well, we ...

Why Bamboo is a Great Plant for Reducing Carbon
2008-02-03 07:06:00
Guest Blargued by: Eva See the original post at Eco-hacks to comment. Did you know that bamboo is the one living thing that has witnessed and survived the Hiroshima atomic blast from very close quarters? It also provided the first re-greening of Hiroshima after the bombing. Speaks volumes about how hardy the plant is to have survived ...

Guest Blargued by: Bendever Gerona I was once reprimanded by my college instructor, who happens to be a Catholic priest, cause I kept addressing him as “sir” while everybody else in the class calls him “father”. He was so furious and accused me of disrespecting his “status” that he threatened to fail me in his class. In ...
Thanks For Proving My Point, Sam Freedom.
2008-01-26 02:44:00
Guest Blargued by: Beth View the original post and comments click here. Thank You For Proving My Point , Sam Freedom . I have no problem with criticism, in fact I welcome it, because it not only improves my blog to suit my tastes, but my readers’ as well. Most of you who visit from EntreCard.com know I am completely against “chain dropping,” because I feel it negates the entire reason for using the service-to find new blogs and network. I recently posted the Drop Your Card Meme, With A Twist. No one seemed to have an issue with the fact I did not link back to the “originator” of the meme, due to my dislike of the way in which he encourages chain dropping and, in my opinion, outright rude behavior towards other bloggers. He proved my point with two comments. Hey, glad you found the meme. Even if your skin is thinner a frog’s, it’s nice to know that something I created has been able to benefit both you, those you’ve tagged, those who&rs...
Stay At Home Moms Dangerous?
2008-01-24 20:40:00
Guest Blargued by: Lisa Yes, I am a stay at home mom. My husband and I chose this for many reasons. First, daycare is expensive here in Chicago. I would be working to pay for daycare. Second, my salary would put us in the next tax bracket. We would be taxed more if I went to work. We also decided that we wanted one of us raising our kids — not a daycare worker. Yes, I have a college degree. However, I will still have that degree once my kids are in school. I do not look down upon people who put their kids in daycare. However, I don’t get what gives others the right to do it to me. What really gets me going is that the feminist movement considers my choice dangerous. Why? According to Gretchen Ritter, stay at home moms are “dangerous subversives and a plague on society.” Who is Gretchen Ritter? She is the director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Texas and as associate professor of government and women’s studies. She also ...

4 Reasons You Should Be Writing a Weight Loss Blog
2008-01-21 07:28:00
Guest Blargued By: John, see the original post here to comment. Whether you are looking to lose that “Freshman Fifteen” or are in the 100+ Pounds-to-Go Club you should be writing a weight loss blog as a critical component of your weight loss plan. A weight loss blog is not a food journal or a food diary. Keeping a food journal can also be important and in fact will most likely be suggested to you by your doctor or dietician. A food journal is where you log your daily meals and snacks. It is where you account for all the calories you ingest. It can be important, especially at the start of a diet, because most people underestimate the amount of food they actually eat in a day. A well kept food journal will help the dieter properly plan their intake so as to lose weight. A weight loss blog is much more than a food journal. A good weight loss blog deals much more with the emotional aspects of eating, exercising and getting fit. It is the human interest side of the story. These are...

Coding Training From Age 7
2008-01-20 03:54:00
Long ago, I had a love/hate relationship with Waldo. I hated him because he always got lost in the most random situations, then I liked him because I felt so accomplished after finding him. Then, to make things even harder we would have to find his lost books or whatever he had with him. What a clutz! Little did I know in all those picture hunts I was practicing for my future. As I’m a little noob programmer, the code doesn’t exactly lift off the screen like it does for some. It seems like I play “find the missing semi-colon” (or whatever else) all too often. Sure, even the industry’s top programmers aren’t even exempt from this game – except they likely have peons to do it for them… This occurred to me Regardless, I never would have thought a book without words could have proven so useful. If you have young kids, and you want them to be tech savvy, give them a Wheres Waldo book. It’ll pay for itself in 20 years, I promise.

Scrabulous VS Mattel/Hasbro
2008-01-17 23:32:00
Hasbro and Mattel both own the license to Scrabble in the marketplace. Both parties have invested significant resources over time to develop the Scrabble brand we all know, play, and love. The controversy now is that a web startup, not even a startup but just a Facebook App, Scrabulous is stealing the limelight ...

Blarguments VS Social Norm: Email Rules
2008-01-16 00:37:00
We’ve all heard and said, “what happened, didn’t you check your email?” As if I was sending the email straight to your frontal lobe. Long ago I received no more than a few emails per day — so there was no problem. Years later, I receive over a hundred messages sorted through a number of addresses and forwarding boxes. Reading them all is no longer possible. Society has come to rely on email as a dependable form of communication. Yes, I check my email often, usually a number of times per day — but that only means I’ll scan the subject lines of my inbox. I rarely check the spam and junk folders, and if the email starts with a “FW:” (or some other subject like that, eg. vacation, lottery, add friend/group, myspace message, etc…) I’ll skip it for later. This transformation occurred simultaneously with cellphones. Years ago, I had some ancient technology called a Pager. It was an often unreliable one way communica...

Internet Piracy Isn?t All Evil

I stumbled across this article a while back. The producer an independent film called ?Jerome Bixby?s The Man From Earth,? wrote a letter to rlslog.net, thanking them for pirating his movie. Because of digital pirates, his movie became extremely popular, and even made it to the top of Amazon. So I thought ...

The Innocence Project Prevails Again
2008-01-11 22:01:00
The Innocence Project is an organization devoted to freeing innocent prisoners. I can think of no injustice greater than to be unjustly imprisoned. This is one of the most noble causes I have ever come across. Just recently, they fought to release a Texas man named Charles Chatman after being in jail for 26 ...
South Carolina Republican GOP Debate, Appalling
2008-01-11 05:25:00
I watched the Republican debate tonight on the notoriously biased FOX news. Now I feel sick. I feel like throwing up all over this country. They asked probing political discussions to most of the candidates, to which they all answered with their own rehearsed unrelated answers. Lastly, they asked Ron Paul, ...

Give Your Site Some iCrack - With Entrecard
2008-01-09 19:22:00
Entrecard does a great job bringing unique traffic to your site. Many other bloggers compare it to blogrush, and how its far superior. I’ve personally never used blogrush (and won’t because of the negative reviews) so I can’t make that comparison. In only two months Entrecard has grown well over 6000 users ...

Internet Money- The Wild Goose Chase
2008-01-04 03:23:00
The internet is home to countless people claiming they know how to make it big on the internet. I’ve concluded that more people falsely claim to make money online than look at porn. Or at least it seems that way. Since the birth of the web, I can remember porn sparsely scattered ...

Star Trek Is Now- Tuvok to Janeway In 2008
2007-12-27 23:37:00
I was watching some classic Star Trek Voyager this morning, reminiscing about being 14 again.  As I was doing my usual dreaming of going warp 9 and using teleporters for the 20 giga-quad data stream matrix…. Tuvok contacted Janeway with his com-badge, and I realized that wasn’t too far from reality. I was playing with my ...

Come On MEN- We?ve Been Peeing Our Whole Lives
