South Indian History - Through One Perspective

When I went home last time, I found this book lying around. It was actually a temple festival book. It was talking about the role of our community in south Indian history. I was not interested in that, what interested me was that in doing so they had actually captured the events of south Indian history. I found so much information that I never found else where. One interesting thing is that, they have given references to the stone tablets that contain that information. They attempt to describe the events based on Stone Tablets, Folk Songs etc. The events chronicled are intriguing. read more

I had to go to Coimbatore for some personal work last Monday, so poornima suggested that we take off to Ooty the weekend and then go to Coimbatore from there. That sounded neat. So we set off to Ooty on Saturday in the morning at around 10. We took the Mysore route went through Gundlupet, Bandipur, and Mudumalai and took the short cut route to Ooty via Masinagudi. It was an awesome drive; especially the short cut route to Ooty was great. It had around 38 hair pin bends within a span of 15 KM. The base of the hill was around 960 meters above sea level (MSL) and when we finished the final hair pin bend we were at around 1500 MSL that too in 15 minutes. We reached Ooty by around 4 in the evening. Checked in to the room, there was huge crowd due to the weekend and summer. We just drove around the city. Turned 29 today. Twenty eight ran very quickly(probably due to marriage :-)) I had to take out the dojo based menus due to performance issues. Since dojo loads the js files when required using the eval function, it eats up a lot of CPU. When there are a lot of packages to load it just freezes the browser for a while. We faced the same problem with MoneyCenter also. We switched over to js object caching instead to tackle the problem. I have switched over to the Yahoo UI Library instead, this works pretty good.

Ajit - Wishing you a merry christmas and a very happy new year dude. Just got back from poornima's place. Since my brothers and cousin had not seen her, we had gone to her place. My mom was here whole of last week, we had some pretty good food :-) in return she burnt a neat hole in my wallet :-((. I have successfully moved into the final semester of my MS correspondance with BITS. This semester i have dissertation, i had to write the project outline and send it along with the semester registration card. The last date is 24th Dec. Natarajan - my mentor helped me with the it. I will add the project outline document to the site once it is approved by the university. Last week was hectic, since we are in the FSD phase; long meetings have become a routine. Peter will be with us starting next week, i have to give the Application Framework demo to him also. I am not ready with the AJAX prototype and the WebFlow prototype. I could not concentrate much on the prototype ...

I have added link blog sections to the site. I will be adding links to posts that intrigue me. I am using SharpReader as my RSS Aggregator. I went through its docs; it supports custom plugins. I will write a plugin to link the posts directly to my site Last friday i gave the demo of 7.0 Application UI Framework to the platform and the oncenter team. Though there is still lot of work to be done, it has come out very well so far. I am giving a demo to schwark tommorrow. I need to start work on the AJAX library integration and the wizard page framework. This weekend was uneventful; i had to reinstall XP on my laptop, so the whole of saturday was spent on installing the OS, applying the patches and setting up my development environment. Sunday i had to go to office to take an interview. After a long time i had lunch at Casa Picola, myself and Imran had nice grilled fish there :-)

My hosting provider has announed that they are giving free access to componentone's WebMenu controls for asp.net, i thought of integrating that with the site but it is not registering properly in my IDE. So i have just added a new theme. I will fix the menu stuff by tommorrow. Also today was the offical confirmation of my engagement with poornima. My parents along with my uncles, aunties and friends had been to her house to confirm. I also made first contact successfully :-D The ICICIBank people made me run around, they complained that the signature on the pre EMI cheques i had given were a mismatch and told me to get fresh cheques. I had to rush back home to get the cheques, i then went to meet the ICICI Home Loan guys at their office; by the that time they had already sent a person to meet me at my office. Pricey Secondhands

We had been to sangeeth's marriage on November 20 to dindigul. Myself, Imran and Pranav had gone together. The marriage was early in the morning; it was good. We had some nice food too! After the marriage we left for Palani by 10 in the morning. Reached home in the after noon, had lunch, went around the farm and the left for Erode by 2 in the afternoon. We caught the bangalore train at 7:45 at erode, it reached bangalore at 10:30 in the night. I still have to update sangeeth's marriage snaps. Imran is biting my head for the snaps :-D. This week dad was here to check on the progress of the houses and also to get a second hand Maruti. Though i have had a 4 wheeler license since 1998, i didnot see any need to have a 4 wheeler up until now. I wanted to kind of be prepared before the marriage. We were hoping to get one for some 80K. But the price of a 2000 model Maruthi 800 is almost 1.30 lakhs :-((. The new one is just another lakh more. So we kind of dropped the idea...

ASP.NET 2.0

Could not update in a while as i was migrating the code base to ASP.NET 2.0. Now the site running on ASP.NET 2.0. I am using VS2005 RC, to tell you this IDE is by far the best i have ever used. The IDE is worth the wait. They have added a lot of functionalities. I love the Master pages and also the Repeater controls :-). I just precompiled my entire webpage and deployed it onto my hosting server and boom it started working on the first go it self.

Another Hectic Week

Last week was hectic as usual. Had to go home for diwali holidays. Diwali was uneventful, but the day after myself and sivan sir left for chennai to see the first ever alliance proposal that went past my parents and came to me. Will post more details about it, when the time comes. I then returned to bangalore from there. Friday was full of meetings, I barely had a couple of hours to do some coding. On top of this i had to take an interview also. That evening myself, Gaja and Alex went for the newly released Sivakasi :-(( the movie was pathetic. The movie got over at around 12:30 in the night. I then went back to office to fix the SEI Advisor Admin Upload Issue. By the time i was done with the fix it was 4:30 in the morning. I then got back home, woke up Gaja; as we were leaving for Bandipur with Erik. As usual we were late, we were supposed to leave Bangalore by 6:00 in the morning, instead we left at around 7:30. MVP Q3-2005

We had our all hands meeting today and it was attended by our Board of Directors too. We had some pretty good presentations. I also got a pleasant surprise :-). I was awarded MVP Q3-2005. . I was working on the JSP Pre Compilation UI today, damn Swing has improved a lot in JDK 1.5. The application loads and responds very quickly.

Kudajadri Trip Updates

Another update after long time. Myself, Gajendran and Hari went to Kudajadri this weekend. It was an awesome trip. We went through Mangalore, Udupi and Kollur. We kept gaja's accent at Kollur and left on a jeep to Kudajadri. It was about 35 kms from there. The last 12 kms of the journey was amazing. There was no road; all that there was were large stone boulders; the jeep was literlly climbing over them. Kudajadri is an amazing place. Next time i will for sure camp there. We stayed at an Inspection Bungalow up in Kudajadri, it had nice beds and a good bathroom. Had some nice dinner at a near by house and did some star gazing before going to bed. The next morning we got up early by 5:00AM and did a mini trek around the hilltop. Got ready prayed at the Moola Mookambika Temple there and started back on the jeep. Reached Kollur; prayed at Mookambika Temple, had breakfast and left for Udupi. We reached Udupi in the afternoon, prayed at the Udupi Krishna Temple; had the free lunch and s...

Wish you all a very Happy and a prosperous New Year This weekend was fun, My to-be father-in-law has lent me his Maruti 800. Our driver drove the vehicle here. He stayed with us helping me to adapt to the driving conditions of the city.On saturday i drove till hosur and back, went around bangalore via the outer ring road. On sunday i drove through the crowded airport road till marthahalli and drove back in the night through the same route. Driving is ok; requires one to be alert all the time. I would kind of prefer to be sleeping at the back :-D

Four wheeler experience

I am getting used to driving the car around the city. During the first drive; myself and kutti took the car on hosur road, on our way back i lost concentration for a second and that resulted in :-D. After that i have kind of improved :-)). I went home for pongal and tried my hands on the Indigo, i drove it on the Kodaikanal road and kind of got used to the traffic Also took delivery of Ascent CRDi last friday, the car is awesome. Our driver took the car to palani the same day, he started from bangalore at 1:30 PM and reached home by 8:00 PM; he clocked almost 130 KM/hr :-D. Marriage preparations are going at full swing back home. I went to coimbatore last week to for the "Uppu Mathal" ceremony.Poornima also had come down to coimbatore. The same day we bought cloths and jewellery. I have also started distributing the invitation cards.

Finally got everything back online.Fixed the RSS Feed - Added an Atom Feed also :-) Got back the galleries If you are using IE 7.0 or FF 2.0, it should show that the pages have a feed option also, so that you can directly subscribe through it.

So Long Yodlee

After almost 4 years in Yodlee i have decided to move on and today is my last day at Yodlee. It was amazing working at Yodlee, i learnt as much as i could and contributed as much i could. Being there from 5.x,6.x and 7.x i see the tremendous progress we have made. I am proud to be part of the team. The products are awesome and will sure have an impact in the market. I wish the very best to the team and thanks again for giving me an opportunity to work there.

Restored the photo's

Saturday night i restored the photo galleries, i am using the Simple Viewer to render the images. It is simple and has a nice little template to integrate with Picasa. I have also removed the Tree View based navigation for Drop-Down menu.

Awesome Movie

Just got back from the theatre. Wanted to pour it out before it fades into reality. Finally somebody made a movie :-)) (CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP) - "Rang De Basanti". Barring The Matrix trilogy, i never sat through a movie without loosing concentration till the end. It happened today. What a movie! Hats off to the director. A movie needs to take the viewer into it; the viewer should never get the feeling that he or she is watching a movie. They should live through as a transparent entity in the system. The director brilliantly brought the present reality and the past together into the storyline. And the way they were mixed was simply amazing. The narrator says one gets pushed so hard that he or she forgets fear, is that a biological response? Will it happen to anyone? ... I am already due on the Mid Semester Report :-((, Need to get back on it.

Team Outing

Last monday we had been to Wonderla on a team outing (Pictures). It was fun, i didnot want to risk any rides though :-D To conserve your network load i have not autostarted the video playback, press play button if you want to watch the video. Download Video Me and Anand went for the laser show instead, it was awesome. I took a video of that too, but the audio quality is not good. I will clean it and then put it up. I have also updated the Pongal Holidays Snaps. After 2 attempts this year only the sugarcane has comeout well :-)) . I drove the Indigo upto the 2 hair-pin bend on Kodaikanal road. Due to heavy rains this year both the dams near my place are full. This place is just awesome .
