This Fuck Off and Die Thursday is about Child ren . You think, those assholes under the age of 18 and are under the control of ignorant adults above the age of 18. Children suck and it stands to reason. They are raised by members of the human race - and the human race sucks. I hate children. I hated children when I was a child. It comes with the territory of hating the human race. But I don’t think I have the character to raise children. Hell, I don’t have the character to babysit. Microsoft is heading up the creek

With Vista’s release, some have to wonder if Micro soft is really going to survive the uphill battle it is fighting. Microsoft has already decided to paddle down shit creek and bring it’s own doom. It has repeated the same mistakes that you have seen in previous versions of Windows, plus added several more mistakes so people can point and laugh at the corporate giant that just loves to cut itself. Oh Snap.com!

Thanks to the help of Binary Bonsai and Kottke, I have finally found the way to disable Snap .com previews on web pages. I have done this for all my browsers in Mac OS X and I will do it on my Windows partition whenever I boot into it next. I can’t wait because those Snap.com previews are so FUCKING annoying. (more…)

A dream?

Last night, I had a dream. I dreamt beyond the vale of human consciousness and into a state where I could see my fondest desires. In other words, I could see what I wanted in life right then and there. And I was here. Still in Calgary. Still living in my basement suite in the Ranchlands. And this was in the not too distant future. I was walking down the street to head to 7-Eleven when this cute geek girl comes up to me and asks me to help her find her friend. She is holding some chinese food in her hand and I look. Apparently, the NAPA auto parts store is now a Chinese food place now. (more…)

Otaku Dating Advice

I just got an en masse e-mail from the Dedicated Otaku Anime President as soon as I woke up today. Appearantly, there are problems with a few of the male members of the club harassing other members. In addition, this may very well spread to the club’s annual anime festival, Otafest. While I know that logically, my actions were not the ones that spurred this e-mail, I can’t help but think maybe my desire to find the person I am destined to be with is overriding my motives and intentions. And then I thought that I am probably not the only person with this problem. There are many otaku males out there that cannot seem to get a date and I happen to be one of them. I never thought I’d say this again but I want a console game. Congratulations universe, you win. Oh, but it’s not just a console game. It’s a cute japanese dating sim called The Idol m@ster and it’s available only on the Xbox 360. It gets worse, because it’s not only available solely for the Xbox 360, but in addition, it’s locked to the NTSC/J (Japan) region. This means, I’d have to buy a Japanese Xbox 360 to play it. So, in order to play it, I’d have to spend around $380 USD, and that does not even include the duties I would have to pay to Canadian Customs nor does it include the duties I would have to pay to the US customs in the event that I have to be sent back to the United States. Software Review: SDP Downloader 2.3.0

While I strongly dislike booting into Windows via Boot Camp or using Parallels by virtue of being a Mac purist, I have found a great software programme while I was a Windows fanboy and I want to share that with you now. It is called SDP Download er and it allows you to download content from a MMS stream. For the uninitiated, a MMS stream is a content streaming format commonly used by Windows Media Player and was developed by Microsoft. The SDP Multimedia website is dedicated to deciphering the mystery behind MMS and allowing developers easier access to information about the protocol. (more…)

Writer?s Block Sucks!

So, a couple of days ago, I was suffering from a major case of writer’s block. It happens. Sometimes, I get a lot of ideas for subjects and I start them out and save them as drafts or what not in WordPress. You’ve probably noticed this if you pay attention to the URL numbering in my blog in comparison to my blog’s content. I am very happy that Grava tar 2.0 is going to be coming out again this month. I am impressed that there is now going to be an integrated cropping system for larger images. I am very happy that I will be getting in on the private beta soon. And I am EXCEEDINGLY happy that Gravatars can now be dynamically changed by outside programmes and rated by the users. I am working on a new film and yes, I am going to be working with some friends of mine to help make it. While I am still looking for a publisher for the book, I have decided to produce the film with Brave New Films, considering their films about bigger evils like Wal-Mart and Fox News. I am going to try to talk with the people at Chapters and at FMV to stock the books and DVDs (respectively), considering that this is a HUGE threat in Canada and abroad. (more…)

I want Furniture!

Okay, I want furniture for my room. I have a place to put my clothes and a select amount of books but I have no desk, no shelves and very little window space. I am working to clean up my living space and unfortunately, it is hard when the only means of storage you have are the two boxes you have lying around your room from when you moved from your crappier place. I searched Craigslist and found some free bookcases that I might be able to have so I can sort my anime and manga collection. But I still would like other pieces of furniture and not only that, but I think it would make Shush pretty happy to have everything cleared for the inspector form the city. (more…)

Now that I have secured the name - I can announce my secret project. Yes, 15art.com was my secret project that I am talking about and it is still under development. It is a my personal portfolio and also includes programmes and plugins I have made - as well as a design portfolio, a manga style sketchbook, a couple of manga series that I have been wanting to do and it integrates with content on my blog here. Is 9rules losing it?s quality?

9rules is starting to lose much of it’s quality. I am not bitter that I was not accepted in the 5th round. In fact, I was kind of afraid of saying something considering that it might hurt my chances of acceptance in round 6. But fortunately, another 9rules member has stated that they feel their quality slipping as well. But I think some of the new sites (such as Karoshi) deserve to be in 9rules and I feel their addition is a boon to the network. (more…)

Shaun Inman released Mint 2 and it looks GREAT! But there is a small problem - you have to pay to upgrade to Mint 2. In fact, you have to pay $19USD per licence and that can get to be pretty expensive if you own a large amount of licences. In fact, I will have to pay $95USD more to upgrade all of my licences to Mint 2. In fact, I really want to update all my licences to Mint 2 but I really only need 3 upgrades now. One for this site and one for my new project (coming soon) and one for theanime.net (yes, it’s going to launch soon - very soon). (more…)

So, I have been asked sometimes where I am going in my life or what do I want to accomplish? While a definitive list is not possible at this time, I’ve created an account at 43 things and, by default, that created an account at all of it’s subsites. So, I decided to start working on my portfolios at a couple of the sites. Like at all consuming, 43 people and 43 places. I also added my blog’s RSS feed for good measure. Have you been wondering why Blackthorne has been taking so long? Why has it been taking so long to get one little programme to work like it should? Well, Blackthorne is not just a theme but it is a part of a bigger project that I have going on. I can’t tell anyone (no, not even the cute girl I am interested in) all the details of my new project but I assure you, it’s dynamite! In fact, it may very well be the biggest project I have ever done and I will be so happy if I can make it work out. Someone stole my copy of Onegai Teacher Vol. 2!

I was grocery shopping for the week near Dalhousie station and I had to purchase a lot of things to survive the week. I know that I had Vol. 2 when I arrived at Dalhousie, because I was reading it on the bus. And I know that some asshole now has it and that really makes me angry. I am not completely pissed since I still have Volume 1 and I can probably track another copy of Volume 2 down at another store or at Words & Pictures (probably). However, I don’t want to wait forever to get just one copy of Onegai Teac her . It usually takes well over 3 months for ANYTHING to come in at Words & Pictures. Come to think of it, where are the rest of my Love Hina DVDs? (more…)

I still have relations in California. My uncle James Richardson and my aunt Lori Korleski-Richardson are a couple of the few family members that I enjoy speaking with. However, at times, their advice can suggest things that are not in my best interest. Or covertly condescending and rude. Upgrading to WordPress 2.1

WordPress 2.1 is the latest stable release and I am upgrading to it right now. Yes, that means that I am going to be disabling all my plugins except Akismet simply due to the fact that they are probably not compatible with WordPress 2.1 yet. Completing the necessary code updates to all these plugins is the first step to making Blackthorne work with WordPress. The design is done and screenshots will be provided shortly. However, what comes first is updating WordPress so that nasty little spammers like Matt won’t worm their way into my blog. Oh, and commentors, I am going to be working on a plugin that requires that you submit a valid e-mail address in order for your comment to be approved. Hopefully, this will cut down on the false e-mail addresses and spam.

WordPress 2.1 unmet expectations

I expected a lot from the Word Press 2.1 release. I expected a larger base of compatibility with my existing plugins. I expected Shuttle! And of course, the WordPress programme needs a facelift and I am getting too impatient to wait for Matt to integrate the Shuttle project into the official WordPress releases. I think Blackthorne is going to have to include a release for the WordPress Admin Control Centre. It is going to be a project based on the beautification of the WordPress Administration Control Centre. Of course, this will not run alongside the official release of Blackthorne and it will be made public. (more…)

I MISS hot showers

When I moved here, I thought I would be able to take a little longer hot showers. I used to be able to take a lot of long hot showers, well, until my father started being an ass wipe and cut off the water halfway into the shower. But hot showers are one of the very few luxuries I used to enjoy back in the states. Howe ver, at the Rehn’s basement sweet and at Shush’s basement suite, hot water isn’t exactly that plentiful. This is even more so at Shush’s place but the justification for that is simply that I share my basement suite and a water heater with 4 others, not including myself. We all also share a bathroom so this creates a large amount of conflict. So, yes. That’s one of the things I miss here in Calgary.

WordPress Administration: Blackthorne Style

We all have IRL friends that use some kind of shitty blogging system. This could be LiveJournal (or rather, anything by SixApart), Blogger, Xanga, b2 or even worse - MySpace blogs. When I talk to friends about Word Press and even how easy it is to set up a WordPress.com blog, there is one concern that they express. It is a valid concern so it kind of shuts me up, but shames me as well. This concern is usability and I see their reasoning behind it. WordPress’ Administration Control Centre is nice, but it could be better. So, it is time to make WordPress even more usable. This also renders the question - what IS Black thorne? I love slurpees!

Yesterday, I went down to the Bottle Depot in Crowfoot and cashed in all my soda bottles. Fortunately, I recieved just enough money to pay for a slurpee at the 7-Eleven in the Ranchlands. That is a rare treat for a couple of reasons. Mainly because I believe that purchasing soft drinks is much cheaper and I feel that I shouldn’t have too much of them due to the fact that it will become like other junk food items. I am not too big a fan of potato chips anymore and I am not a big fan of many items of junk food. However, I still LOVE fast food and I always have a craving for fries and Timbits. (more…)

There are many people who use Black thorne as a name and I know that while my name isn’t that special, I am happy that my blog has the only theme that is called Blackthorne. And it was going to be called Greytroupe when I decided that I needed something darker. Something that conveyed more depth and brought accent to what my content is mostly about.
