:: Diyana@Work :: can be such a loser
2007-03-09 04:03:00 During the launching of Malaysia’s rfid microchip, I was in charge of kissing them media rep’s butts. The event was inaugurated by depressing Pak Dollah, Malaysia’s Prime Minister who was more interested in the durians and mangoes in the box embedded with the powerful microchip rather than the impressive rfid application itself. Cant blame em guys… watch movie drool on the pontianak, watch tennis gawked on Anna, get off to space and play traditional kiddy games.. those sorta things. Spongy in the brain or not, I still wanna get my picture taken with him so hey!! Check out this picture. You can see the whole of the half of the front of my head!! Coolness.. ::Azman@Work:: Japanese Speaking Meeting
2007-03-06 10:07:00 Just before 5.30pm…my Japan ese bosses would call me for a meeting. This happens almost everyday. They call it the “Japanese speaking” meeting because it will be conducted in the language of the raw fish eating people. As someone who doesnt understand Japanese, my main problem would not only be to understand what the discussion is all about but to actually understand WHY they even bother to invite me for such a meeting??! and to make things better, sometimes they even treat me as someone really important that just HAVE to attend it! The meeting normally takes more than 3 hours…and at times it takes a whole day. For me, I just have to sit through it. It’s an obligation without any responsibility. They do not even care what I do during the meeting. However, sometimes they can still be kind enough to ask me a simple question…”Ok ka??” or “Understand ka??” and what I do is answer “OK naa..!!” or “Hait !!..Wakarimashita”…. It doesn’t matter if I act... More About: Work , Pane , King
How to make me vomit blood and write the longest blog entry in the history
2007-03-05 19:42:00 It is strange what strange people can do to you. When my husband’s friend of 13 years confided his bizarre love story to me some three years ago, I cannot help but to be realistically honest in regards of his wretched girlfriend; that I think she is a fake. If I were to exchange the word ‘wretched’ there to something more accurately descriptive of her; it would take one whole blog entry of its own and once you read the entry; I am absolutely positive that first you will laugh your head off and then we will all vomit blood together. Let’s just say that our 31 year old very nice very good buddy started to be in a relationship with a girl he knew from Friendster without actually meeting her, only talk on the phone and chatting together on the net. Though she is in my Friendster list; I too have never met her, and only know about her from one or two times he asked me for an opinion about her. Until today; I do not even know the girl’s name except for her nickname on Friendster... More About: History , How To , Story , Write , Blog
Tips on purchasing an insurance policy
2007-03-05 16:54:00 I hate insurance agents. The best way to break our friendship is to sell to me insurance policy. What matters worst, is purchasing a policy that is really bad and bought under influenced of an insurance agent friend. That’s how I always feel before. I have now come to realize that insurance is extremely important especially now that we are living in the 21st century where uncertainty lurks at every corner. We always need some kind of back up in cases of unwanted incidents. Due to my hectic schedule, I get my quotation from the insurance company online. It saves a lot of time and much-much more convenient than making an appointment with an insurance agent. You too can be like me and click here to get more information on any types of insurance that you require. First of all, have you got your life and properties secured? If you haven’t; you definitely should check out this Insurance Portal. Whether it is your car insurance, life or home insurance; here is the best way of getting a... ::Food:: Kuih Batang Buruk Recipe
2007-03-01 07:54:00 There is a category in this website that discusses food. In some of the entries I even include recipes of the goodies that I cook, however ladies and gentlemen, they are published not because I would like to share them with you, but only because at that time I felt like blogging though I had nothing to blog about. Besides my Father in Law in the kampong is very IT savvy may he happens to view this website, I want him proud to note that the accelerating development of his son’s waistline and tummy is highly contributed by the clueless Daughter in Law in skimpy jeans’ cooking. This entry however is in a different league. I assure you that I am absolutely not kidding when I write it because Mel ( melvinnaqy@aol.com) has dropped a msg at my shoutbox requesting for the recipe of the ‘The Ugly Stick Cookie’ or more commonly known as ‘Kuih Bata ng Buruk’ except in Malay the name sounds slightly vulgar. To Mel, I found this recipe from my cookbook and I am yet to try it. Ma... More About: Food , Recipe , Tang , Reci
University Malaya Za’ba Alumni Night 2007
2007-02-26 02:17:00 Last Saturday, I was invited to Univ ersity Malay a Za’ba Alumni Night . This was the first time I’ve ever attended my former residential college’s alumni dinner…thanks to my ex-college mate, Ayoi for the invitation! He is currently Za’ba college supervisor & was also Diyana’s lecturer at the Computer Sc Faculty when she studied there in 2001-2004. It was a really nice dinner and what made it even better was most of the attendees were the notorious A-Top & B-Top gang!! During my stay in Za’ba college from 1994 ~ 1999, Za’ba was indisputable the best college in University Malaya and the only college that managed to win the overall title for both SUKMUM & Pertandingan Seni Pentas (PSP) – currently known as Festival Seni (Art Fest) - in the same year. However, due to “over” celebrating the victory during that historic year, University Malaya has decided to stop recognizing the overall trophy for both competitions in the future… A Top is actually th...
:: Happiness :: The NostrilBloom Syndrome ::
2007-02-23 17:51:00 Today I had the best kickboxing class ever. I am convinced that I have totally burn off the calories from that sinful macadamia cookie crust that I consumed yesterday as the topping on my 3 scoops of heavenly hazelnut chocolate ice cream. I am very encouraged to proceed burning the ice creams fat next Friday after my weekly visit to Famous Amos. On top of the successful fat burning endeavor, at the gym today, I was also infected with the commonly found syndrome called the Nostrilbloom Syndrome (malay – Sindrom KembangHidung) which I rarely experience except during the time my mother in law said my spaghetti sauce tasted damn good (its preego she didn’t know). It recently happened to my colleague Rena too here when we said she sounded exactly like Inul Gerudi when actually non of us know how Inul sounds like except maybe Bani caused I saw him watching her belly danced several times on youtube. But then again he had the speaker turned off completely. I still wonder why. Anyway,... More About: Rome , Happiness , The N , Ness
The Magical Plate of Chapati
2007-02-19 16:45:00 My mother came to visit us last Friday. She came with my kid sister and her three grandchildren, sons and daughter of my elder brother and sister. They are Adam and Nurin both turning 8 this year and Arash who will be 5 in October. Adam and Arash are two very naughty, adorable boys. Arash sometimes gets too obnoxious I almost cut him into pieces and bury him in the basement. I came this close to doing that until I realize that I don’t have a basement and he is actually too damn funny. When my mother went to visit my aunt at the ukm hospital , the kids got too noisy we had to leave the hospital and hang out at the nearby Mamak restaurant in Bandar Tun Razak. Everybody ordered drinks, Arash wanted a Roti Canai. It came in the nice standard steel plate with three partitions for three different kinds of gravy. Coincidently in the Mamak he always go with his parents in Penang, that plate is used for serving Chapati. “ This is not mine, I want Roti Canai” He looked around ... Life as Endangered Species
2007-02-07 11:42:04 Last whole week, I was working with our Japanese designer from the HQ. We?re working on a new product design for 29? deflection yoke (DY) for CRT TV. His name is Akio Murata and he?s the only Sony DY designer left in Japan. To me, thats nothing shocking because I?m also the one and only DY Designer left in Malaysia. That leaves just the two of us designing DY for Sony in the whole world. I really believe that WWF should have come to catch and label both of us as ?rare species?. They must put us side by side with the Panda bear before it?s too late. On top of that,WWF should take care of me a lot more because I?m a lot younger than old Murata-san. He?s already 57 years old !! I hold higher chances for survival and can live longer.hahaha.. However, I have accepted the fact that WWF does not even bother to save our species because the world nowadays loves the new hybrid called LCD. This new hybrid is not friendly with us at all in fact they eat us designers one by one in silence and wi... More About: Life , Anger , Danger , Endangered Species , Endangered
Happy 1st Anniversary to my Diyana
2007-02-06 23:42:02 Today is our first anniversary. Although our ‘Kenduri’ reception at Dewan Tabung Haji, Bayan Lepas was on 31 Jan 2006, the ‘Akad Nikah’ ceremony was actually on 30 Jan 2006. It is still fresh in my mind about that best day in my life. I woke up around 5.30am that morning because I must arrive at the mosque before 10am. It took more than 1 hour to drive from my home in Baling, Kedah to Teluk Kumbaq, Penang. Although waking up st 5.30am sounds difficult, I didn?t have any problem at all on that day because I hardly sleep through out the night!!!.. I remember wearing light green Baju Melayu..and green songket samping. my good friend, Nize helped me a lot that day. I drove the car to Penang by myself although my family preferred another person to drive because after all I was the one that gonna get married. But?should I care about that??..it was my important day & I would like to bring myself to her !!! I had been driving close too 1000km per week just to see... More About: Anniversary , Happy , Diya

Avoid singing in soprano if you sweat at weird places
2007-02-06 23:42:02 Rummaging through old junks can really be great fun! And on rare occasion you can get to untangle hidden mysteries; unearth precious treasures or in my case last Friday, found a couple of pictures dated 1998 that are so valuable. Who would believe stacked among pictures of corporate launchings and AGMs are photos highly contributive to the well being of my personal state of humor; evidence to rare scientific phenomena and most importantly these pictures are fresh stimuli for me to submit a proposal to Rexona. This is what I found at the office. Can you spot the not? After much gawking I had moved on to laughing hysterically before I gawked again this time trying hard to methodically search for the source of the diamond shape damp. Did she wee-wee, had an accident and wet her skirt? Being a female myself, I know very well that is not the spot for a wee-wee accident. Relative to that, around the waistline you can also find the same dark blue spots. So it can?t be a wee-wee accident a... More About: Weird , Places , Sing , Place , Soprano
Our assistants need to get married too sometimes.
2007-02-06 23:42:02 My assistant Bobby ( not his real name) is getting married. I am very fond of my assistant. He is very efficient, hardworking and helpful. When I ask him to use the thick Annual Report to crush the back of my head whenever he sees me falling asleep on my desk, he will instead use my ridiculously huge laptop! To ensure I don?t go drift back to sleep, he shrieks loudly ?that one is for screwing my appraisal, you skinny pig!? I always jump wide awake immediately! You can never find a co-worker as sweet. He even calls me skinny! Sometimes, when he goes out to the run important office errands, he brings me back lotsa delicious cekodok pisang; and it takes me just once of threatening to report to the HR about him installing the cctv at the ladies? and snooping on me smoking pot in the loo. When Bobby takes 2 weeks leave for his wedding receptions, the world comes crashing down on me. Not only have I lost the touch of the most talented graphic designer of the company in my bluepri... 2007-01-29 11:40:04 Yesterday morning before I burn my hands with chili bits, (please don?t tell my mom, I don?t wanna break her heart with my pathetic gastronomic skills); my roommate and I woke up at 6.30am. And it was a Saturday. I can?t recall ourselves getting up so early on a weekend I just have to mention this in our blog. The reason behind the abnormal positive behavior is we wanted to go to the Malaysia Flora Fest 2007 that was gonna start at 8am in Putrajaya. By the way that?s where my office is. The festival and the Floral Parade were held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year and the theme?s focus on unity and multiculturalism is in line with the country?s 50 years of independence. I think holding such carnivals in Putrajaya is way much better than at the Merdeka Square due to the fact that the Malaysian national and legislative capital is very spacious, clean, modern and beautiful plus I can leave our car at my office?s car park for free. Hehehe! There were 18 floats all together and my ... More About: Life , Port , Support , Lays

:: Travel :: Dear Pontianak Bukit Tinggi, thanks for not showing your face
2007-01-26 11:36:02 Azman and I went sight seeing at Bukit Tinggi in Pahang last Saturday. Following the Hijrah calendar, it was actually our anniversary! I can?t believe that I have been married for one whole year? Wow? Bukit Tinggi is just about one and a half hour drive away KL. It lies some 2,500 feet above sea level but it was warmer that I expected it to be. After the long winding road, we reached the ticket booth and they charge RM 16 for adults and RM 8 for children below twelve. That was RM32 for the both of us. Colmar Tropicale at the top is a bunch of (poyo) buildings from a north-eastern village in France dating back to the 16th Century. I have to admit that they were quite pretty. The programs they offered at Colmar Tropicale were frustrating. I don?t know what the 16 bucks for. You still need to pay quite an expensive price for karaoke, bowling, even for using the battered pool table. The only thing that was free is the live band show, but the singers looked like anorexic prostitutes a... More About: Travel , Show , Rave , Your , Face
:: Travel :: Maglev Train in Shanghai ::
2007-01-26 11:36:02 I have been to China twice. The people are nice; the eyes slanting, the vehicles on the road can?t stop honking. The Shanghai drivers will honk at absolutely everything, from a stray cat trying to cross the road to the 90 year old grandma on the sidewalk to the motorist in front for dropping a dime. Luckily, the first commercial high-speed maglev line in the world does not have a horn!! I am very surprise with how fast the train can go without much vibration I?ve taken the train from Pudong International Airport and stop at Longyang Road Station (actually it?s the only route this Maglev train service covered). It cost me 50yuan (RM25 or USD7) for one way trip. The total track is about 30km and the train takes 7minutes and 20 seconds to complete the journey. The top speed during my journey is 431km per hour and even at this speed, the vibration & sound is lesser than Malaysia?s own wibbly-wobbly LRT & KTM Komuter. And to my surprise, I can still enjoy the view of Shan... More About: Travel , Rain , Rave , Train

2007-01-26 11:36:02 It is really easy you know! Just do like what some people do to me. First ask me about when I will get pregnant for more than 5 times in a week. Then launch a lecture on why we should have a baby as early as possible each and every time we meet. On top of that you can also tell me how to plan for my life in vivid details expressing the well known taboo saying that if a lady delays her pregnancy for a few months? chances is she will never get a child at all. Please tell that to me as though my highest education level is standard 3 mid term exam and there is not a slightest chance that I may even be smarter than you; in which you just don’t know it because all these while I have been respecting your feelings! For best result (the pontianak of me will not only haunt you but your next 7 generations as well); you can teach me the optimum way of MAKING A BABY. 2007-01-26 11:36:02 In the attempt to curb my fear of frustration, my New Year resolutions for the past many-many years have always been To Be a Better Person. Since my pretty self is also pretty smart so conning her isn?t exactly easy; had my resolution been To Wash My Car Regularly Myself, it is quite a challenge to reassure yours truly whilst indeed the car had been washed frequently; could that be me washing it? It is difficult to manipulate the mind into believing that that fella washing the car is myself when I am perfectly aware that my limbs are not as hairy, my chest are much more fleshy and my teeth are not as pearly as those Indian immigrants working at the Esso car wash.
