Traumaligno
2008-01-20 14:27:00 Another amazing band that I met through Tantra is Traumaligno. I can't remember my first conversation with Boom Dizon (vocals and guitars), but I do remember him asking me to listen to their songs via Myspace. He asked for my opinion and I told him they were good. It was just a home recording, but the rawness of it added to Latigo's appeal. Coincidentally, they were having a gig at Bridgeway over at Brickroad in Sta. Lucia East Grandmall. I decided to go since it was near our place. We met up and I bought their EP, Baon. It came in a paperbag, those ones that are made of craft paper, like my early-morning pandesal. I asked him why they named it Baon and he said it meant a lot of things. It could mean [ba'on] = snack pack, or [baon'] = thrust.

Life is a poker table
2008-01-19 01:37:00 When I was a kid, my family often gambled whenever they got together. It was a family affair. When my Mama Lola (that's what we call our great grandma on my paternal side) was still alive, we had a mahjong table and set. On Sundays, they got together for snacks and a few rounds of mahjong. Eventually, most of our relatives left for abroad in search for greener pastures. Some migrated to the USA; some are in Italy, some in Australia. When they got settled there and started to afford vacations, they sent postcards from Vegas. Up to now, whenever they go back to the Philippines, they still play a couple of rounds of tong-its (the Filipino version of gin-rummy) at home.My Grandmas, although familiar with the use of computers, aren't really Internet-savvy. With the ongoing regulation of online gambling in America, it would be very difficult to find a legitimate online casino. Some states still prohibit online gambling and many online casinos don't allow US players. Good thing I found ... More About: Poker , Life , Table

my first blog contest
2008-01-17 02:31:00 I've recently realized the benefits of having Entrecard and have found a lot of interesting blogs on the way of card-dropping. I don't usually comment, because1. I don't know much about the topic. But I still read it because I love learning.2. There really isn't anything to comment on.3. I wouldn't resort to a senseless comment just to be able to post one. I will only comment if it's worth posting. Also, in the course of my blog hopping / card dropping, I also found a lot of contests offering ads and Entrecard credits. I have been hesitant to join those contests because, I dunno, I guess I really am a bit antisocial. Anyway, I realized that if I wanted to popularize my blog I should have some sort of marketing. So here goes. I joined the contest at impnerd.com in hopes of winning a 125×125 Ad and Text Link. The mechanics are simple. Each item is worth a certain amount of entries. When the contest ends all entries will be given numbers, then I will randomly select a number that... More About: Contest , Blog
who the hell is zane grey?
2008-01-16 03:57:00 Isn't it strange?1. Isn't it strange how a 100-peso bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?2. Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?3. Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?4. Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?5. Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?6. Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?7. my workstation
2008-01-15 05:30:00 I'm almost done setting up my "new" laptop. It's not what I really wanted (getting an alienware is waaaaaayyyyyy beyond my means). Its a Toshiba Satellite 5100. The batteries are dead, so it's not really mobile. But it works perfectly fine. Compared to my old Dell Inspiron 6000, this is better in some ways. It has bluetooth, and a cpad. For those who don't know, a cpad is an LCD touchpad. With the cpad I can write sticky notes, copy my signature onto a word processing device. this is my workstation this is the Synaptics cpad this is my old laptop this one's my "new" laptop. and this is the cool subLCD More About: Workstation
gadgets galore
2008-01-15 01:38:00 I saw this cool new gadgets while I was blog hopping and dropping EntreCards along the way. Anyway, I only came across the Belkin brand when I was checking for a new laptop rig over at DELL. The Belking Rockstar literally rocks. This would save iPod users from ruining perfectly good headphones every once in a few weeks because of accidentally tugging them while sharing an earpiece. Now those keyboards are stellar. They are officially on my wishlist now. clipped from www.nuacco.com Jan 7th 2008Tags: gadgets Belkin for life Belkin is indeed a technology monster. Following the launch of their photo-realistic keyboard for passionate gamers (see below), it has created Belkin Rockstar - another accessory for iPod. It might be one iPod - but for five hungry listeners. This device allows to connect five sets of earphones to one iPod. What is interesting is that Rockstars can be connected to each other, and thus the number of listeners grows geometrically. Belkin RockS... More About: Gadgets , Galore
new click to pay site
2008-01-14 12:11:00 It's still in it's pre-launch stage and therefore have no way of confirming if this site is the real thing or just another of those scam sites. Anyway, the good thing about this is that they only have a minimum of $1 payout. Meaning you won't have to wait for months to get paid. You also get $2 for every referral so for now, (until Feb 1 when it will be launched) just keep on finding people who would be willing to try it out. Who knows, we could be in for a good payout. ang panlilinlang ng sapin sapin
noodle in a box
2008-01-08 15:29:00 I went back to Riverbanks earlier to have the o2 fixed. While I was waiting for a ride home, I passed by a food take out stand called Noodles in a box. I decided to buy one and try it. It costs P25 for the noodles plus 2 pieces of siomai (your choice of pork or beef). The noodles and monggo sprouts are kept in microwavable containers, perhaps for easy measuring. The food attendant starts by pouring a bit of oil on top of the hot plate. He then starts sauteeing it. He poured in a little soy sauce and mixed the vegetables and noodles until cooked. Once cooked he transferred it into a take out box and asked what kind of siomai I will be having. I decided on the pork one then he handed me the box. I then proceeded to put condiments on it. I started with garlic chili sauce, oyster sauce and sesame oil. I went home and ate my take out food. It didn't taste bad, it's actually OK. Well worth the 25 bucks.

tantra and red horse over at dencio's
2008-01-03 00:17:00 my guildmates and i met up this evening over at dencio's in megamall and had a couple of beers. their service was good although their restroom was apparently broken so you have to go inside the mall to pee. their sisig was ok but was literally an Appetizer. moving on.with me were amiel (AnggulGeneral), maki (klamci), jonathan (Nikola) and patrick (BothsivaJr). it was a fun night yet im glad we ended it early because i've been drunk so many times during the holiday break and was yearning for quality sleep-tv time. overbaking
2008-01-02 09:09:00 lesson #2: never bake brownies while playing tantra, they can and they will get overbaked.this afternoon,i decided to make brownies. i put my character on vend and proceeded to prepare the ingredients. some were good, some were as good as rejects because i overbaked them. i failed to watch the oven thermometer thereby wasting time and lpg on getting the oven to the right temperature. people kept sending pm's inquiring about my items, while the guild on the other hand, were discussing our plans for later. anyway, i got through baking those brownies, i got the recipe from chef annie's dvd (i think they're on sale now, P295 for 3 dvd's).
lesson on day 2
2008-01-02 04:18:00 last night was the first night i got to catch a real good sleep since the holiday break started. i woke up at around 10am, bought eggs in the nearby sari sari store and tried to make french toast because i wanted to use the sandwich maker my mom won at the new year's eve party.isel's version of french toast:beat 4 eggs, add half a can of sweetened condensed milk and a pinch of salt. mix well. then i sliced off the sides of the bread, drenched it in the egg+milk mixture, put it inside the greased (with butter) sandwich maker. i found out that the sandwich maker was made for thick slices of bread, or 2 slices put together. so what i did next was spread butter on one slice, top it with another slice, drench it in the egg+milk mixture. once toasted, i sprinkled cinnamon powder on it and enjoyed it with a nice cup of coffee. i used up 3 loaves of bread. lesson on day 1
2008-01-01 16:43:00 1. if your brother just came home a few hours before a family reunion, make sure you wake him up at least 2 hours before you're scheduled to leave. some effective ways of waking up a person who is "tulog mantika" (literally translated means sleeps like a vegetable oil) are a) violently rock him back and forth while calling out his name and saying "gising na" (wake up) b) convince your little sister to help you out in rocking him back and forth with both of you saying "gising na" at scheduled intervals c) make up a threat like, "ilang beses na tumawag si lola ngagalit na lagi na lang tayo late" d) pretend to sift through his things e) turn on the lights, pull back the curtains and make sure the room gets VERY bright f) make your little sister sing novelty songs nonstopReminder: do not stop until you get him to go to the bathroom.2. brownies from Becky's kitchen are gooOoooOooood3. if you agree to take your younger cousins and siblings to the tiangge make su... this is supposed to be my year
2007-12-31 22:49:00 this is my first post for the year 2008. looking back, 2007 was a year of new beginnings and yet another set of foiled attempts for me. it was one unlucky year. comparing to my previous beginnings, when i had little motivation (nor direction), i took my failures last year badly. why? because last year was when i tried real hard but failed on account of sheer bad luck. ok so not many people believe in luck, one of them being me. but this time i had no other explanation, i did everything in my power. did my homework, pulled all-nighters, all that jazz. but a string of events lead me to failure. i used to be someone promising.now all i am is just an empty promise. plastic bag stash
2007-12-31 19:11:00 My uncle gave this cool thingamajig to my mom. It's made by IKEA and you use it to stash plastic bags for later use. We always get a lot of leftover plastic bags from groceries and we can't just throw them out for practical and environmental purposes. We don't have trouble finding ways to reuse them but at home, we've always found trouble in storing them. With this new thingie, all you have to do is assemble it. Then hang/stick (it comes with adhesives behind the flat surface) it on the wall or any flat surface. Afterwards you can just tie or fold the bag and dump it into this thing. If you need a plastic bag next time, you can just pull one out. More About: Plastic

Hard Boiled Eggz
2007-12-20 10:02:00 Yesterday I blogged about the other Redhorse Muziklaban winners. If you haven't read it yet, you can go here. Today we focus on the bestest Muziklaban winners of all time... Hard Boiled Eggz. When Rohan first made me listen to Grace via their now unmaintained http://hardboiledeggz.tk, I was amazed with his song writing. I am not at all surprised that they won the Muziklaban. Back in Baguio Rohan was asking me about the Second Stage Turbine Blade comic book. Some of you might think that they're just another emo band, but no, they are so much more.First, is the song writing. I am a big fan of poetry in music and HBE has a lot of that in their songs. It seemed that they were able to infuse emotion without sacrificing the rhythm and measure of their lyrics. Second, they don't rely too much on artistic license to create poetry and there is less cliche in their lyrics compared to most bands. Lastly, there are bands that are easy to classify. Then there are bands that are a mix of genr...
Muziklaban and the real challenge
2007-12-19 08:18:00 I was privileged to get to meet Rohan Rimando, Hard Boiled Eggz's vocalist and guitarist back when they still weren't this popular. He was a Tantra player like me and I got to have a few rounds of Emperador with him and a few of the Baguio Tantra players when I went there for a visit. He's a humble guy with really good musical taste. He dissed me over coffee for favoring Paz Lenchantin over Jeordie White. He said I liked Paz on the basis that she was a girl too and not because she was a better bassist. So, ok, I was biased. But hey, we all got our favorites right?Anyway, I couldn't be anymore happy when I found out they were the 2006 Red Horse Muziklaban Rock Challenge grand champions. I was supposed to go to PICC to watch them on the finals night but it was raining so hard in our area and none of the baguio boys were replying to my sms. The next day, the first thing I did was check the newspaper. I felt so proud and relieved to find out that they won. Winning the Muziklaban did... More About: Real
How to use HTML signature in Microsoft Outlook 2007
2007-12-18 07:19:00 Unlike Outlook Express and the older versions of Microsoft Outlook, creating an HTML signature in Microsoft Outlook 2007 is no longer easy. The option to install a signature file is no longer available in Outlook 2007. If you try to paste the HTML code, it will only show up as text. To bypass this, we can place an HTML file in the Signature folder in Microsoft Application data.If you already have an HTML signature, proceed to Step 1. If you don't have one, you can get one at MyBlogLog. Save the file on your desktop.STEPS1. In Microsoft Outlook 2007, go to Tools, then Options.2. Click the Mail Format tab and open Signatures.3.
