Attacking the Military
2007-02-08 05:51:00 Two days ago NBC news military analyst William Arkin attacked the U.S military in his two Internet columns. It's hard to imagine why someone would do this when brave men and women are sacrificing their lives to protect our freedom. I guess Mr. Arkin should realize that these men and women would give their lives to protect the mere freedom of his speech that he is mis-using to make such hurtful, insensitive remarks. It would be understandable if he condemns the failed strategy by the administration. However, taking it out on the military is simply unacceptable. Above all, both NBC news and Washington Post have not taken any action against Mr. Arkin and no formal apology has been issued.... this just shows a lack of class in both organizations..!!!http://www.foxnews.com/ story/0,2933,250481,00.html More About: Military , King , Attack , Atta

Split second
2007-02-07 03:26:00 How long is a split second? Research at UCLA shows this is all relative.Dean Buonomano suggests that the brain relies on external cues rather than on an internal clock to determine the length of split-second events. So, how does the brain perceive the split-second events? If you toss pebbles one after another and measure the elapsed time by calculating when the waves they generate reach a certain point then that would be similar to how the brain times the split-second events.http://www.newscientist.com/articl e/dn11080-how-long-is-a-splitsecond-its-a ll-relative.html More About: Second , Econ , Split

Superbowl
2007-02-05 04:57:00 Superbowl was indeed super tonight. Archie's boy finally won one big.....hold..on..hold on...from now on..it's the Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning."Offense sells tickets, Defense wins games and Special teams wins championships". Tonight, despite a few miscues, I saw a Colts team that played together in all phases of the game. The game started with a kick-off run for touchdown by Deven Hester, the first in Superbowl history. Peyton's third pass was intercepted by Harris. However, neither Peyton nor the Colts got rattled. Peyton collected himself to finish the game 25/38 for 247 yards with a TD and that one pick. The Colts O-line played a physical game and man-handled the Bears defense. If you ask me the entire Colts O-line deserves the MVP award. I love the play calling with a perfect balance between the run and pass, 38 pass plays and 40 run plays. As expected both Addai and Rhodes ran hard.I saw a Bears team today that played soft on defense. There were times when t... More About: Super , Superbowl , Bowl

Favre to comeback in 2007
2007-02-02 22:44:00 Three time NFL MVP Brett Favre is set to return for his 17th season in 2007. It looks like he is excited to comeback.. he should be ..he is a gamer and a winner. Even during a disappointing regular season in 2006, Favre displayed so much emotion and passion for the game.I've missed watching the best of some great ones such as Montana, Elway, Marino.. but I wouldn't say that for Favre. He's truly the NFL's iron-man. He has played 257 consecutive games and in this day and age, when the Quarterbacks get hit hard by big, fast defensive guys, it is a hard feat to accomplish.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/ news/story?id=2752040 More About: Back , Come , Comeback
Volt
More articles from this author:2007-01-28 22:57:00 I missed the Auto Show this year, too bad! I read about Volt though.....!!!Volt is different from the other hybrids out there, in that Volt runs on electricity for about 40 miles after which it needs to be re-charged. For anything more than 40 miles the supplementary engine kicks-in which is indeed used to re-charge the battery, unlike other hybrids(Prius, Civic,.....) in which the engine sends power directly to the wheels. Thus the electricity for Volt could be generated either by plugging into a standard wall socket or by charging the battery by the supplementary engine. All this sounds cool and GM claims that if successful this could totally eliminate the need for gasoline at the pump. So, what would make this possible? I guess the cost of the batteries should be reasonable to warrant any savings from using gasoline. Also, the infrastructure to re-charge the batteries easily should be possible. Today, if you know that you are going to run out of gas you pull over at the next gas st... 1, 2, 3 |
