Check it out. Eric Schell (PHS ‘96) has recently launched IndieGoGo.com, an “online social marketplace connecting filmmakers and fans to make independent film happen”. Eric and I played on the golf team back in the day. Since then Eric has been roaming the world and now has settled down (sort of) in Berekely and founded a company with two other friends. Most recently they were featured on TheAlarmClock, and Eric’s partner, Slava gave a great interview.

St. Paddies Day
2008-03-18 03:41:00
Campbell refused to stay in on his first St. Paddies Day. He insisted we head to the local Irish Pub Muldoons. Campbell enjoyed his milk while we toasted the Irish holiday with a guinness. Of course, we only lasted about 15 minutes before Campbell had it.

Paint.net Used For Some Pictures
2008-02-09 10:47:00
I recently downloaded Paint .net (found http://www.getpaint.net/). It’s free just like the one that comes on every PC but it’s 1000x better. In fact, for those non-adobe photoshop folks, it’s about as good as you can get. Check out two picts I edited this evening. The first is a picture of Campbell’s foot taken today. The second is a picture of Kelly on a walk with Campbell.

I can’t stop laughing. A friend just sent me a link to Gizoogle, a translator of a different kind. I do have to warn you that for some sites it kicks back some language that might not be appropriate for the whole family. However, if the whole family is not watching and you’re not working on a Purpose Driven Software Filter then check this out. Parenting Lessons: Point It Down
2008-02-03 21:31:00
We were encouraged by some friends to share some of the “lessons” learned as first time parents.  I’ll have to kick off this series with a comical lesson regarding changing diapers.  The first few days we kept noticing Campbell was leaking through the diaper.  We double checked the fit making sure each time it was snug yet the pee kept getting out … fortunately, his doctor was in the room when a diaper change was in progress.  Lesson:  point his “unit” down.  If it’s upward it doesn’t matter how snug the diaper is, the pee will get on his shirt.  Result: no more pee on the shirts.  Hurray! In efforts to learn from others I found a nice tutorial on changing diapers in the sky.  I hope you enjoy:  YouTube Directvideo link

We took a video on our camera in “email” mode so we could load it up on YouTube. To say the least the “high speed” internet access is a bit more like the 405 at 5pm on a Friday. Hope you enjoy. You will get to see a nice cry from Campbell and a few dorky comments from his parents. Double Feature Weekend: Juno And There Will Be Blood
2008-01-28 05:49:00
By no means am a movie buff, geek, dweeb, or nerd. Often times I’ll sit in a conversation when others are talking movies and just nod my head and chime in with the occasional chuckle. And it’s not that I don’t like movies, I just am not motivated to go see a “blockbuster” in the theater and by the time it comes to DVD I forgot I wanted to see it. That being said, once in a while I get into a movie kick … and that happened this weekend. Kelly and I went with some friends on Friday night to There Will Be Blood . To be honest, I had not heard of the movie until 90 minutes before the show began so to say the least I was not ready for what was ahead. I’ve inserted the trailer below if you too have not heard of it: YouTube Directvideo link I walked out a bit shocked. It was an excellent film but please do not go in thinking it’s action packed. As we walked out, I heard many mumble “that was slow” and “did anyone ta...

Want To Boost Your Writing Productivity? Have A Baby!
2008-01-25 23:49:00
Great blog post found on copyblogger.com; for obvious reasons this resonates with me! “So, if you want to really take your writing volume to a new level, get into your zone and give yourself a real deadline (like the baby waking up from a nap). Of course, it’s not necessary to actually have a new baby in the house, but sometimes the things we see as writing obstacles turn out to be blessings (in more ways than one).” read more | digg story

Why Americans Should Never Be Allowed To Travel
2008-01-25 18:30:00
It’s a funny note. One of my favorite quotes was: “A man called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that is not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, ‘Don’t lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state.’” read more | digg story

Oxford Sbs Launches Youtube Channel
2008-01-17 20:44:00
I’m sure there are many universities and MBA programs that have YouTube channels, so this might not be breaking news but this is big for Oxford ’s Said Business School (”SBS”). I did a quick search and found 174 videos on YouTube under “MBA Programs” and another 528 under “MBA school”. I didn’t check for duplicates but I’m actually shocked there aren’t more videos. Maybe Oxford is ahead of the curve? Either way, you can check out their videos here: OxfordSBS Or just view one of these samples: BTW, students from 2006 there is a Grace spotting 5 minutes and 25 seconds into the video. The President’s Putter Quick Recap
2008-01-12 00:39:00
I have many handwritten notes that I’ll capture in a post-by-post, day-by-day summary but in the meantime I wanted to at least get a picture up and link to my slide show. On the left you can see a picture of me teeing off during my practice round on the 13th hole. Check out the article written in the Telegraph here. Charlie Rotheroe went on to win The Putter for his 3rd time: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jht ml?xml=/sport/2008/01/07/sgamat107.xml. Lastly, I’ve embeded a few videos. The first is a 360 view of the course. The second is just a classic video of a chap swinging on the 10th tee box.

Are You Kidding Me? A Do-over In The Nba!
2008-01-12 00:12:00
The NBA is ridiculous. I haven’t been a fan since Alex English was playing with the Nuggets and I don’t think I’ll ever be again. I actually feel bad for all the great college players that have to go play in such a poor league. Sure, they get paid a lot but come on. The game is at best boring. Yes, there are some great games; in fact, I enjoyed watching some highlights of the Lakers wearing the throwback shorts against the Celtics. I also think Mark Cuban has brought some spice to the game but overall its still a yawn. Just when I thought I was bored enough with the game, they decide to replay the last 51 seconds. They’re bringing the Heat and the Hawks back to replay, yes replay, the final seconds. You can check out the full story HERE.

What’s In My Bag
2007-12-29 18:48:00
It’s winter in the northern hemisphere so why not be geeked up on golf? It’s that time of year to be thinking about what awaits us in the year to come. Maybe 2008 is the year for my first my hole-in-one (I should mention I’ve played well over 3,000 par threes and patiently await my first ace). Or maybe it will present my first round under 70 since my glorious 67 at Lake Arbor back in 1995. Time will tell. In the meantime, you can check out my weapons of choice for the upcoming year. I’ll be showcasing these sticks in The Putter Jan 3-6. Ucla: Content With Being A Basketball School
2007-12-19 20:02:00
I’ve been in Southern California long enough to know that UCLA fans will not be pleased with being known as only a basketball school, but it appears the decision makers of the football program are planning for something else. According to FanNation, our old CU buddy Rick Neuheisel is the front runner for the head coaching position. Wow. It makes since to me; after all, it’s only been a few years since the CU debacle, followed by the Washington gambling incident and oh yea that whole thing with the 49ers. Maybe he’s changed since going to the NFL … but I wouldn’t bet on it. All that being said, SC fans rejoice because you’ll be racking up more cross-town wins over the next few years. ===== Front-runner in UCLA search Posted: Wednesday December 19, 2007 07:26AM ET UCLA officials may have moved a step closer to finding a new football coach, after Rick Neuheisel was brought in to be interviewed by UCLA Chancellor Gene Block on Tuesday. Neuheisel...
