The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from eligible countries preparing a doctoral thesis. Research grants cover residence costs for a 5 to 10 month period in a renowned university or research center. Fellows are expected to advance their research work mainly by using the facilities and resources provided by the host institution and by interacting with peers.Who Can Apply?Only lecturers and researchers from eligible countries working on their doctoral thesis can apply to the fellowship. Candidates should be under 45 years, and have completed any course work or exams required for their doctoral program.What Does the Program Support?The purpose of the grant is to help fellows advance their doctoral research work through a residency period of five to ten months in a host institution in a country other than their home country or country of residence. Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program 2008 /2009The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program carry a 12-month stipend for each student of $20,000 and an annual cost-of-education allowance of up to $12,000 and up to $20,000 support for a four to six week research collaboration at a NOAA facility.Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarships provides support for outstanding scholarship and encourages independent graduate-level research in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archeology, particularly by women and members of minority groups. Doctoral students for up to four years, and masters students may be supported for up to two years.

Through the Indonesia Scholarship Support Project (ISSP) and with funding from the British Council, the AED Center for International Training administered the scholarship of 22 Indonesian scholars enrolled in masters and doctoral programs in the US. This included monitoring the scholars' academic progress and welfare, maintaining communications with their professors and advisors, and helping them adjust to the U.S. higher education system. The scholars were staff members of the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Education participating in the Asian Development Bank-funded Junior Secondary Education Project to strengthen the secondary school system in the country. While in the US, the participants pursued advanced degrees in fields such as educational planning and management, school administration, policy development, classroom-based assessment, curriculum development, and school innovation.
