My New Online Journal: Dysfunctional Expressions
2007-08-25 13:07:00
The photo in this entry is Daring. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have tried my hand at visual journaling as well as starting yet another written journal recently. Both inconsistent because I lack the time to dedicate myself to them. So I started an online journal solely to make up for it. I guess my thoughts just seem to flow better if I type them out nowadays. My online journal combines everything I have learned from blogging and journaling together. I think it will be an interesting production. As much as I wish I could continue traditional journaling, my instincts tell me that I am better off taking a different approach to it. Who knows it may just be more fun. :) I believe I have greater security keeping my journal online as well. Here at home, my journals are liable to be read by anyone and they can't be archived like they can be online. A private online journal is my best bet. I have named my online journal Dysfunctional Express ions because I want it to b...

Song of the Week: Soul Meets Body by Death Cab For Cutie
2007-08-25 07:02:00
The photo in this entry is Te Adoro. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This week, I'm featuring a song that is very dear to me. Not only because it holds precious memories, but because it has a killer sound that penetrates your senses. I can never get tired of this song. The message is a little difficult for me to understand, but its not why I enjoy this song the most. The vocals are translucent, if you can understand that. Kind of like Enya's voice, but male. He he. Whenever I hear this song, its an exhilarating feeling to tune into to the melodies. The sounds are eccentric, which only make them more appealing to me. By what I can tell, it is a love song of sorts with a somewhat hidden message. When I first heard this song, it captured my attention very quickly and really sunk in to my mind. It stimulates my imagination and makes me feel hope. In hopes of sharing the good vibrations, I give you Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie: I encourage comments on my......

How I Feel About My Weight
2007-08-24 08:30:00
The photo in this entry is Lemonhead. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently watched a talk show episode about weight issues with women. There were women of different shapes and sizes discussing how they feel about their weight and body shapes as well as those of others. Some things that were discussed were confrontational, while others were inspiring. It all made me think about my own issues about weight and body shape. As a child I was very thin, then I became more husky as I went through middle school. In high school I was overweight until I got enlisted in the Air Force. In the Air Force I was the thinnest I had ever been, 104 lbs. The heaviest I've ever been was a couple years ago at over 160 lbs. Being thin was a big change for me, I loved being athletic, although seeing myself so thin and noticing my body changes was out of the ordinary for me. I felt pretty good about being at a healthy weight nonetheless. I wanted to do everything I could to maintain i...

There's No Such Thing As Love At First Sight
2007-08-24 08:28:00
The photo in this entry is No Longer Owned. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I believe that because love is such a profound feeling you cannot immediately feel it when you first lay eyes on someone you are attracted to. Love is much deeper than that. If anything, it is really lust at first sight that is felt or simply a strong physical attraction. A lot of people do confuse that first initial strong attraction for love, while others simply take it as a figure of speech. Some people say they "just knew" from the moment they laid eyes on their significant other, that they were the one. Although I believe that such a strong assurance on such little criteria is unrealistic, miracles are possible. I don't understand why some people believe in love at first sight. Although I know why I don't. A few years back I was attracted to someone I randomly met. Not even a few hours later I was talking on the phone with him as he was eagerly expressing how he felt about me. He kept...

Why I Have Not Written About My Current Love Life
2007-08-21 01:39:00
The photo in this entry is Shells. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. When I began this blog, I was going through a really hard time in my relationship. Blogging was a good outlet for me at the time to help me get through it. Since then I had decided that I would not want to write about my relationship because it would seem too personal. Whether the writing content were negative or positive, I didn't want to have it within my archives. I feared I would regret writing about my relationship because it could have the potential to bring back bad memories that would bring me sadness or anger. I had this same motive for my personal journal a few months ago. By not writing about the relationship, whether it was going great or really bad, I would avoid emotional memories. Although my relationship has been a big focus of mine for its duration, I wanted it to be independent from most other things in my life, especially blogging. Up to this point, I felt I would be unable to sha...

About Me: My Blogging Personality
2007-08-19 20:57:00
The photo in this entry is Starry Eyed. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I took a little quiz about my blogging personality. The results were not surprising, yet very accurate. I began blogging with the intentions to get myself out there and expose my work. I think I've done enough to gain a few fans and even some great friendships. For a time I was working towards making myself more popular in the blogosphere, but now I actually don't bother wondering whether I am as popular as the next person or not. And though my blog will remain ever changing, I just want to be me. The perfectionist that I am won't let me stick with just one design or format. Although it may be what makes my blog so interesting to some. I'm not concerned about how much money I make from my blog, or how highly I'm ranked, or even the amount of traffic I get. I'm just cool with having my own little corner of the web, like I have always wanted. My Blogging Type is Confident and Insightful You'...

Song of the Week: Star Guitar by the Chemical Brothers
2007-08-18 12:37:00
The photo in this entry is The Library Tower. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Most of those who know me well enough are aware of how much I love the sound of techno and electronica. This week I am featuring a song that made me appreciate these genres of music a lot more. Star Guitar is a song with nearly unrecognizable lyrics, that are lightly vocalized throughout the song, giving the whole track an interesting emotional effect. I first heard this song when I was well into being a teenager and simply fell in love with it. From beginning to end the sound is hypnotic and gripping and progresses very well, as if to take you within a dream. Its why I love this song so much. I also enjoy how the harsh and soft melodies compliment each other. Every time I play this song, I have to hear it from start to finish, there's just no other way to fully enjoy it. The Chemical Brothers have produced so many great tracks, this one being in my top 3 favorites of theirs. Their... Ne...

Being Spied On
2007-08-18 12:00:00
The photo in this entry is Hide and Seek. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. For some time now I have felt paranoid about being watched and spied on. I recently learned that my fears of this have become a reality. There are 5 different people that have gone to great lengths to find out information about me. Some actually physically spying on me, and though it is being done in very low pro manner, obviously it has not been low enough for me to not find out about them. It is not a life threatening thing, and I'm not in any kind of danger. It just makes me uncomfortable. I know that the people doing this just want to know about me, that's all. Although there have been 5 people confirmed, there could be others I don't know about. Frankly I really don't want to know if there are more. My only concern is my privacy, which is difficult enough to keep these days. The crazy thing about this is that it has gone on for a few years, with sporadic sightings or discoveries. Altho...
Bouncing Back From My Time Away
2007-08-17 05:49:00
The photo in this entry is Illusion. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This past week has been a roller coaster for me. I decided to take a break from blogging and being online overall because a personal situation here at home got out of hand. I don't live in a normal household, and this factor disrupted my momentum in my day to day activities. So I took care of what I had to and began working towards keeping things from getting out of hand again. There is still some tension in the air here, so I'm treading on a high wire every day. Although it makes things difficult at times, I'm managing. I am at least still able to get online, if anything, that's the best I could have hoped for. Blogging may not be the same from now on though. I have been burned out from managing everything I do, and have come to accept that I got carried away. Since my lifestyle will be once again changing and going into a different direction, it calls for more focus on myself. I basically nee...

Poems About Bad Relationships
2007-08-09 08:53:00
The photo in this entry is Strings of Adornment. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. These are some recent poems I wrote during a sleepless night of constant tears. Though you may not understand these poems, they are my way of venting some of the deepest pain I have. I don't always feel this way, but when I do, I release it in rhyming lines like these. It's one of the ways I show how tough this little cookie is. Although sometimes I do crumble. These poems are not about one person in particular, but many. I also describe different occasions instead of just one. Painful Memories Every tear I shed I bow my head In utter pain I cry Feeling like I want to die My heart bears another crack When your words attack With every drop that falls I hear your calls I break Unable to take Each time I weep I try to keep Myself from remembering Everything Lone Soldier Every battle fought alone Taking all the punches blown No one by my side Shattering all my pride A helping hand has ...

How Lack of Good Time Management Affects Me
2007-08-07 20:20:00
The photo in this entry is Leopard Ray. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. In recent days I have been feeling pretty burned out. There are many demands I must attend to every single day, and there is never a dull moment for me. Although in the past few weeks, I have experienced the major effects of bad time management. My health having taken the greatest toll. After the first week of art class I missed my first day of the following week because I urgently needed to see a doctor. The next day I was so tired that I overslept, thus missing another day of class. Which was already one day too many, so I could not continue attending. Then I forgot to call back a government agency about an important appointment. It could mean big trouble for me, but I have yet to see. I have a small planner and most recently bought a whiteboard calendar, yet am still unable to organize my life. I am not a procrastinator, so when I miss things like this it makes me look like I am one. For... ...

The photo in this entry is Morning Dew. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Simon 's Money Notes is a fairly new blog authored by Simon, a man with a pleasant attitude and fresh eagerness that can potentially change your outlook about your own blog. Simon's Money Notes offers information and articles on opportunities to make money, online or otherwise. Many of his posts offer great resources and advice for blogging as well. I am most impressed with his blog content and writing style, its straight to the point and without frills. A great quality for a blog to have, it keeps the reader's attention. Simon's Money Notes also has a few distinctive features such as his post footer widgets, helpful for feedback and learning more about his individual posts. His header is awesome, its simple and striking at the same time so its not very distracting. You can also translate his blog to several other languages. Tagged for the Middle Name Meme
2007-08-06 07:26:00
The photo in this entry is Sunset Rays. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Rules 1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts. 2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of their middle name. If you don?t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had. 3. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog-post containing your own middle name game facts. 4. At the end of your blog-post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don?t forget to leave them a comment telling them they?re tagged, and to read your blog. Since I don't have a middle name I'm going to pretend it is Jean. :) Jubilant when I want to be Eccentric to the fullest Always working on something Never gives up I used to do stuff like this in school, very thought-provoking. Song of the Week: Imagine by John Lennon
2007-08-04 06:45:00
The photo in this entry is Warm Sunset. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This week I'm featuring a song that is a favorite of many, by the legendary artist John Lennon . Although I don't agree with the message of this song, I absolutely love the melodies and vocals. John Lennon's voice is one of my favorites next to Imogen Heap's, Bono's, and Chris Martin's. What I enjoy about John Lennon's singing in this song is that it has a modest characteristic that I admire. This song is special to me because it reminds me of a time in my life when I was beginning to explore the world and learn about who I am. The person that introduced me to this song was someone very dear to me. So every time I hear it, it reminds me of them. I am featuring this song in honor of my old friend, who had a birthday recently. I don't listen to this song often, just so the regard I have for it remains. If I hear it too much I'll likely get tired of it. But you're welcome to listen to it as...

The photo in this entry is Newbie. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently signed up for Good Mail , a snail mail project started by Annie. I was intrigued by the concept of community portrayed by the Good Mail participants and noted how successful that concept has made the project. Good Mail promotes thoughtfulness and in turn keeps snail mail alive. I have begun my own list of Good Mail Gal members in hopes that I could carry on the tradition of sending and receiving mail goodies within the group. There really aren't any rules, so you're pretty much free to send as little or as much mail to any amount of members. I may only keep the list limited to 50 people, unless I come up with a system to comfortably allow more members and preserve functionality. Its never too late to be added to the Good Mail Gals list, which is on a private page that is password protected for members only. The first Good Mail package I received was from Jennie. When it came to receiving it I noticed that the back had stamps advertising "2nd Chance Rebound Journals". I inquired about it and thought it was a nice idea, so I decided to buy one. I was very pleased with the quality of his Journal #1704 and wanted one similar. When I received the journal I requested, I was throughly pleased with it. Here is Journal #1704 when I had it in my possession. Here is my new journal I got a few days ago. Michael can customize your journal to your liking. I asked that it have plain pages for sketching and a pink and purple theme. I was pleasantly surprised by the Christian cross pattern on the front and back of my journal. What I love about the journals Michael makes is the unique aspect they have. Each journal is as different as you and I. They are made with high quality materials,...

Song of the Week: Do You Know by Enrique Iglesias
2007-07-28 06:03:00
The photo in this entry is Speckled Clovers. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This week I'm featuring one of the newest tracks by Enrique Iglesias . When I first heard this song I was watching the music video and how it was filmed. I was compelled by the lyrics, they are raw and powerful. I relate to this song because I have felt this way before, and I have been in bad relationships. The way Enrique sings this song gives you the sense of despair that the lyrics express. Its as if him singing this song is his last resort to venting his pain. Do You Know has a humbling message, which can either make you think about what you are going through or what you are doing to someone. My Struggle to Be a True Christian
2007-07-27 05:05:00
The photo in this entry is Golden Moon. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I first received the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues when I was 14, months later I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Yet since then, I have been on a major roller coaster of beliefs. Before becoming a Christian I was involved in witchcraft since the age of 9. This is the first time I let that knowledge out. At such a young age, I had no idea what I was doing was witchcraft until years later. The foundation of my beliefs was everything against God. I remember not wanting to have anything to do with God or churches when I was really young, barely in elementary school. I would hate it when my mom took me to the Catholic church on Sundays. I would even say crazy things against God. When I was 14, all it took was an instant message conversation to change my outlook. I was delving deeper into witchcraft at the time and becoming more aware of that world. I was on the house computer and an insta...
