The VentSecret Project
2007-07-26 07:00:00
The photo in this entry is Prestige. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have had the idea for this new project for a while now. Now, I finally have the means to make it a reality. Be a part of Vent Secret and let your voice speak what's in your heart and mind. VentSecret is a continuous project that lets people call in and tell their secrets, frustrations, and hopes anonymously. Is there a message you wish to tell someone, and it's eating you up inside? Are you upset with the government? Is your neighbor ticking you off? Is your boss getting on your last nerve? Do you have a secret you need to get off your chest? Vent yourself, relieve your stress, and share what you simply cannot tell anyone else. Whatever you wish to say, you can share it on VentSecret. There's no rules and it's absolutely free. Messages are public and you can choose to remain anonymous. Call 1-877-608-5245 with code 7765365 and record your message now. Technorati: ventsecret, secrets, vent...

How I Explain My Aquarian Ways
2007-07-23 01:56:00
The photo in this entry is Setting Sun. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently read a section in a book my sister owns that talks about the characteristics of people that were born within a certain date range. January 20/21 to January 30 to be exact. I was born January 27th, which makes me an Aqua rius. The following is from the book I read which I found rather interesting. Meet Ms. Spacewoman for this is a decanate of equality who in true Star Trek fashion goes where no one else will. They are possessed by the spirit of adventure and a desire to discover the unknown. They have foresight and vision and incredible intuition, with a piercing perception about people and life. But though they possess altruism and can be humanitarian to a Mother Theresa degree their feelings and emotions are much more exclusive and have to be earned by loved ones around them. They tend to hurt the ones they love whilst giving their all to complete strangers - you either love 'em or ha...
My Work in the First Week of Drawing Class
2007-07-22 07:34:00
The photo in this entry is Torn Up Inside. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I began my art class this last Monday, the last day of the first week was on Thursday. So far I have enjoyed going to class, although the curriculum is not as interesting as I thought it would be. The teacher is not big on lecturing either, most of the time you just have to figure things out on your own. I'd be pretty lost if I didn't already know how to do certain things in drawing. Its evident that's how the newbies feel. Here are the thumbnails of the drawings I have made so far with descriptions along with them. They are all freehand with the exception of Wednesday's drawings. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photo. I apologize for the picture quality, I did not have much time to photograph these pieces. Monday We began with drawing our hand on regular drawing paper. I forgot to bring my drawing pencil, so I settled with using a pen I had. The drawing looks funny because I mo...

Song of the Week: Speed of Sound by Coldplay
2007-07-21 06:24:00
The photo in this entry is Reminiscent. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Coldplay has become a tremendous band in the new millennium that can be described as being up there with Depeche Mode and U2. Chris Martin as a vocalist is powerful in his messages and feeling through his singing. This song is one of the best tracks that I have ever heard by Coldplay. I enjoy nearly every track of theirs, this one being in the top 5. To this day I do not understand the message of this song, or what it's overall meaning is. But it is all the more pleasant anyway. What I enjoy most about this song is the sense it gives me of a great struggle that is overwhelmingly overcome through sheer will power. The vocals are quite striking, I like singing along whenever I can. This songs also seems to have a sense of wonder that not many do. It leaves you empowered and uplifted with its rock sound mixed with some electronica. Sometimes I listen to this song when I am feeling under the weathe...

My Funny Voice Recording
2007-07-17 08:32:00
The photo in this entry is Daisy Daze. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently remembered that I have an audio file on my hard drive which is a recording of a funny voice I used to do. Two days ago marked the first anniversary of this recording. To kind of celebrate the occasion, I'm finally sharing it with the world. I don't do recordings like this anymore, although I wish I did. Lately I have not quite had the inspiration to. Since the recording is a .wav file, you have to download it, its a very short recording though. A few people I know think its pretty cute. If you can figure out where this statement is from, I'd be quite impressed. Here's a hint, it is from a cartoon. Happy guessing. :D Technorati: voice recording, personal, voice, audio, audio file, funny voice, voice clip, jkeagan, lyndawalldezI encourage comments on my writings. Join the Open Blogroll
2007-07-16 06:23:00
The photo in this entry is Hidden Within. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have come across many blogrolls that are focused on specifics such as gender, beliefs, and interests. They are very popular and useful, but I think there should be an open blogroll in which anyone who has a blog can join and still get a sense of community. So I have created the Open Blogroll . As long as you have a blog, no matter what kind, you can join. :D This blogroll can also be used as a viral linking tool to raise your blog rank. Each blog in the blogroll links to you, provided that the blogroll is displayed on their blog. Use this code to display the Open Blogroll on your blog: The O pen Blogroll Once the blogroll is displayed on your blog, use the form at the bottom of my right sidebar to send your request to join. Recent Changes to My Blog
2007-07-15 06:37:00
The photo in this entry is Peculiarity. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently gave my blog a major makeover. I thought it needed to be more inviting and personal, so I got a new layout to portray that. New features include an auto-linking tool, a music playlist, a search box, a contest section, local data, a forum for my blog, a cool new guestbook, a chat room, and a section with links to some of my features on the net. Since I got this new layout, installing code into my blog is a lot simpler. I only have to consider one widget at a time instead of an entire sidebar. Although initial loading is rather slow, finishing up is smooth. I still have some tweaking to do to make the appearance of my blog more appealing. I miss my old header, I'm sure others do too, so I'm figuring out a way to bring it back. With this new layout I can show everything I had hiding under those old hide/show links. My blog is more organized as well with more opportunities for everyone t...

Song of the Week: Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's
2007-07-14 04:32:00
The photo in this entry is Silkyness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This week I'm featuring a recent and very popular song, Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's. This song is a very sweet and romantic track that just may bring a tear to your eye. I enjoy the vocals very much, they are subtly distinctive. The guitar strumming in this song is rather calming as well, it takes you to a happy place. I believe that the Plain White T 's is rather new, but already quite a hit. This song has clever rhyming with sincere and real lyrics. A great favorite for many years to come. So without further ado, here is Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's: Technorati: music, song, track, music track, hey there delilah, plain white t's, hey there delilah by the plain white t's, song of the week, music feature, jkeagan, lyndawalldezI encourage comments on my writings. Help Me Stay in College
2007-07-13 07:05:00
The photo in this entry is Make A Wish. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have started a fund raiser to acquire some assistance in paying for a large debt I have, which will enable me to return to college full time. This month I will be attending an art course at a local community college. I paid $60 for the course because I cannot receive Financial Aid. I can't receive Financial Aid because I have this debt and am unable to pay it on my own. The exact amount I owe is pictured below on the first line, which I must pay to the last community college I attended. I owe this money because I received a check from Financial Aid, cashed it, and was unable to finish my term which under their terms means I must pay back a portion of what I received. I was unable to finish my term because I unexpectedly had to move back home, thus not being able to follow up with my financial obligations. I checked the website of the last college I attended for this information, then I call...

Archie Mendoza: A Talented Graphic Artist
2007-07-12 05:36:00
The photo in this entry is The Rocketing Flower. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Archie Mendoza is a wonderful graphic artist with amazing skills in producing art in Microsoft Paint. I believe very few artists out there have the ability Archie does. He's an expert, creating very detailed artwork of cartoons, lettering, and various images. All of his artwork is original and created a pixel at a time. He has spent years developing his skills. Some of his work includes favicons, banners, and cartoon images. You may view pieces made by him over at his MySpace profile. You can also commission work by him at a decent price. He also enjoys creating works from reference. Here are some samples of his work, a few of his favicons: Don't pass up an opportunity to give your blog or site a makeover with Archie's graphic art. Easy Home Treatments for Heartburn
2007-07-10 00:49:00
The photo in this entry is Gloomy Sky. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have suffered from heartburn on occasion for the past 2 years. Lately I have not had any symptoms because I'm doing some of these home treatments. I'd like to share them with those that would like relief. If these don't work for you, see your doctor. Following these home treatment tips can prevent most cases of heartburn. However, if backflow of stomach acid into your esophagus happens regularly, you may have GERD, gastroesophogeal reflux disease. It can cause continuous irritation of the lining of the esophagus, which can lead to other health problems. Try other home treatments before taking antacids or stomach acid blockers to relieve heartburn. If you take medication to relieve heartburn without doing other home treatments, your heartburn is likely to keep coming back. Eat smaller meals, and avoid late night snacks. Don't lie down for 2 to 3 hours after eating.Avoid foods that bring on......

About Me: How Real Am I?
2007-07-09 23:00:00
The photo in this entry is I Dare You. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have always considered myself to be someone who is real, I'll tell ya like it is, no sugar coating. I know I don't like fake people, that's for sure. I have always followed a statement one of my brothers always stressed as well, "Keep it Real !". This little quiz confirms just how real I am. I think the results of this quiz are quite accurate. :D Although, if I had taken this quiz only a year ago, I'm sure the results would turn out less appealing. 90% now is not too surprising. :) I Am 90% Real There's hardly a person on this earth more real than you are. You have no problem showing people who you are, flaws and all. For you, there couldn't be any other way. Because it's way too stressful to live an inauthentic life. You're very comfortable with yourself. And because of this, you're able to live an exciting, interesting, and challenging life. On the real tho, what's up with that...
The Unique Art of Sam Brown
2007-07-09 15:34:00
The photo in this entry is Bridge Over Water. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I don't remember how I came across this website, but I am really glad I did. Explodingdog.com features hundreds upon hundreds of original artwork by Sam Brown . All of which is drawn with different media, even using a PC tablet. I was first intrigued by Sam's artwork for its simplicity. Sam draws his artwork based on titles people can send to him via email. A uniquely interesting method to inspire artwork. He has been drawing his hilarious and intriguing cartoons since 2000. All of his work is archived on his website. There are a number of books available for purchase as well as different merchandise featuring his work. Sam even has his own ebay store where you can purchase original artwork and prints. What I love most about his art is the innocence it portrays in such a humorous way. I find myself giggling at most of the pieces. All of his art is very well put together and the characters...

Song of the Week: Brandi Carlile - Happy

The photo in this entry is Ripe For The Picking. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. When I first heard this song I had to hear it a dozen more times in a row because it describes a very specific message that I can relate to. A message that conveys perfectly the closure I have had from a certain relationship I was in a very long time ago. I doubt any other song can describe how I feel now like this one. I very recently discovered the music of Brandi Carlile , her voice is incredible. In this song her vocals are delicate and simple, which compliment the melodies nicely. A Year of Sobriety
2007-07-05 11:45:00
The photo in this entry is Having a Drink. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Yesterday marked the first anniversary since my trip to the hospital for drug related reasons. I went to the emergency room of UCLA on the eve of Independence Day. I had a major nervous breakdown from experiencing withdrawal. A friend suggested I go to the hospital, so I did. Around that time in my life I was pretty out of control, smoking cigarettes and marijuana, drinking beer and hard liquor, and using crystal. I had a strong rebellious spirit within me, and all it took was a trip to the hospital to calm me down. From that day on I didn't drink, smoke, or use again. After my stay at the hospital I kept the bracelet that was assigned to me, as a reminder of why I don't use drugs anymore. The bracelet symbolizes the bondage I had to that bad lifestyle and what it brought me to. I look at it sometimes and think about how grateful I am that I did not let myself go any deeper in to that dark ...

How I Made My Favicon Using Photoshop CS2 and Google Page Creator
2007-07-03 13:24:00
The photo in this entry is Being Real. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Not long ago I found a great way to make a favicon and install it onto my blog. It may not be much, but it satisfies my needs. In Photoshop CS2 I designed the small graphic you see in place now. I did that by creating a blank background and using the Text tool to place the letters. The original size was bigger than 16x16 pixels. So when I was done designing the graphic, I resized it by going to Image -> Image Size, then inputting 16 for height and width and selecting pixels. You can do the same with any graphic image. Originally it was a .jpeg file, which cannot be used for favicons. So I had to convert it to .ico file format. Photoshop CS2 doesn't have a feature for converting to .ico files, so I needed a plugin that would enable me to. I went here to download and install the plugin that would allow me to create .ico files in Photoshop CS2. Once that was in place, I converted the file to .ico,....

Why I Prefer Blogger Over Wordpress
2007-07-02 11:44:00
The photo in this entry is Fascination. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I have used Blogg er ever since I began my first blog over a year ago. I had the most basic ideas of what blogging was and was not too interested in doing much past just using the platform to post my writings every day. After creating a test blog about 6 months ago, I got more into customizing my blog with coding. So when I created this blog, I was well prepared and even more eager to explore the possibilities and potential of Blogger's capabilities. I remember wanting to have a Wordpress blog when I got the idea to create One Day At a Time. I was attracted to Wordpress for their unique ability to allow such great customizations to a blog. I looked into setting one up, but was met by many challenges. I couldn't understand the set up process or how many of the components went hand in hand. Everything was beyond me. So I gave up and stayed with Blogger. Blogger gave me the opportunity to set up a...
