The Influence of Music in My Life
2007-07-02 10:44:00
The photo in this entry is Moment Too Soon. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Music was once one of the greatest focuses in my life. Although my interest in music has not died down much, it doesn't take up my time and attention like it used to. I am someone who has eclectic taste in music. It is more refined than it is varied, by my own definitions of course. I enjoy music from all genres, I mean everything. Classical, techno, country, rap, pop, Christian, Indian, mariachi, rock, opera, hip hop, soul, blues, dance, well you get the idea. I grew up with people thinking I was pretty weird for my taste in music. When I was a teenager I was criticized a lot for listening to odd combinations of music. I would probably be listening to Depeche Mode one moment, then Shania Twain the next. I could care less, my music was my music. I have always been fascinated by sounds in music, certain beats, unique vocals, or even the entire song as a melody. When I was an adult I set out...

The Most Unhealthy I Have Ever Been
2007-07-01 05:12:00
The photo in this entry is Fully Blossomed. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I was recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, which can be pretty serious if left untreated. I suspect I have only had it for the past 3 months. It is a disease which basically means that my thyroid glands are not functioning at a fast enough rate. My hormones are all out of whack, I've gained weight, and I've felt depressed and sluggish these past few months. Up until recently I thought I was experiencing these and other symptoms because of an irregularity in my cycle. Then I realized that my irregularity alone was a primary indicator of major problems. Although I still can't quite pinpoint the cause of the onset of this disease, I am hoping that I will pull through and gain my health back. If I don't, I'll have to depend on medicine for the rest of my life to keep me stable. I'm a little scared, but I have faith. I'll be getting a consultation to figure out treatment this week. For t...

Song of the Week, My New Series
2007-06-30 02:43:00
The photo in this entry is On the Run. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I was listening to tunes online just trying to pass the time when I got the inspiration to feature a song every week of tracks that I enjoy, whether they are new or not. Not a lot of people know the kind of music I enjoy besides my own family. So this is a great opportunity for others to have insight to and enjoy my musical tastes as I do. I've always told people about how all the songs I enjoy are specially chosen. I can't possibly say that I only like a certain genre of music. So don't be surprised if I feature a song that you would not expect me to like. :D This week's song is one that I have enjoyed since it first came out. I don't get tired of hearing it, like almost any other track I like. Although I thought this was the original version of this track for a while, I was surprised to find that it is a remix version. I couldn't believe that the artist was Kelly Osbourne either. It sounds...

Laying Low to Get Back on Track With Life
2007-06-23 02:40:00
The photo in this entry is The Pacific Coast. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. The past few days have been tumultuous between getting my laptop repaired, managing funds, and a few projects online. Since things have gotten too out of whack, I will be taking some time off to get back on track with everything. It shouldn't take too long before I'm back to blog my heart out again, just a few days. :D A few days ago I was overwhelmed by a personal situation in my life, which made me decide that investing the way I have been in my online life would not be worth it in the long run. I seem to have gotten caught up in the hype of blogging, and now I am left having spent so much money practically for nothing. I haven't really made much from blogging, and now I don't really care to focus on monetizing. I think just carrying on the purpose I had for this blog in the beginning is better for me and more rewarding for anyone who reads my blog. Plain and simple, this is my perso...

Blog Review: Blogozine
2007-06-21 08:42:00
The photo in this entry is Delicate Flare. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Blog ozine is a blog authored by Dee, a student majoring in business systems. Blogozine is a blog that features content from other blogs all over the blogosphere, whether it is popular or not. Posts consist of interesting articles, photography, and helpful resources that Dee finds useful, eye-catching, or of the best quality. It is certainly a great resource in itself as a place to explore the best content on various topics, mostly submitted by other bloggers. The objective appears to simply be "sharing is caring" when it comes to great finds and interesting articles. Dee varies her writing tone between personal and professional, which is a good technique for engaging readers. Although some of her posts are not formatted correctly, so you may miss some of what you read. It is apparent that this blog?s popularity is based on its content more than anything else. The blog layout is a popular... ...

About Me: Do I Need Therapy?
2007-06-20 02:36:00
The photo in this entry is In Such Loving Eyes. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I took the following quiz because I was curious of the results. Just to share something a little personal, I have had extensive therapy throughout most of my life. This little quiz coming out to what it did shows me that I have grown from everything I needed therapy for, but some things still affect me occasionally. I'm pretty stable now, good for me. :D There's a 42% Chance That I Need Thera py If you think you need therapy, you probably do. But there's a good chance you don't. Like everyone else, you have your fair share of problems. And unlike most people, you're fairly good at solving them yourself. A Poem About My Relationship Troubles
2007-06-18 13:35:00
The photo in this entry is From Within. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This poem was written recently. I'm pretty much on a roll right now with writing poetry. I have never written poetry this raw or this frequently before. As I mentioned before, I don't write poetry unless I'm feeling a lot of emotion about something. This piece is about the many times I have been fooled in past relationships and how they ended. Taken Granted For They warned me not to let his claws set in And so the breakdown had to begin Hypocrisy in words said I was selfish It was really he that committed mischief A cover up ensued right before my eyes My heart breaking as he ignored my cries Helpless to the harsh rejection Missing moments of affection The beginning of the end was set I wish we both had never met A song with a similar message: If you liked this post, buy me a smoothie Technorati: prose, writing, poem, poetry, love, relationships, expression, jkeagan, lyndawalldezI... ...

Where To Get Free Music Tracks For The Web
2007-06-18 02:40:00
The photo in this entry is Brilliance. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I discovered radio.blog.club a while back when I was searching for a way to put music on my blog. After checking it out, I decided to stick with it. Its a site that hosts music tracks that users upload. All tracks are available publicly, but are not for download. The reason I like this site so much is because it is so easy to find a song, no matter how old or new it is, its here. The site is very easy to navigate and all it takes to find the song you want is to type the artist name or song title in a search field. You are then presented with a list of matches for you to choose from. Each track can be displayed in a player within its respective playlist, or you can get a code to embed the track individually anywhere on the web. Although there are usually duplicate tracks of a single song, you get to choose which one you want to hear or use elsewhere. To this day I have not come upon a corrupted......

A Poem About Giving Up On Love
2007-06-16 09:39:00
The photo in this entry is Bell Within A Maze. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. The following is a poem I wrote a few nights ago as I was reflecting on a lot of significant aspects of my life. As I wrote this poem, I realized a few important things about myself. This poem also led to the inspired writing of a few others that are still in progress. This poem expresses the weariness of my heart dealing with those that don't understand how adamant I am about not being available and why. Basically, this proves my point. The Games We Play They tell me what I want to hear To try and take away my fear Of opening my heart again And being more than a friend Some persist, yet all have failed To show me the love from fairy tales They say my expectations are too high Yet all I want is for my heart to fly They stole my happiness, now my hope is murdered How could anyone expect me to go further? Since the love I sought does not exist I can't be convinced to not resist I ki...

A Delay to My Laptop Repair
2007-06-15 12:23:00
The photo in this entry is My Dear Friend. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Since my laptop got all screwy on me a few days ago, my online life has been that much more difficult. It's enough that I miss my laptop, even if it cops an attitude sometimes. Having to use other computers to maintain my online presence is not so cool though. I seriously can't wait to get my laptop back. A few days ago my computer malfunctioned because the keyboard was so clogged that a key got stuck. It was an arrow key, thus continuous scrolling on everything which wouldn't let me select anything or even shut my computer down. I tried cleaning the keyboard with Q-tips, but made the problem worse. It resulted in causing the computer to not progress past the first black screen from start up and instead commence with an annoying beeping sound. At that point, I freaked out and practically started crying. To make a long story short, I found a place that could repair my laptop, but it will ta...

About Me: What Kind of Artist I Should Be

Get Your Blog Reviewed for Free
2007-06-11 07:08:00
The photo in this entry is Brightened. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Why pay for a blog review when you can get one for free? That's exactly what I am offering, and now is your chance to take advantage. I will personally read and review your blog. All that is required is that you link back to this blog. Reviews are conducted throughout the week and are posted on a weekly basis, every Monday. All reviews can be found in my Reviews category. Why am I offering free blog reviews? Sometimes bloggers want input about their blogs from a focused perspective, but don't want to or cannot pay for reviews by high priced reviewers. I believe it is better to receive an honest review for free than an influenced one that is not, even if it is positive. Ultimately the best insight is what matters and will be of greatest value to the blogger. So what are you waiting for? Find out details and submit your blog here. My New Blog Category Series: About Me
2007-06-10 05:35:00
The photo in this entry is Madness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I recently got inspired to start a series of posts which will also have its own category, About Me. Each post will contain results of quizzes, polls, or surveys I take that give some information about me. I used to do these a lot when I was very active on MySpace. Instead of posting on a regular basis for this category, I'm going to make it interesting by posting spontaneously. The point is to familiarize my readers about who I am. So to begin, here's my first quiz: I Am 8% Girly Um... you're a guy, right? If not, you're the most boyish girl in the world. And for you, that's probably the ultimate compliment. Gee, I was kind of surprised by the results, but then again I am quite boyish. I grew up being a tomboy, go figure. Although, the questions in this quiz were totally cliche girly stuff. I got an 8% because I only selected one of the things that girls do; read gossip magazines. Pffft! If...

My Photography Is Getting Published
2007-06-09 06:03:00
The photo in this entry is Daily Photo 29. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. I received a letter in the mail yesterday from picture.com informing me that my photo "Daily Photo 29" has been selected for publication in an upcoming anthology called Endless Journeys. I submitted the photo to their site as an entry to a contest. I was so pleased to find out that this photo was selected for publication, I couldn't believe it. I used to hold a photo project called Daily Photos, but only got as far as 50 photos before my camera broke. I had decided to not display any of my daily photos in my blog, but this is surely a great exception. Daily Photo 29 is a big favorite out of all my photos. If I could give it a different title, it would probably be Tears of Joy. The grand prize for the contest I entered is $1,000. I qualify for the $10,000 annual grand prize as well. I'm hopeful to at least win a silver medal prize, but being published is good enough for me. It feels pretty g...

Making Pen Pal Friends
2007-06-08 06:24:00
The photo in this entry is Gazing Into Water. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. If you did not already know, I don't have many friends. I keep in touch with a few people online and a handful here in my area, but that's it. I don't really want to reconnect with anyone from my past, so I've decided to make a few friends through snail mail. I signed up at a few pen pal services, created my profiles, and in no time began making and getting offers to exchange snail mail. I'm not new to having pen pals, but I certainly don't see it the same way I used to. My main goal in having pen pals is to establish a few meaningful friendships and get to know what other people are like in other areas in a more sincere sense than anything that can be said or done online. Part of the inspiration for this is the 1001 Journals Project I'm involved in. I enjoyed looking through the pages of the first traveling journal I received. It gave me a unique sense of who the people were that m...

The Photoshop Difference
2007-06-07 23:58:00
The photo in this entry is Pure Glow. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. As I have been playing around in Photosho p CS2, I've discovered some neat ways to apply certain tools to enhance my photos. With this attempt at fixing a photo I used "Flower Girl" as my subject. A black and white portrait of me pictured below. The top photo is the edited Picasa version which needed little adjustments. The second photo is the finished edited result done in Photoshop. There are some major differences in some elements of the photo, but I think it looks a lot better than before. How did I make this happen? Well........ Editing this photo in Picasa was a snap. I converted the photo to black and white. Then I applied the Glow feature twice while adjusting its saturation. And I finally adjusted the Fill Light, Shadow, and Highlight levels of the whole photo. Although the photo appears more realistic than the Photoshoped version, I felt it needed improvements. At first glance y...

Taking My Photography to the Next Level
2007-06-05 07:24:00
The photo in this entry is In Awe. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I just bought a copy of the Photoshop CS2 Bible. I went to Borders to buy a different book, but since they did not have it, I took a look around. Although I saw several other books about Photoshop, I picked this one because I was confident I would get everything I could out of it. It's quite a tome.I know Photoshop CS3 is out already, but I'm not upgrading until I have an established knowledge about the version I currently own. I don't want to get ahead of myself. The book cost me about $40, a really good investment for what I want to learn. I'll most likely read just a few pages a day, but I'm planning on taking it on cover to cover so I won't get sidetracked.I've realized that using Picasa 2 can only take my photography so far. I see photographs of the highest quality and just know that they have been post processed with skill in Photoshop. I want, in fact I need, to produce better quality photo...

How My Journaling Has Come Along
2007-06-04 08:13:00
The photo in this entry is Diva. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Since I began my current journal in March I have only managed to fill it halfway. Lately I have hardly been writing entries which is quite the difference from several entries a day when I began. My Moleskine is still in good shape, although it has become lonely. My pen no longer graces its pages as eagerly as it once did. I feel so bad about it.One of the reasons I don't journal as often is because I no longer have as many opportunities as I once did to do so. I have been quite busy with preparing to attend a college art class this month, blogging on a daily basis, managing my photography work, being involved in the 1001 Journals project, managing my email, attending events, and soon corresponding with pen pals.I have not given up on journaling, which has been as neglected as sketching lately. Although, I am surely at a slower pace than I want to be. I usually manage to get an entry a week now, and only o...

How I Feel About Parenting
2007-06-03 03:03:00
The photo in this entry is Taking A Sip. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I grew up with a lot of love from my mother. She always made sure I felt loved by her no matter how bad family situations got. Although I did not notice it until recently, it has taught me a very valuable lesson about how to love your children.I am not a mother, but I have strong opinions about parenting and a tremendous love for children. I have seen too many examples of children being neglected, ignored, abused, and used. Sometimes I feel hurt by it, other times I feel angry. It makes me want to go to the parent and knock some sense into them. Even if they are not my child, I feel quite protective of them.Throughout my adolescence I had a fascination with little children. I could see their innocence and wonder at their ability to be so forgiving. Since then I have had a great respect for them. Within the same time frame, most of my female friends had children too early. I watched some of the chil...
