Now do you know why his father didn't punish him?" Johnny : "Because George still had the axe in his hand?" Advice on Writing Blogs: What has helped me
2007-02-15 03:29:00 There are over 60 million blogs on the internet and I?m sure that this number will continue to grow. What makes a good blog? How can you make your blog stand out from all the other 60 million plus blogs? These are a few ideas which will help you to write and create a successful blog. Share your Passion. Write on what you know about. It may sound obvious but to be successful you need to be able to write with passion and / or with an informative background. There is no use trying to make a blog about mortgages unless you know actually something about it. Regularity. Post on a regular basis. If a blog is regularly updated then it will definitely encourage others to come back and check for your latest content. Also search engines like blogs and websites that have regular content added at a natural rate. Keep it simple. Good writing is often deceptively simple. There is no need to try and develop complicated linguistic skills. People will appreciate blog posts that are easy to read. See... More About: Advice , Writing , Blogs , Blog

Choosing a good name for a Blog
2007-02-14 06:49:00 I would like very much to choose a good name for this blog. The original name was "Richard's Blog " - OK, but not particularly original or insightful. The current blog name "Good Things" is far too bland. Anyway I asked the help of my friend Shardul, who choose a very good name for his blog The Brighter Side of Life. these are some suggestions, which Shardul kindly gave to me: "On the Sunny Side of the Street" "It's All Downhill From Here" - I like this, related to my cycling "Blog of the Lion-Heart" (After King Richard III - The Lionheart) "Spinning Wheels" More About: Name , Sing

The Best Doctor Who Series ever?
2007-02-09 20:28:01 Genesis of the Daleks.with Tom Baker Many Dr Who aficionados say this is one of the best Doctor Who series. After seeing the ?New? Doctor Who series it is quite a shock to see the changing production values. I remember being captivated by Doctor Who when very young. I really did used to go and hide behind the settee when frightened by the monsters, even though there appearance seems very basic now. One problem with these old series is that the production set seems to have been made on an episode of blue peter using a few toilet rolls and tin foil. Just for one example the Vlads build a rocket which is going to destroy a civilisation but it really does look like it has been made out of a empty cardboard kitchen role. Funny Treadmill Video
2007-02-09 20:28:01 You usually associate treadmills with boredam. This is video is very clever and somehow very funny.Treadmill Video at You TubeIt reminds me of Monty Pythons silly walk. That is probably my all time favourite comedy sketch. I shall try find a video of that. At Monty Python performances John Cleese used to always get asked to do the silly walk because everyone loved it. I think he got a bit fed up so he used to just make up random lines, because nobody cared what he said as long as he was doing the funny walk. Thanks to Lynne for link More About: Funny , Fun , Read

Reading CC 10 mile TT
2007-02-09 20:28:01 Sunday morning Read ing CC 10 mile TT at ALdermaston. Wind was low but it wasn't the quickest day, not many cars early on Sunday. I did about 22.13 and finished 7th there were about 70 riders. The event was won by R.English and Mark Pardoe who both did about 21.31. The fastest ride was tandem of R.English and S.House 19.48. I saw them finish and they were going pretty quick.Warming up I cycled past Aldermaston barracks where there are several anti nuclear protestors camping by the military base. Aldermaston became famous in 1958 when 10,000 people marched from Trafalgar Square to Aldermaston military base.My TT have been disappointing this year but since coming back from NY my hill interval training has been going well. Tin Pot Guiness Record
2007-02-09 20:28:01 Ashirta Furman, of Queens, N.Y., established a record for running a mile on tin pots earlier that afternoon, with a time of 18 minutes and 26 seconds. The pots were held against his shoes by hand-held strings. A stipulation of the record was that the tin pots musn't fall off.The record was set at POWNAL Green Mountain Race Track on Friday 8th September. After setting and submitting a record it usually takes about 6 weeks for it to be ratified by Guin ess . Furman credits his study of meditation, under the tutelage of Sri Chinmoy, for his ability to break so many records. "It's all in fun, but there's a serious side because there's physical conditioning and a lot of mental focus required," he said. "You really have to focus deep within yourself. I really have to use the training I got from meditation to be very one-pointed and not allow other distractions to stop me." More About: Ness , Record , Cord
