Photogallery and Future Portfolio
2007-03-23 08:33:00 I have a lot of photos I took on different occasions and all they have been scattered around for so long. Today some of them stroke my eye, and I quickly dropped them into the temporary photogallery. Well, I also uploaded couple of them to flickr. Hopefully, I will be able to find some time to arrange kind of a portfolio in the future. I think I have enough photos to pick the plums. More About: Portfolio , Future

Broadband over powerlines
2007-02-23 20:01:00 Broadband over powerlines: It may take awhile by ZDNet’s Larry Dignan — Broadband over powerline technology may be coming to your home, but first electric companies need to read your meter in real time. That’s the takeaway from a roundtable that focused Current Communications, a startup that is selling electric utilities on the need for better grid monitoring and management and software and broadband over powerline technology. […] It is tempting to get rid of the iron heel of AT&T Cingular communication monopoly and go to … another one, this time, your electric company. The difference is that electric companies are NATURAL monopolies and MUCH BETTER regulated. I hope that the Broadband Over Powerline (BPL) technology helps to somehow correct the unresonably high prices set up by cable and especially telco companies. Look, “the entire BPL system can be operated from a single network operations center (NOC), greatly reducing operational expen... More About: Broadband , Broad
How to make quick money with Ruby on Rails
2007-02-22 21:02:00 An idea for the business. There are services allowing to hide your real email address when you fill up online forms. It could be job application, or social networking site, and it prevents selling your real email address to spammers. One of such services is Spamex, and as it advertises itself, it “hides your real email address, stops unwanted email permanently, reveals who disclosed your information, keeps track of logins and passwords, makes it easy to change your real email address at any time”. Fortunately, Spamex is not free, and its annual subscription is $9.95, which opens the pretty obvious niche for Ruby on Rails enthusiast looking forward to find the interesting weekend project to wrap up the similar competitive service for free. The expenses are covered by unobtrusive online ads, and the business model is profitable, because the pool of free subscribers is always much more significant. imminent crisis of bandwidth in USA?
2007-02-20 17:50:04 It is interesting to note that the steady increase and popularity of Internet television catches the existing archaic broadband infrastructure on the wrong foot. In contrast to USA market, with our painfully slow and outrageously expensive broadband here, Europe and Japan are the way ahead. For example, as of August 2006, ... Human factor in security vulnerabilities
2007-02-20 17:50:04 Interesting to see that very significant part of vulnerabilities in computer security protection overall is related to so called “human factor”.
