We've Kidnapped Evil Sara And Are Selling Her On Ebay!
2007-02-28 21:33:10 Evil Sara has left the building! She came up for a couple of days of partying Montreal style! Friday night we had some folks over for a little party. It went kind of late, or early depending on how you look at it! It was a fun time and Sara has most of the pictures. She will be posting many more on her blog when she arrives home!We did take one picture however that came out really interesting. Evil Sara performs with a drum corps from San Francisco called the Renegades. Now Christine and I have attended a couple of their parties on DCA weekends and have made friends with quite a few folks over there. So how ironic that we have seven people at our party on Friday night and we take thins picture that comes out looking like a seven. For those that don't know the significance of the number 7 you will have to ask someone from Renegades. It means a whole lot to them, and is the basis for their existence in the first place! So, that was Friday night...I have intentionally left out the detai... More About: Selling , Ebay , Evil , Sell

Video Blog Entries Coming Soon!
2007-02-21 09:31:01 Tomorrow (well technically later today) I plan to do my very first test run with a video blog! I plan to do about 3 minute video and post it over to youtube then embed the video over here and make that my main entry for the day! I just want to bring something different to the blogging table. Anyone can write posts all day long, but I want to do something completely unscripted and see how that goes. If all goes well and the idea really catches on I may expand on it and do some kind of feature every week! So tomorrow (or later today depending on how you look at it) look for my first ever video post! More About: Video , Video Blog , Blog , Ming , Trie
Slideshows & Domains
2007-02-21 09:31:01 That's what the last 12 hours have been all about! It started last night when I was looking into buying my own domain name (which by the way appears to be an expensive proposition even though I only looked at one place, Godaddy.) With the future of blogging and blog advertising, buying my own domain name seems like a very logical thing to do. Some bloggers are already paying for their own domains, but I would venture to say the large majority of us are using free services to host our blogs. We can generate revenue through various means, and make a little extra cash from it. Only recently have the larger "paydays" shifted to the blogger who has their own domain and hosts their own content. When I say larger I am talking about significantly larger sums of money to these people. With the right promotion and the right links, these people can make up to 20 times what those of us using free services can make. It seems only logical to me to go out and get my own domain, then shamelessly p... More About: Domain , Show , Main , Doma , Domains

A Sunday Blog Update
2007-02-20 09:30:03 Since camp got cancelled this weekend, I may as well do a Sunday blog update.Last year I was in Daytona for the Daytona 500. Actually I was there for almost the whole week. I drove down with a buddy of mine Wednesday night. The drive from Baltimore to Daytona is a long one! The party that entire weekend was great, except the weather didn't exactly cooperate with us! It was cold and rainy. This year the weather is much better, and I know my friends are down there enjoying the hell out of it! I would post some pictures, but the site that hosted them got deleted and those pictures are now gone forever...It's now one year later and this weekend has been a rather uneventful one. We had some friends over Friday night for a couple of drinks. That went on until about 4 in the morning before the last of them finally left. It was a pretty laid back night, just talking and hanging out. Saturday wasn't all that exciting either. I finally got myself together and went out to pick up some dinne... You know the weather is bad when...
2007-02-16 21:27:02 They close the 24 hour Wal-Mart Super Center! No joke! They are worried that the roof might collapse under all of the snow! Read all about it here! This just so happens to be in the same town where we were supposed to have practice this weekend. Needless to say practice this weekend is cancelled and rescheduled for March. I was really looking forward to getting to play again this weekend. It has been a month since we last played together and some things were really beginning to come together. I guess we'll have to wait another two weeks and see if everyone has retained all that we learned. For now, a preview of the new Brigadiers Uniform! The whole area has more snow then it can deal with though, and the lake effect snow still hasn't let up in the area. I remember a few years ago when we got over a foot of snow and the sun was out the whole day! For those of you that have never experienced snow like that, it is really bizarre! In other news...there is no other news! So if you need ... More About: Weather , When , Know

Dinner with a view...and some snow!
2007-02-15 21:25:03 The view from our table, originally uploaded by spcbrass. What do you think? Not a bad view is it! Last night we had dinner at Restaurant l'académie in Montreal. The food there is really excellent! I had mussels, Christine had veal. I'll let her blog about dinner! We would have taken pictures of dinner, but we already looked like camera freaks between her cell phone and me taking this picture last night! And we definitely got snow, not as much as they did in central and western NY, but we got some. I would really like to go get some pictures out there but with the wind I am afraid I'll either freeze to death or blow away today! In other news I still need a haircut. I would go today, but I don't have the same abominable snowman outfit that Christine has for -33 weather! I know the place is literally just around the corner, but as far as I am concerned right now down the steps it too far for me to go!For those of you that need a laugh today, listen to this! This weekend is a Brigadier... 365 Days
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Shadows and LightOriginally uploaded by spcbrass. I have joined a group on Flickr called 365 days. The whole idea behind the group is to take a picture of yourself every day for one full year and post it. I have posted 8 days so far, though I skipped a few days when I was sick and at Brigs camp. I figured I have been taking so many pictures of myself since the textamerica days that it would be a piece of cake to continue this over on Flickr. This was an interesting picture that I came up with last night when I was trying to actually get a different picture. It looks like something out of an Ipod commercial! Ironically enough it also looks very similar to the position my hands would be in if you saw me carrying a contrabass! So I have quite a few days to go with my 365 days project. You can view my progress here! More About: Days
Our Picture in the Syracuse Post Standard
2007-02-13 03:22:01 At camp last weekend we had a photographer and a reporter in to do an article about the Syracuse Brigadiers and the beginning of our 2007 season. They took this really nice picture of the contra line and also did a really nice article about how things have changed for our corps over the past several seasons. It is a very good read and for those of you in the drum corps community it will give you a really good idea of just how far the corps has come in just a few short years. Vox, My Next Blog Project
2007-02-13 03:22:01 I am checking out another blogging website called Vox. So far I really like the features that Vox has to offer. It is not nearly as customizable as blogger, but it has certain other features that I wish blogger had. It allows you to store photos, music, books, videos, and even posts from other blogs. Not only can you upload all of these things directly though Vox but you can also plug into other applications like Flickr, YouTube, PhotoBucket, and even Amazon. You can do all of your searches right through Vox for all of those sites to find the pictures, videos, music, or books you need. The coolest part is that you can include of of these things in each post on your blog. There is also a community of bloggers so if your friends are on there you can easily share all of your files with one another in an instant.Vox also seems to be built for mobloggers as well. It allows you to post photos and videos as well as full entries directly to your blog. For those of you with nokia ce... More About: Project , Blog , Next , G Project , Fakta

Fun With Photos
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Lights and Lines, originally uploaded by spcbrass. These past few months I have really been taking a lot of pictures with the camera that Christine gave me. In fact I have taken over 1300 pictures. Now many of them are for fun and some don't come out looking good, so I have deleted most of the pictures that I have taken. The really good one's I post online to my Flickr page.As you can see, last night I discovered another setting on my camera that allows me to keep the shutter open for an extended period of time. This particular picture it was open for three seconds. I like the way it came out and I also like the fact that only half of the picture has the light in it.Since I have all this time on my hands, learning how to use the camera has been easy. I'll keep posting shots all of the time, so keep checking here or my Flickr page for my favorites! More About: Fun , Photo , Photos , With
Throw another log on the fire!
2007-02-13 03:22:01 I'm not gonna lie to you, it's cold out there! Today it is 7 outside with a wind chill of -9! I don't mind the cold weather, but once it gets down to single digits and negative digits, it isn't even worth going outside. I am going crazy with the weather being as cold as it is because I am not getting out during the day time at all. And now I understand why the beer here is stronger, because no one wants to go out and get anymore after you run out! At least if the weather would creep up to somewhere near freezing I wouldn't mind going outside. Well it's time to throw on another layer of clothes and go sit on my couch! Payday Cash Advance Loans
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Have you ever sat down at the beginning or end of the month to calculate your bills and then realized that you didn't have enough money to pay them all? You have to decided which bills to pay now and which bills to pay later and often incurr late charges or higher interest charges because you can't pay them on time. Payday Cash Advance Loan s are an easy way to borrow money in the short term and not have to incurr those latefees or interest rates. Since you will be paying on time it will also not reflect negatively on your credit score. There is an interest charge, however you will find that paying interest on a small loan to ensure that all of your bills are paid on time is much cheaper then paying extra interest you may owe to a credit card.If you need a Cash Advance in a hurry, be sure to check into this today. Another Cool Music Sharing Website
2007-02-13 03:22:01 I found another great music sharing website yesterday called imeem. It allows you to upload mp3's. It appears as though this site will also allow you to upload photos and video as well. It also appears that there is a blog function though I have not yet explored that. What I like best about imeem is that you can embed it's player into any site that lets you modify or post html. You can embed single songs, or entire play lists. You can set the player to auto play or have the users click manually to play the song. Personally I prefer the manual play because I hate it when I log on to a site and I have to be interrupted by someone else's music! In any event I am going to post one of the song from my library here. This is Spinnin, by the Kelly Bell Band. This is a local group out of Baltimore. It is a mixture of blues, rock, jazz, and funk and only Kelly Bell can deliver it this way. Go check out the Phat Blues Website today and order some of his CD's. They only cost $7 and this is s... The mysteries of google page rank...
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Can someone please explain this to me? I have been reading a lot about this lately and trying to find information on how to increase my google page rank is insane. My link is out there on a number of different people's blogs in both posts and in people's link list. Still my page rank is zero. I have more links back to my page and within my page then people with page ranks of 4 or 5. I tried submitting my links to some free directories and I am still stuck at zero.Any comments or suggestions from people with experience on this would be great. I need to find a way to boost the page rank of my blog in a hurry. Please share how you have done it. Also if you would like to exchange links please leave a comment here and I will add a link to your blog here on my list over on the right sidebar.Thank you, please drive through! This Week = Uneventful
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Well uneventful other then being sick lets hope I can finally put that to rest behind me. So that about sums up my week. I did absolutely nothing, zero, zip, notta! About all I did this week was post a couple of pictures to flickr. I updated the other blogs as well about some different things. So with that, the weekend awaits and it appears to be as uneventful as the rest of the week has been. I'll try to find something interesting to post about by the end of the weekend...until then. Sleeping is not overrated
2007-02-13 03:22:01 After 7 nights of barely being able to sleep because of a nasty cough I have finally been able to get some rest without hacking my head off every 5 minutes. This is either the first sign that I am actually getting over this nasty cough, or that I slept last night out of complete exhaustion. I really hope that I am getting better. I do feel better, but I can still feel it hanging on somewhat.Somehow I made it through a whole drum corps camp this past weekend without killing myself, though I am sure it made me a little weaker in fighting this cough. It takes a great deal of effort to be able to play the horn for all of those hours and it can make your body weak especially if you are sick.So here is to hoping that I am fully out of this funk in the next couple of days and I feel like me once again. If I sleep tonight like I did last night then I know I will be recovered by the weekend. More About: Sleeping , Sleep , Over , Overrated , Ping

We retained much of the young membership form last year as well and they will only get stronger as this year goes on.The corps overall is still younger then in past years. In fact at 29 I am the "old man" of the contra section. Right now with the members that we have in the section our average age is around 23. 2003 - More Brigadier Memories
More articles from this author:2007-02-13 03:22:01 The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Tribute to Vince BruniSyracuse Brigadiers 20032003 was another interesting year for the Brigadiers. This was a corps made up of people from the United States, Canada, England, Japan, Germany, and New Jersey! Yes New Jersey is a foreign country and for those of you that have been there or live there only you understand why!The corps itself had not lost a show since 1999 and the streak continued until August of that year. There were many growing pains with such an international corps that year with members coming in and out all season long. In the end we put on a couple of great performances but fell short of a 5th straight Championship, finishing second to the Hawthorne Caballeros. This piece right here is our tribute that we played the the Empire Statesmen for the late Vince Bruni. Mr Bruni had passed on the day before and out of respect for him and for his corps we played this piece for them. It is entitled, "The First Time Ever I saw Your Face....
